  1. Andy did you post those pics earlier and then post them again? if not then I’m either going insane or I’ve been into the future as I read that post hours ago but it says posted in the last hour
  2. Am I correct in thinking that Falcon, The Fell and other such interesting prototypes were tested on the Manchester Central-Peak District routes? If so, is the reason that they never developed further not because they were not needed and simply because the line they ran on closed? "Mr Beeching, we'd like a fleet of Fells and Falcons please." "How much? Nah, just close the line instead, reason d'etre for the locos is now gone, so I don't need to sign them off, scrap the Fell and send Falcon to Wales as I fancy closing some pits"
  3. It can be witnessed in the news today with some people insisting they will continue to wear masks to protect others, TFL looking to apply different rules to National Rail, some shops already abandoning mask wearing. We're in a mixed up period where people are unsure, such a period is ripe to impact attendances at shows so I can fully appreciate why people have made the decisions they made.
  4. Except in this outsourced, produce stuff miles from it's birthplace world it makes absolute sense to take Shortbread make outside of Scotland as much as it makes sense to import coal to Newcastle (subject to appropriate Government Climate guidelines)
  5. Personally I like the idea of RevolutioN sticking to post steam stuff and Sonic concentrating on the steam era - it gives a clear distinction and there is a crossover period where both companies products complement. Likewise Accurascale and RevolutioN working together on some models like the Mk5s - it reduces risk, it delivers models to a wider audience and gives the N gauge world some fantastic models that would not be done by Bachmann without an OO equivalent. We should also be pleased to see Rails' approach to new entrants with exclusives etc as that is cultivating a thriving market now. However, Farish need to hurry up an announce the Peaks back in N so we can get that elephant out of the room.
  6. I get my Nvidia updates offered to me via Geforce Experience, I have to click to install.
  7. I am sure it's the one I have too, with black ends, I'd have to dig it out of the stock box, I'm blue grey at the moment on the railway.
  8. Inspection Saloon is BR Maroon! Maybe it is the black ends that is new
  9. So it is possible that the tunnels could be up and running with passengers in March, just as the Government drop all Covid restrictions - so has Covid really just been a massive cover up to mask the delays and over runs on Crossrail?
  10. I guess the easing of restrictions on crowds next week will help with the Phase 2 testing.
  11. I'm going to Model Rail Scotland, realised I am off work on the Friday, so I can go on the first day, that is much cheaper so I have booked a Standard Premium to ensure I am not on a crowded carriage - it's cost a bit more than the standard Advance but I don't want to risk being on a crowded train - not that it will be probably, but it's been a long time since I have been long distance and I am a little trepid. But I have my Covid Pass and masks so I am all ready
  12. Apart from the Turbotrain......his big regret, but rest assured he will put it right. Interesting no-one is wishlisting Sonic, they appear to be the steam modellers dream ticket at the moment for mainstream models that may not be touched by Bachmann or Hornby in the near term. Rapido seem to exist in the smaller tank engine market presently for UK steam.
  13. Little black locos are not under produced and sent out in poor packaging so breaking off their delicate steps and smoke deflectors
  14. Mr Bourgious has got himself a bit of work for North Face and Gucci - not bad for someone doing wacky videos.
  15. See my last edit, I realised as soon as I had pressed submit reply
  16. There is a similar difference between two 08s, one blue and one green - no licensing there. I've a feeling a price increase has gone through. Edit: I take it back, and go back to my first response licensing The 08 variation is weathering causing the difference.
  17. Licensing? Edit - Items due in April/May are cheaper than those due in June by 10 quid, I think it's a price rise.
  18. Looking on Hattons site it is model ID 26604, that makes it an original run model, hattons have none in stock apart from one in secondhand with a detached cab. Looking on Olivia's site, these models are returned items to Heljan that Olivia's have repaired - doesn't state what the repairs were but they are not new items, they are returns. https://oliviastrains.com/product/Heljan-266204-beyer-garratt-7983-lms-black/
  19. Using a different specialism - canal boats. There are lots of people who now produce Vlogs on their experiences on the canals and it's really no different than model railways, you get: Those with a love of the subject and share their normal experiences - Cruising the Cut is a very good example, though he has changed tact now and is doing special interest video rather than just cruising because as he says, everyone and his dog is doing that. Those who use it as a means to advertise their floating business wrapped in a vlog about boating Those who seem to have a calamity at every bend - I am talking about you Dad who dropped a nut into the hole where the oil pump goes and ended up with it embedded in a piston. It goes without saying I hide the last in the list from my feed, the advertisers can be as interesting as the first on the list if they do their videos well. Different topic - campervanning: I was watching a couple last week who had been driving a campervan around Iceland and compared it with another person who did a similar thing. The couple produce very professional content, they know how to light, how to frame and when not to film. They got a decent sized van and it was presented to them as a challenge to get around Iceland. A challenge? Driving on good roads in a European country? Methinks that was a little bit of sponsorship wrapped in some cunning language to avoid declaring it was paid for promotion. But overall the video was amazing, the sights were amazing and it made me want to go straight over to Iceland, get a campervan and do their trip myself. Then I saw the second video, done by a lone traveller (perhaps), she didn't have the big van, hers was smaller and it did not sound like it was provided gratis, her video of the same locations were very grey, wet and not as attractive as the couple's video log - clearly the lone traveller did not have access to the same equipment, did not understand the power of the lighting on shots as she did not chase the sun but followed a timetable to visit places in an order. My enthusiasm for a camping trip to Iceland waned on viewing it perhaps in more realistic conditions of the lone traveller. The point, two people can do the same subject in different ways, can elicit different responses from how their content is delivered but both be interesting without any need for antics, made up disasters or suspense.
  20. I've been looking at Avanti fares now for the BRM London show, a similar price if not slightly more expensive than Glasgow. So maybe I need a new baseline for what I can expect to pay for a train in this post lockdown environment, there are five exhibitions I want to visit between Feb and April, two-three I can drive to, and two need WCML trains and it's not like I have an orderbook for lots of models to fund at the moment. Maybe I can go to the ball after all.
  21. And apparently modellers...like I said, wish I hadn't said anything it only starts another fire.
  22. Are Hattons not relegated to what's in stock at the Warehouse now?
