The only safe and solid way to put any sort of weight in the base of any sort of unit would be to make the base and unit framework as a one piece metal skeleton and then cladding it, thus impossible as flat pack. Any sort of furniture has a potential weak point at a joint. Any sort of furniture where the center of gravity is mobile (as in draws or doors) has a possible tip point so you should use caution and secure it to a wall and educate others to be careful and teach children not to climb on items not intended for climbing on

You can find a very nice Hino concrete mixer quite often on Ebay from Hong kong and as its based on a vehicle from over there it is also right hand drive. You can also find several makes and models of midi vans from over there which would fit in on modern layouts.

Most terminal stations around that date would have concrete, brick or stone platforms. You may find some with wooden platform extensions. The only place I can think of would be Ryde pier head station on the Isle of White.

Most of us model railways as a hobby for there own enjoyment, if they exhibit a layout it should be to show there modelling skill and to encourage and inspire others. If there are any trophies or awards to be won then that is a bonus but these days more and more clubs are struggling to get enough members together to run an exhibition let alone organise voting / judging, purchase or arranging return of trophies and finally the presentation. Having been awarded trophies at exhibitions in the past on a few occasions I can't say I didn't find it gratifying, however the real bonus was being invited to show my layout and stock in the first place.

I've never heard of track going dead, usually it is a dry joint where a feed wire connects to the rail or a dodgy point. Usually the only regular maintenance needed is track cleaning which is best done with a fluid cleaner, if you use an abrasive cleaner it causes micro scratches in the railhead meaning it will get dirty quicker and become harder to fully clean.

Wouldn't there be difference in couplings aswell as HSTs are in fixed sets with no buffers however the sleepers are fitted with buffers and standard coupling equipment.

The easiest center coach to find on Ebay is usually the Hornby class 110 with the ex Lima now Hornby class 101 occasionally to be found. The Bachmann center coaches are very hard to find as a separate item.

The issue of mechanical failures leading to drivers ending up with grid penalties is stupid. When D.R's engine blew last week, because he pulled up he will get a grid penalty yet if he'd crashed and required a new engine he wouldn't b be penalised. Surely a better idea would be to deduct points from the constructers for mechanical failures.

Try looking up Dewsbury cemment terminal, still rail connected. Do you just want the cemment plant or you could incude a concrete batching and casting plant with associated aggregate storage and loading/unloading facility.
