  1. On my 2 surviving split chassis locos I think the tender pick up addition might be worthwile. However to add the wiring to the loco. I need to drill and tap the loco chassis (or self tappers?) Any ideas or tips on drilling and tapping mazac anyone?
  2. Where would one buy Woods Metal? I read of it's use as ballast in an ancient MRN. It's density is about 9.7 (lead is about 11.4)
  3. Thanks. I have one of the 2251 that fits your info. II didn'think that any of the split chassis panniers had a can motor.
  4. Is there an intermediate Bachmann Pannier Chassis between the split chassis and the Dcc ready one? I ask this as Hattons have one listed as "dcc compatable - no socket but can motor"
  5. I did wonder about these? 50 pcs 1:100 Model scale ALL Seated People sitting figures Passengers Painted When you consider inside a moving coach figures need only to be representational?

  11. Although off topic I find this info informative. In school I used to hand-write my handouts. Then came the directive to type them. Some kids complained that they were less readable typed! So I changed to comic sans font where a is a. etc. Some kids with a specific learning difficulty found this better. ie no curly tails. On the screen print (post #4) the mobile device interprets the post as curly but not the "Making a determined effort..........." but both are comic sans font.
  12. A Ha: the answer to a mystery or 2! I had had my script criticised before. I didn't realise the effects of mobile devices. This must be why eBay have changed their method of posting within the last month or so. Now if you cut and paste an ad the font is eBay default and black. Earlier it was your choice of font and colour. I thought greater impact but maybe not on smart phones?
  13. Thanks for this. I googled it and at £3.50 seems like a useful tool. I'm going with this method but thanks to the other suggestions
  14. There are a lot of similarities between the ex GWR Y8 and the BR 1/213 fruit vans. The main differences being that the BR built variant had ply doors and ends. I have a few Bachmann Y8 bodies and wonder if any one has attempted a conversion? In theory it's just filling the grooves between planks but what filler would be suitable?
  15. My second sheet of WR brake van Transfers arrived today and I only ordered them yesterday while the paint was drying on another 3 Toads! A first class product quick. Now with darker blue back ground to help old folk like me see better where to cut. Thanks John
  16. I have acquired an unbuilt Comet Caprotti Class 5 kit. The recommended motor is a Mashima 1620 mounted vertically. I have one (but it maybe the last one on the planet as it's no longer made). It seems a tiny motor for a class five and I have concerns about it burning out. How much weight is overload for a 1 watt motor? My Hornby Black 5s are weighted up to around 320g but I believe that's a 2 watt motor.
  17. Thanks for this. I have a B R version and all the bits but had not started until finding the inspiration here.
  18. The thing is there were 842 Black Fives and no two were alike! However comparing Hornby and this one?
