  1. Star Wars is certainly not serious sci fi. Baddies keep falling down extremely long holes, someone gets chopped up by a lightsabre and put together again not unlike Frankenstein and the imperials make mistakes like the Keystone Kops. All sorts of silliness everywhere such as in the galactic senate of Coruscant you can clearly see ET creatures walking about The new Trilogy is different in that - instead of ripping off stories from old Hollywood films, Star Wars is ripping off the stories from the original Star Wars trilogy I liked the death of Snoke a lot. In Ep 8 we see what Luke could have / should have done to Palpatine when he was sitting with his light sabre upon his throne. We have already seen Ep7 tries to be more plausible than 4 - with regard to making a 'Death Star' I expect the idea that history keeps repeating itself will continue in Episode 9 - along the lines of 'I am your father' . Perhaps Leia is Rey's Mother - it is interesting that originally JJ Abrams wanted Carrie Fishers daughter to play Rey I really really hope that JJ Abrams doen't bring time travel into the plot...perhaps Rey is Padme'sAnakin skywalkers great grandmother... Disney has said they are planning a new Trilogy but set on the other side of (or possibly in another?) galaxy where we can assume the Force exists - perhaps were Yoda comes from. What we definitely won't be seeing are any more films about trade disputes, zero contract hours or season ticket price rises..
  2. anyone for Mornington Crescent?
  3. I have a couple of Bachmann Blue and Grey CEP empty box outer sleeves. A £0 bargain if anyone wants to pay for postage.
  4. eHattons Class 128 DPU Royal Mail / Blue http://www.hattons.co.uk/83444/Heljan_8921_Class_128_DPU_55992_in_Royal_Mail_Letters_red/StockDetail.aspx http://www.hattons.co.uk/83443/Heljan_8920_Class_128_DPU_55991_in_BR_blue_with_yellow_ends_Parcels_Service_/StockDetail.aspx £59 - last few
  5. Hi Simon Network Rail have been electrifying the GOBLIN line and I have started a topic with photos here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/119443-windoff-mpv-ohle-ttrain/&do=findComment&comment=2597298
  6. Apparently Darth Sidious' force spirit is kept imprisoned by the force spirits of dead Jedi.
  7. I'm not sure it is a problem. Star Wars is a dramatic space opera driven by the characters. There is science nonsense all over the place. Star Trek is even worse. Ironically his hasn't stopped many of the technologies being realised. and it is not impossible that the Jedi were actually engineered by an AI, tinkering with biological systems. To any civilisation encountering a higher technololgy for the first time - it must seem very much like magic that nano-engineered aliens possess telepathy and telekinesis. Likewise I often wonder what our neolithic ancestors would have thought about our 'sky ships' 'heat boxes' and 'poo-poo flushers' - or even for that matter adult hunters playing with toy trains...
  8. The Empire Strikes Back still is my favourite film in the series but I think this comes a close second with A New Hope. Still leaves many questions unanswered - why the Jedi code requires children to leave their parents, why Jedi should not have children - and I think script writers have not the slightest intention of answering these questions. What they may answer is whether Sith can possess another Jedi, because I am not entirely convinced there can be any other reason for yellow eyed Anakin - in which case I am expecting to see an exorcism in Star Wars 9...
  9. How about a super-detailed Class 87? Oh! hang on a second...
  10. That seems like the crazy no compromise detailing that APT models should demand! Perhaps DJM can go one better than the cheese sandwich door wedge in the Rapido APT-E It would be nice if he could model the passenger compartments complete with journalists and miniature plastic pint cups with OO gauge beer, which may or may not spill as the model tilts through the corners.
  11. Very nice job with the Ground signal. prewired SMD I found so far are square profile. You could try a drop of Clearfix to hold it in place and double up as the lens. I've not come across prewired SMD's which show two colours - so please let me know if you find one. When are you going to tackle the APT POP train?
  12. Those concerned about the quality control of the Railtrack version from Hattons (none with my model) I have posted pictures of the cab etc on the 121 / 122 thread here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/65775-Dapol-class-121-and-122-in-oo-gauge/page-36&do=findComment&comment=2948968 this model and a Class 68 have gone some way to dispelling all the traumas of the Class 73's a while back!
  13. The link is here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/125236-bargain-hunters-mark-2/page-13&do=findComment&comment=2931970 I suppose two of these back to back on a large pole - the wiring is pre-done so shouldn't be too much of a headache
  14. Hi Mike if you look in Bargain Hunters Mark 2 - go back to last week, I posted a picture and a link to a site on Alibaba which has an item you may want to try out. I haven't gotten around to ordering yet myself but they looked very good at that price. Had no problems with Alibaba for other items like passengers that I have ordered - just takes a week or 3 for stuff to arrive.
  15. Thanks - tese should go really fast...and just what I want. Some of us forget to check the sites / don't want to subscribe to sites like Rails and by the time we find out - the bargains have gone. Keep on posting those bargains please!!
  16. Not a bad idea seeing as there is not much to detail in the first place and I wouldn't need a pantograph. However now everyone knows exactly what I am after and there are no other options, I imagine the prices will shoot up
  17. Well if you are playing by those rules how about Peccadillo Circus?
  18. Can we have a preorder option just for the Power Car / dummy or motorised?
  19. Okay I give up - I don't know what is the usual move from St Paul's tube station. Anyway, it is easier to drive there - around the back of the cathedral is where the CANONS PARK
  20. That's probably a good idea Dave. I would put my name down for a power car on it's own to make an RTC test set and then keep my fingers crossed for Rapido trains to make the HST P. I imagine the motored power car would cost the same as one without a motor.
  21. Class 121 RAILTRACK version arrived today from Hattons The model is carefully wrapped in silicon type plastic No 'teardrops' at the cab ends Excellent detailing and paintwork - a very bright model Dapol have to be congratulated with this model and for dealing with the quality control issues from the first batch of bubble cars, let's hope they've put these problems to bed for good. Thanks also to Hattons who I would certainly put my vote in for retailer of the year. I would love to wait for the price to drop on these models but I don't see the Ltd editions hanging around for long!
  22. Well - you have to hand it to Diehard Dave as I don't think (m)any manufacturers would atttempt to please all of the people all of the time!
  23. Dave!!! - you specified sprung pantograph in the very first page of this thread when the Crowdfunding was started and we signed up for it!!
