  1. But generally the police were not heavy handed and didn't appear to get too involved, early on there was confusion which did lead to some questionable incidents that need not have happened, but as you say we generally complied. The difference this time around is that politics is at play in all this and it's no longer a clean message from Government to stay socially distanced and we're all in this together. The vast majority will still comply this time round when asked, but a larger minority may take the self interest approach this time.
  2. Production models will the Maroon with small yellow buffer beam, Golden Ochre with full yellow smokebox or large logo BR blue with smokebox end in wrap around yellow along with the cab.
  3. I'm not sure there was much heavy handedness by the police, confusion, yes but not heavy handedness. Were some difficult situations from outside influences and non covid matters but I don't remember us being a police state. I think the main isues that divide are closing down the economy because you cannot borrow forever and coercion towards vaccines rather than education and appealing to their better nature.
  4. A positive vote for physical exhibitions given where we are right now which sees any larger January/early Feb exhibition either cancelled or at risk. Might need a bus shuttle from Parkway for those travelling some distance
  5. Oh it is definitely his own party, the images and stories are coming from someone or somones who are very much in cabinet circles to have access to view the Number 10 gardens from Number 11. Boris had one job, deliver Brexit using his affable buffoon routine, after that he would stay until he was a liability to the objectives of those who are now openly walking about with knives unsheaved.
  6. Is that one with the 'Go Faster' button removed
  7. I know the exact post you mean and I remember when it was posted, I considered in my head the correct word and read the sentence as with it's desired meaning. Given the topic of the thread at the time it was a really nice sentiment being offered by said thoroughly decent modeller and completely on point. For someone else to pick it apart a couple of month's later and the manner in which was done was quite upsetting, that saying 'read the room' comes to mind. Quite often I make spelling and grammatical errors when posting and the likes I get back are evidence that people know what I meant to say and take it as such. Our ability to read and understand words nd sntncs is dpr thn smply th spllng
  8. @Hobby, for politicians, politics is not about what you see, it is about what you don't see, people store up this information as political bullets to be fired when expedient to do so. Time it right and you get a resignation or a loss in confidence that mortally wounds a politician's role. It's a dog eat dog world, people form parties, gangs, alliances and such like but many are really just in it for themselves. Clearly there is a lot of this stuff and it isn't just on the Prime Minister, Matt Hancock went when it was felt his usefulness was up and he could be a scapegoat. It is now the Prime Minister's turn, his office is under barrage now and it is only time before he too will be asked to step aside or face the consequences no doubt unless he can navigate a route through this peak unscathed.
  9. See comments on the Dapol Manor, at least the Mk3 is the right shape, perhaps the Manor will be too, but until the production models land in the UK and are in people's hands we won't know.
  10. Starmer has confirmed he will vote with the Government should it recommend further restrictions, so that ensures it will pass through Parliament, but he is referencing the internal tussles within Number 10 as a concern. So what will it be party or the country...........
  11. If it all goes Pete Tong in the next 4 weeks the right honourable member for Wycombe will not have his hand anywhere near number 10, there is a safer pair of hands in the party, he may be what the party needs to regain trust and be more of a conservative and, is so far unaffected by all this palava in Number 10.
  12. Quite. We can see from the reactions around Europe and the full lockdown in the Netherlands that we are not alone in this mess and a long way from being on the other side.
  13. I will add the one thing in the prime minister's favour at the moment is Xmas and the UK being on the cusp of the largest peak in Covid that we've seen so far. It would take a very bad judgement to try and run a leadership campaign right in the middle of all this, so that gives Boris about 4 weeks to steer the UK through the peak. If SAGE's worst fears are borne out and he has locked down then he will be seen as being a leader, if he capitulates and we still see SAGE's worst fears then his own party will have to learn to back him again to try and regain public confidence. It seems his future is perhaps attached to how well SAGE are predicting the next 4 weeks, no pressure on SAGE then!
  14. And what we have now is a critical situation where a prime minister will have to make decisions that could affect his future. If he goes with a lockdown now he will certainly face severe consequences from his own party with Labour likely to support him but twist the knife some more. If he doesn't go with a lockdown despite all the noises that something is needed then he will have been seen to have made a political decision which sacrifices the public. The simplest option for him is the Sturgeon model of appealing to the better nature of the general public to socially distance over Xmas without needing to go against the party or have to hold a vote that could be disastrous. In the meantime images of Government cheese and wine events keep on being posted to media to continue raising the temperature within the party. A change in leader is coming one way or another as it is not only a distraction but fraught with danger as the public are finding it harder to support a stance on public safety that is now so politically entangled and the leader is up to his neck in it.
  15. Given the Lima ones are from the late 1970s, just slightly younger than the Hornby ones and this is an Accurascale product thread I don't think you would find anyone on here going, "I'll give them a miss and completely rebuild my Lima ones" The general tone of this (and most Accurascale threads) will be that the product is welcome and eagerly anticipated as a major step up from any similar preceding model from any other manufacturer. I'd have a look at their other products to gauge an idea just how big a step up the models are.
  16. My xmas dinner options started at feed the 5000 size turkey, now I might just need a quail. I could do with knowing before I make the plunge
  17. Seeing as all the underlying messaging now is that there will be some sort of lockdown by Christmas day perhaps it's time to rename the thread again!
  18. I cannot believe you had to ask, surely you weren't expecting @Accurascale Fran to say they will all be perfectly matched
  19. So I guess I wont be travelling on a new high speed Liverpool to Leeds train in my current lifetime, will have to hope for reincarnation as another Northerner interested in rail travel.
  20. Anyone noticed, these are now branded as Heljan rather than Hattons. Looking at Hatton's site the only bulk of items left branded under Hattons are the O gauge Gresley coaches, then a few class 66s and a couple of P class, one Andrew barclay model and some Warwells. Lining up a Perestroika with Bachmann maybe?

    New hst

Wasn't it a King and they had to reduce the height of the cab to allow further mainline running?
  22. It's been a strange old week, on Tuesday I couldn't cope with a training session and had to bail from the meeting as I could not face dealing with anyone, my boss asked if I wanted a couple of days off but I declined as I felt being busy at work was better for me and I had a plan I wanted to plough on with. By the end of the week I had achieved my targets for the week, to finally get my head around a Blazor SQL connection for a small CRM I need to develop - this is something that had been troubling me since the summer when I was looking at .Net Core and trying to follow the Microsoft tutorials. Other work got in the way and I had put it to one side until this week, I found a useful ally in Tim Corey on Youtube and following his methodology I am away, turning out web pages in about 2 hours rather than staring at .Net Core models and wondering how the heck these SQL connections had gotten so complicated. Then last night I opened a Metcalfe station canopy kit - and today I completed it. Small victories add up and I feel this week that I feel deserved that distinction I got in my software development qualification early in the summer.
  23. I think you are going through a Kubler-Ross cycle and you are angry about the situation, rather than be angry directly at your health it is coming out in the model cancellations. As @rob D2says, you need, where you can, to keep modelling to help you take your mind off things and remain positive, but being mindful of the extra costs for other things you need to ensure you fight this cancer.
