  1. I currently have a rake of Dapol 16t minerals I weathered. I have bought a Parkside kit and would like to create a yard scene with it being unloaded, with a side door open. There are a few pictures I have found for reference but not many. Does anyone have any pictures of 16t s with doors open being unloaded by hand? Steve
  2. The 20 is 99% finished. I will revisit it in a week or so. The grease on the buffers looks a bit light for example. Taken in poor light. But here she is in the grot of Boxchester yard.
  3. Some more of the previous pictures. Including 47324. I cobbled this together out of bits of Heljan 47s, made the hand rails and the primer Headcode. This was the condition it was in when I first saw it.
  4. Discs are on. And it has been numbered with a mixture of Fox and Railtec transfers. Final weathering stage to come.
  5. I have a set of 5 21t coal hoppers. Two Parkside rebodied I built Two Hornby riveted which I am changing into welded One Hornby riveted And two different styles of weathering. So I am adding the detail where missing and I hope to weather them all so they look similar ish. We shall see how it all turns out. The random looking rake Adding wire and bits of plasti card. And this is the weathering effect I want on them all. Cheers Steve
  6. Thank you Simon. I have been off the forum for a while and am now beginning to find the time to get back into it. I am always on the look out on ebay for another reasonably priced Hornby 08 to muck about with. I will post up a few more of the older pictures and then concentrate on work in progress.
  7. Yes I agree. I might still experiment with the white paint on a bit of old stock. Hoping to finish the 20 early next week.
  8. Weathering knocked back and detail picked out on the bogies. So the basics are done. I am going to put this down for a few days now. Lots of fine tuning needed. It will be numbered soon. And knocked back with my light powder teqnique. The white oil paint didn't really work for me. Perhaps it was the paint I was using. Cheers Steve
  9. Paint knocked back with white oil paint. First time I have tried this tequnique. Dirt on the front ends. And a coat of wet weathering powder.
  10. Sad to hear this. RIP Mike.
  11. Class 20 with buffer beam detail. First coat of frame dirt and muck colour on the roof going to aim for a sun bleached effect on this one. It will be numbered 20055. Trying to add more detail to my hoppers. Very fiddly, so just a bit at a time. Cheers Steve
  12. All the pictures disappeared off the old thread , so I will repost some. I have picked up tools again currently weathering a 20 and mucking about kit bashing 21t hoppers so will post up progress 40012 Lone wagon 56001
  13. It worked. Good stuff John. Thanks. (I tried a few shots using the wide angle setting)
  14. Can anyone get these to display the right way up? I have tried everything. If not I will delete, as upside down pictures are no good to anyone
  15. Yes Rob. Exactly people could run it on late 70s as well as 80s layouts. Unlike other large logo examples. So to me it has always been the most obvious large logo 56 for a manufacturer to start with. I used to see them in banger blue at Reading in the early 80s. I diet of the same WR examples. And used to make trips to the Midlands to cop a few of the more 'exotic' northern examples.
  16. 56036 went into large logo livery in 1978. It seems a no brainer from my perspective. Hornby never did it, no surprise.
  17. Jim. Out of interest is it a bespoke map or a preset map that is put on? Do they do it on the road or rollers? How long do they take doing it? Is it an upgraded ECU? Seeing as the car is breathing quite differently now it sounds like it needs mapping again. A least it sounds like it is not running lean. Cheers Steve
  18. Get the Cat really hot as well. That helps greatly to get it through emissions.
  19. Me too, the world recently has become a far more uncertain place. And modeling and creating something is a good escape mechanism for us. And your layout I am sure inspires many. Keep at it.
