  1. Here we go then. Set up your hardware and launch LokProgrammer on your PC. 1. Read the decoder and then save the .esux file so that you can easily restore things should you need to. 2. Go to Decoder .... Function Mapping 3. Locate Conditions "Forward, F22" by scolling down. Left click on this text and a drop down arrow will appear. Left click on the down arrow (pause as this takes a few seconds) then scroll down to F22 and change the On label to read Ignore. Continue further down the list and change F29 from Ignore to On 4. Repeat the above for "Reverse, F22" 5. Now do it again for the Forward and Reverse F23 settings, this time select F30 to On for both 6. Scroll further down the Conditions column and locate the original F29 entry, that will state "sound slot 14" on the right. Left click on the F29 text, click the drop down arrow and change F22 to On and F29 to Ignore 7. Repeat the above for F30, selecting F23 to On and F30 to ignore. Your screen should now look like this: 8. Next we'll just reorder things to make it look tidier. Left click the empty box left of "Forward, F29", this will highlight the line. Now go to the top and you will see two small arrows. Click the down arrow repeatedly until "Forward, F29" is at the end of the list. 9. Repeat the above for "Reverse, F29", "Forward, F30" & "Reverse, F30" 10. Finally select the line starting F22 and use the up arrow to place after F21, then repeat with the F23 line and move it to after F22. Your screen should now look like this: That's it. Write changes to the decoder and try it out. The sound slots you want should now by on F22 & F23. Let me know how you get on. Drop me a pm if you get stuck or something isn't clear. Steve
  2. If you have Lokprogrammer hardware and software, along with a programming track then things become much, much easier! I will prepare some screen shots and walk you through the process later this evening. Steve
  3. The following will remap the functions as you've described. If you can read and save the current decoder settings I suggest you do that before changing anything. Caveat emptor. CV31 = 1, CV32 = 1 ---------------------- CV317 = 32 CV318 = 1 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 4 ---------------------- CV417 = 0 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 9 ---------------------- CV417 = 0 CV424 = 32 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 4 ---------------------- CV433 = 0 CV439 = 4 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 9 ---------------------- CV433 = 0 CV442 = 64 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 4 ---------------------- CV449 = 0 CV455 = 16 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 9 ---------------------- CV450 = 0 CV455 = 64 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 4 ---------------------- CV465 = 0 CV471 = 64 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 9 ---------------------- CV466 = 16 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 4 ---------------------- CV487 = 0 CV488 = 1 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 9 ---------------------- CV486 = 2 CV487 = 0 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 4 ---------------------- CV503 = 0 CV504 = 4 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 9 ---------------------- CV498 = 0 CV502 = 4 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 5 ---------------------- CV264 = 16 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 10 ---------------------- CV262 = 0 CV266 = 4 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 5 ---------------------- CV273 = 4 CV280 = 64 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 10 ---------------------- CV273 = 64 CV278 = 0 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 5 ---------------------- CV289 = 8 CV296 = 64 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 10 ---------------------- CV289 = 128 CV298 = 0 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 5 ---------------------- CV305 = 4 CV312 = 0 CV313 = 1 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 10 ---------------------- CV306 = 1 CV312 = 0 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 5 ---------------------- CV321 = 8 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 10 ---------------------- CV322 = 8 CV330 = 0
  4. Yikes, that does not sound healthy at all. Are all the wheels turning, as it sounds a bit like one of the motor drive shafts is rotating in or near to its socket? Steve
  5. Ahh, indeed. In my organisation I am just about the oldest, so I totally recognise that comment. Although as Head of Training I am probably more self aware of having to get things right than most pilots. An RNP approach now has to be flown by a crew at every 6 monthly simulator trip, so I would have thought "most" would have had the proper RT beaten into them by now. 😉😅
  6. Agreed, current RT terminology is "request RNP Approach via XXXXX runway xx ", where XXXXX is the Initial Approach Fix. No pilot should be using RNAV anymore. Requesting an RNP approach for training makes total sense. Steve
  7. You could certainly try, but of course you'd be wrong 😉😂
  8. Talking Roti, having spent 10 years working and living in Brunei and Sarawak I so miss Roti Canai and some curry sauce.
