  1. Unfortunately most of my class 40 photos are from the mid-eighties so feature a higher number of Withdrawn or scrapped locos here are three from Swindon all dated 21st October 1985 40154 Swindon 21/10/1985 40176 Swindon 21/10/1985 40193 Swindon 21/10/1985 Cheers Steve
  2. Really liking how your Haymarket depot is coming on. Most of my photos seem to be 3/4 views of locos "out front" however I do have a few from the area to the far right of the depot where the heavy lifting crane was. These are quite interesting as they show the general grunge of this part of the depot and the bits and bobs lying around motors, pallets etc and the area appears to be filled in between the rails presumably so the forklift can operate in the area aswell to remove bits. There also appears to be a 2 story building in the corner beside the brick shed?? Anyway here they are I hope they are some use so you can get the feel of this area and I look forward to seeing your photos in model form. 26014 with motors behind?? 26014 wih freshly painted pipes sits under the crane. 26012 showing pallets and Forklift at work with filled in track looks to be wood in parts and perhaps concrete in others??? Hope they help Steve

  6. From here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_97 97203 + 97204 These locomotives were converted from Class 31 locomotives. The first, no. 97203, was operated by the Railway Technical Centre, based at Derby. It was used to haul various test-trains operated by the centre. However, in 1987, the locomotive was written-off after having sustained fire damage. Therefore, a replacement in the form of 97204 was converted. This later returned to normal traffic, as no. 31970. Both locomotives were painted in RTC's red/cream livery with a black bodyside band. Basically it was 31326 went to the RTC and got renumbered/repainted as 97204 then when the RTC were done with it it returned back to normal traffic as 31970. was scrapped in 1997 Lima did do a model of it http://www.ehattons.com/89351/Lima_L205229_LN_Class_31_Diesel_31970_BR_Research_Red_Grey_RTC_Derby_Pre_owned_Like_new/StockDetail.aspx Would probably sell well if Hornby re-did it. Theres a good comparison photo of the livery here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/90550-rtc-class-31-13970-livery/?p=1601033 Cheers Steve Steve

No prizes just the satisfaction that on New Years Eve at least you maybe found Kenton. Cheers Steve

  25. Have you thought about approaching the "Box sellers" or even smaller shops or even the N Gauge Society to see if they are interested in pledging for a set amount. eg the £255 set seems most popular so they pledge for 100 sets which will be uniquely numbered so they can sell them as "Limited editions", they pledge say £25500 for 100 with the promise they will have unique number /name for x years and can sell for whatever price say £330 and make £7500 profit? or is this margin too small for them?? This way those that haven't heard of the scheme will get a chance to buy, those who perhaps cannot afford it now but can get one but at a premium rate in the future and the box shifters put something back into the hobby. Just a thought. Steve
