  1. perhaps that is a release mechanism which allows the nose to lift up?
  2. Yes - how do you move the thread?
  3. After several mistakes... the LED lights are 24V adhesive strips with integral resistors which are sold very affordably on 10metre rolls - available from Alibaba (if you don't mind a 2 week+ wait). Unfortunately the roll can only be cut every 6 LEDS - so I have sprayed these to dim them down a bit.
  4. In the meantime I have been able to locate a pipe with a diameter very close to the arches (i would like to say I drew the plans for the laser cutting with the pipe in mind but I didn't!) This is 120mm diameter conduit for air vents. The idea is to use it to form the inner lining of the arch which should then be a lot easier to decorate with embossed brick plasticard etc Before I cut it in half and hot glue it into place, I am running a copper strip power bus along the entire viaduct to give me the option of lighting the workshops under the arches and another power bus for the track
  5. The main running lines and the station pass behind the viaduct and I wanted to recreate the claustrophic feel of an urban railway. However there is going to be a lot of problems accessing that area so I am thinking about making the viaduct removable and working on the possible solutions for the track.
  6. The viaduct has now been connected to the upper loop - track laid for testing
  7. Today I received the following in my Inbox- Nectar offer on eBay - x9 points on purchases
  8. There's something about the end of those break coaches...I can't put my finger on it...
  9. The horns arrived today You get two pairs in a pack - enough for two locos They are far too fragile - mine broke as i picked it up to take a photo
  10. A Hornby TTS sound chip in a good second hand Bachmann, all coming in around £90, not much to complain about..
  11. For those of you who have given up ever finding replacement horns for your Hornby Class 60...I have noticed this seller on eBay Horns to Fit Hornby Class 60 (4 Pieces) | eBay They look to be 3D printed in resin with good resolution. I have ordered a few and will update here when they arrive...
  12. There's something about this loco that I can't put my finger on...
  13. Can't blame them for being careful. They can't afford mistakes
  14. RTR is reaching amazing levels of detail and paint finish - considering a project may end up a disaster after a lot of effort, the prices are pretty reasonable and, as the models are now very good quality, they retain a good resale value. So it doesn't seem worth it for rolling stock which is already available off the shelf However I now have more time to spend upon scenery and where you can get really good results for example with trees you only need to pay for flock.
  15. Thanks Ben for looking in and letting us now. If they are in the EU then no doubt they will take longer than they normally would have done - post Brexit. Just means I have more time to save up!
  16. Yes but it was the retailer who gave the delivery date, which suggests they had been notified they were already en route to them...
  17. Hi I require a complete Class 90 chassis - any help or suggestions please?
  18. Rails announced imminent delivery of the 86 in February; does anyone have any other information?
  19. How about Russian Revolution, French Revolution, Glorious Revolution, Velvet Revolution...
  20. I know that the names are difficult to read, let alone pronounce but why not some Celtic gods of nature?
  21. I thought about those gods and their dark character resonates with the black livery however I'm not sure names like Hades, Persephone and Cerebus ( think along the lines of Lucifer Morningstar) would go down well with the public - perhaps these locos will be hidden away working on night time rosters
  22. I like that idea - I am sure children would love it as well when thinking about the different woods used to make the wands in Harry Potter however it might be a bit strange naming them Blackthorn, Holly or Beech What about the gods and goddesses of the forests, lakes and mountains? They would have to borrow from the Greek pantheon - the Nymphs are numerous enough and have some interesting names such as Electra, Asterope, Nephele
  23. This is an exciting announcement - it would be nice to see locomotives named after female goddesses - there are already many locomotives named after the male gods - or is there some protocol for naming locos that I am not aware of?
  24. Pethaps the wrong thread but did anyone here have a Baccy 90 chassis they are happy to sell?
