  1. Check out the parkside range. There are lots of different vans, also look on Paul Bartletts photo site
  2. As the new owner of fixed focus eyes, i am looking with interest. Gone from -5.5 to -2.5 as i did not want to lose reading. Was easy for closeup a year ago, but serious blur, then less short sighted has left me struggling a bit.
  3. 5 kit locos Main etched 2 Etched and resin 1 WM 1 Etched and WM 1
  4. I saw earlier car garages shutting done, I can do better than that, I have owned 8 cars. 6 from companies no longer around, or a name only on other cars. Rootes gone, GM Europe gone For model railways, my PC is a huge model shop
  5. Good Variable Transformer - eg Powermaster Modern electronic - eg Gaugemaster Bad Resistance mat - eg Duette cheap & transet jobbies low frequency pulse electronic - depends but coreless hate H&M electronics.
  6. I have been making seconds from two BSOs and also the occasional BFK. 2*FO + 2*BSO = 1*2E TSO + 2*BFK
  7. Oh well learning time ahead, bought a kit from Hattons and found lumps of white metal in the box, chassis and boiler are brass but cab is white metal. Now unlike a LOT of modellers I am not scared of etched brass as it will not melt at the sight of a soldering iron. Will not start it yet as still building the LMS equivalent, but there may be epoxy glue ahead. After some solder tacking.
  8. The Craftman Johnson 0-4-4T is here!!!!
  9. Does anyone else think of a well known motoring journalist/presenter when they see pictures of Butler Henderson (they are related)
  10. I jave an earlyish electronic controller, Commander, it is not good with coreless, basically iron core and ringfield only. My lot older Safety Minor is good with all motors tried. Not used much now as the newer Gaugemaster as used.
  11. OK Darius Do you get more satisfaction building these than buying a RTR model? We reckon you do.
  12. I actually want a Swindon 123, but I am struggling with 3D CAD. Want to 3D the cab and underframe bits, roof Triang, chassis frame Triang, side craft cut. I am going to have to finish my 120 which is craft cut with a Cameo 4. Going to convert a 110 to the WR 2 car 104
  13. Talbot was a right mix of Simca and Rootes, created by Chrysler then sold to Peugeot. So they ended up trying to make French and British cars look similar. 3 Small hatches, 1 good Samba - small French like Peugeot 104 Sunbeam - bigger British, hatch version of Avenger Horizon - rattley POC from France, 5 door Bigger cars were the Alpine and Avenger lines. The French cars were more advanced, but the British ones were a better drive, better handling, to me better looking, (and more reliable). The best hot hatch of that era had a Talbot badge Rootes main stay engine was a pretty reliable 1600 OHV with short pushrods, 8 port, large bore and short stroke, safe to over 7000rpm. Was well designed by a known engine designer I cannot find the details of. Simca was another OHV design which got very rattly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simca_Poissy_engine
