  1. We the Amalgamated Rivet Counters, Livery and Lettering Checker's would like to counter your proposal "Pre-grouping - Modelling & Prototype" Forum with "Pre 1923 - Modelling & Prototype" Forum. This would be more acceptable to my members. Marc
  2. As the general secretary of the Amalgamated Rivet Counters, Livery and Lettering Checker's, my members would like see a management proposal of a concrete date so that they can continue with their important pedantry work with out cause for any unnecessary industrial action. If management are unable to produce a proposal which is felt satisfactory to our membership then we intend to work to rule! AND RULES ARE RULES!!! WE WILL FOLLOW THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! Marc

We had the first two prototypes for our G15/Y6 GER/LNER/BR 0-4-0 Tram locos on our stand at Telford there will be an initial run of 20 produced in our own workshop in the Lake District. We are hoping for the first production models should be ready for Reading in December. The will be supplied to the customers specification ie livery, DCC, DDC sound. Prices start at £500 for primer finish and DC.
  4. I think you might have to make your own. Its pretty simple but it can be a ball ache. We used to make our own out of 0.75 brass wire but it got to labour intensive so we found a supplier of iron ones. Marc
  5. Ad alert: The LSWR 4 wheel coaches are also done by us (Furness wagon Co) in plastic. Marc
  6. Should we be sponsoring some sort of awards, ie 'Rivet counter of the week', 'Pedant of the month'? If yes then could you nominate yourself? Marc
  7. Glad it worked. I'm off to buy some tomorrow. I have a springside pug which needs the treatment. Marc
  8. Its making more progress then my efforts. its looking good. Marc
  9. Can we twin this publication with rivet counter monthly? And that well known bi-annual publication "you have the wrong shade of grey on that!" Marc
  10. Looking forward to it. He are a few photos of "Crackpot Mining". Marc
  11. I'm presuming we are discussing a 4mm layout here? Marc
  12. On the gauge o guild website there is a pdf booklet on small 7mm layouts these could be easily scaled down to 4mm and might give you an idea of what you can get away with in a small space. Don't worry about wiring come up with your plan then work out the wires later. Wood work isn't that hard so again don't worry. http://www.gauge0guildarchive.com/gazette_archive/other%20publications/Small-layouts-1/files/1.html Marc
  13. An interesting mix of stock. With this in mind you could go any where in time and space. What do you want to model? You have the opportunity start from scratch. With the space you have you could build 2 layouts. What is the weight of the base boards that you have? Do you want your layout to be portable? Marc
  14. I'm feeling religious this morning so St Pauls Marc
  15. I was told to use brake fluid. never tried it but it would make sense as it get rid of paint. Marc
  16. Oh for the space. My 7mm standard gauge layout "Scratchy Bottom". Have a look at some of the books by Iain Rice. There should be something you can use. For realism less is more. With the space you have you could model a large chunk of branch line or a inner-city industrial area. We had a working 7mm exhibition layout in 8ft by 2ft and it just had 2 points. Our current 7mm layout is 14ft long with 4ft of traverser at each end.
  17. Have you seen our NER P1 hopper if you cant built airfix then you can still build it. no soldering required Marc
  18. Hi Robert. Are you a member of the Gauge O Guild? The largest 7mm scale show is actually on this weekend at the International exhibition centre at Telford. The Technical team will be on hand to answer any questions you might have with equipment etc. Also ask the traders we don't bit and most of us are modellers who have fallen into manufacturing. MArc
  19. Interesting! using this logic all I have to do is build a box around "Scratchy Bottom" and it would become a Cameo layout. Marc
  20. Think I might have to run away from there to many arrows for my liking today. but I do like the sound of leather on willow so a trip to Lords St. John's Wood Marc
  21. We are printing our buffers now we have added some and we will be adding more parts including buffers on our shapeways shop. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/pre-grouping-railways Marc
  22. They look really great. I'm just finishing a cambrian 4 plank in 7mm. I will post a photo after the big reveal on Saturday at Telford. Marc
  23. From what I have heard both are correct. These design was used from about 1880 through to 1910, and the wheel base does move around. The box part should be 16ft in all cases but the wheel base seems to move between 9ft and 9ft6. I have one of the Dragon 7mm kits and that on a 9ft wheel base. Marc
  24. I would say its one on the NBR's incline brakes. at least it matches the drawings it have got. Marc
  25. The great Alan Border and the great "short backward square" the 5ft2 Tasmanian with the flared pants that is David Boon.