  9. Given that most DCC circuit breakers and Autoreversers do not react quick enough when using an ECoS, resulting in the ECoS short circuit protection kicking in, would there be a similar issue with using frog juicers given the basic functionality is the same? Steve
  10. No Scottie dog in that photo, unless there's one in the flats 😉 That Westie is looking pretty smart though. Steve
  11. A great initiative that I've enjoyed completing in years gone by. Thanks Brian and the poll team, thanks also to Andy for enabling the process. I look forward to ticking some boxes and eventually seeing what the collated results look like. Steve
  12. Hornby are the roots and foundations of the hobby. The problem is that they are now acting in a way to exclude the grass roots retail arm by introducing more and more direct sales. Their actions, not the customers (us), will lead to the virtual total collapse of the local model shop. They are simply heading off down a path of self destruction in my opinion, by not realising and capatilising on what makes them such a widely know brand. They might see a short term win with their bottom line, but if they retreat to an online only presence, they will simply end up with the model consumer being driven by Google i.e. an online search that will show Hornby, Bachmann, Dapol, Rapido, Accurascale, etc. That shop front, shop display, can I touch element that they enjoy at the moment will be lost. I think they are a company with a huge potential that simply don't know where to go and how to turn a profit in a very dynamic market. What are they? A toy train manufacturer that hangs on to legacy name but can't adapt to the modern market, and can't compete on quality, price, or business accumen.
  13. I must confess I'm in a different space. I have my own SLA printer, so have no desire to pay the extortionate prices that Shapeways are asking. I am happy to spend time and gain some satisfaction from creating my own STLs (designs). I am also happy to share those STLs for free if others were happy to share their designs in a similar manner. I do what I do for pleasure, not for profit.
  14. It is ironic that there were a number of posts on the Accurascale Deltic thread saying that AS should have fitted Zimo, and here we have the opposite comments being made. My take is that both ESU and Zimo produce quality decoders, however if the programming of the decoder and the sound files themselves are not done to the highest quality then the end result may be disappointing. Steve
  15. One thing that struck me looking at these excellent photo's from the 70/80s is how uniformly dirty the centre windscreen gets on the 40s & 45s. It's not something I've noticed before, but I'm certain it'll be one of the first things I see from now on.
  16. Sure thing. Drop me a pm or post here, I'll pick it up and let you know which CVs are to be adjusted to remap things. Steve
  17. Chinese knock-off decoders that have simply copied genuine products illegally. I'll let you decide whether you condone such a business, and want to give them your money. Steve
  18. Simply put, it is possible. However there are two possible ways to enable this, one easy and the other introduces some compromise. Firstly, if all you want to do is have this feature permanently enabled i.e. F12 will always illuminate the backward facing cab and never the forward cab this is easily done. If you would like to retain the F12 function as it is, but add the option to invert the functionality (and have both on as well!), then you would need to identify a F key that you would like to be reassigned i.e. a function that you currently would not use would be deleted and replaced by the inverted cab light function. The exisiting function could be either a light function or a sound function. Let me know which of these you would like and I'll supply the necessary CV changes. Steve
  19. Cab lights do not turn off automatically. If you would like this feature, here's the magic numbers: Have cab lights auto turn off when moving Index CV New CV value CV range Original CV value CV31 = 16, CV32 = 3 CV497 = 6 n/a 4 CV31 = 16, CV32 = 4 CV270 = 10 n/a 8 I have updated my adjusted CV summary, available here:
  20. Damn, I have AC flowing through metal all over my house. 220 - 240V of it with really high currents. If low voltage, low current DCC can cause such heating I do hope the "induced electrical current" doesn't cause ohmic heating in my home. 😉 Thanks goodness my Masters level Engineering says it is all safe.
  21. There could never be too many photos of WW. Repeats always welcome! Steve
  22. You're all wrong so far, it's a Class 06.
  23. It's the proverbial rock and a hard place for the manufacturers. The standard for most models these days seems to be R2, so I totally understand AS producing the Deltic to work with R2 as well. This whole modelling thing is full of compromises! I can't say I look at the AS Deltic and thing "damn those wheels are small". I don't perceive any issue at all with the wheel diameter. There was someone on RMweb recently asking about R1. Yikes.
  24. Hopefully my aviation background can help. Today it is possible to fly a plane, a while ago it was possible to fly a Sycamore, I don't think it has ever been possible to fly a tree. 😉
