Yes, it is from Fox, Ronnie. But lining a 7mm MK1 is still very tedious.

I think it's one of the best parts. It brings the model to life.

  5. Good Morning and an apology Tony. I misled you recently when I said Hornby Mag had not published the “Old Mills” article. It is, in fact, in the November issue complete with Tony Wright photos. (Rather better than those here) Wolverhampton Model Railway Exhibition 2015 A case of "Mags in bags" concealing the content.

  7. Hello again Tony. It was good to talk earlier and great that you are happy for me to hijack this blog to promote the 2015 Wolverhampton Model Railway Exhibition. Mind you I should not be surprised as it was you that introduced me to the club 33 years ago! It should be a good show and Tony Geary (dibateg) has posted a thread here Wolverhampton Model Railway Exhibition Highlights include Black Country Blues and Terry Yen’s 0 Gauge MPD Louth Illustrated here by Mac’s (Ian MacLachlan’s photo.

  12. There is a possibility that this vehicle may be seen on the Old Mills layout at the forthcoming Wolverhampton show. (Nov 7th and 8th)
  13. Quite interested in this Container. Could you give me some contact details please for Mr King?
  14. Black ends! I cannot (at this moment) find definitive proof I can post. On Marsden Rail #23 there is one and the clip was on You tube but has now been pulled for copyright reasons. No date is known but believed to be '63. My mates seem to agree on as a follow up to brown vehicles they should be body colour but with Ds being repainted at non WR works there were some black ones as :Vans - Alextrack I cannot (at this moment) find a photo in any of my books that show either colour other than shadow! Related? 4mm and 7mmH model : GWR Designed "Fruit D"
  15. Looks like the blowlamp and scraper prep went out of the window at some stage!
  16. A quick trawl of my books has failed to find a photo I could scan and pm to you. These vehicles are usually lurking in a bay platform so I’ll keep looking today in between going cross eyed transferring Conflats and containers. It might be that both crimson and black ends existed side by side dependant on where the vehicles were painted and who by. There was considerable variation on buffer beam and solebar paint colour on vans/opens. And lettering styles on everything! Hornby have chosen black ends on both their new CCTs. 1950s horse boxes seem always to have black ends as do both wooden and steel unlined bogie vans of the period. Paul Bartlett’s excellent pics are 1980s and evidence from now preserved vehicles is unlikely as the 1950s livery would have been removed by blowlamp and scraper prior to the application of later livery.
  17. Hi Nick I was unsure of this myself a couple of years back when I finished a couple of superb Parkside kits. I was told Crimson/black ends up to 1962 when spraying took over from the brush. Then all crimson. This is bourne out in a Gloucester DVD I have that shows an ex works one with black ends (but 1960s) Most though are BR standard sludge! Best Regards

  19. I too was a bit disappointed by the Brassmasters axle boxes and now use Comet ones. I scratched my fire iron tunnels but Comet also make those. Note the over coaling of the tender on the right shows the absense of a fire iron tunnell!
