  1. Ready to go! If and wants to say ‘hello’ my real name is Robert and will be mainly behind Yorkshire Coast Tramway Layout.
  2. A busy day setting up the exhibition for this weekend but I think everything is going to plan. @Barry O your attendance will be required early as Mike and the team came, dropped the layout off and said we’ll leave the rest to Baz. FYI the hall is open from 8.00am.
  3. We are not allowed to provide food ourselves anymore but the centre does have its own small cafe on site. They obviously do teas coffees buns/cakes etc and I believe they are having sandwiches as well. You still need the big rucksack as there are plenty of quality traders there! Robert
  4. And check the opening times as some of the retail units arn’t open seven days a week. Some are closed Monday (and Tuesdays?)
  5. Looks like the population of Royston Vasey to me. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_League_of_Gentlemen
  6. Sounds like you got a better choice than CC as there’s not much in CC’s lunchbox. Its rather put me off my lunch.
  7. Brings back memories, we used to have Harrogate model engineers at our show at the International Center in Harrogate and they offered rides down the inside of one of the halls. Obviously nothing like what was on display a Friedrichshafen!
  8. Yes next to the Zeppelin shed at the Messe. We stayed in the centre of town on the lake side. Good weekend was had and enjoyed the exhibition which covered most forms of modelling , scale modelling that is!Cant imagine this happening in a British exhibition centre. This actually the passage way between two halls By the end of the day you could hardly breathe in the two hall given over to the model engineers.
  9. You’d better speak nicely to Steve Watson as he’s the man ‘behind’ the layout, both literally and metaphorically speaking! ( and he’s into his 80’s but better not mention that!) The layout is very labour intensive, the catenary wires need soldering across the baseboard joints and the vehicles need servicing regularly as the tyres become brittle and loose their grip.
  10. Here’s a video featuring Barnsley MRC Yorkshire Coast Electric Tramway. If you haven’t seeing it yet you might be better coming this weekend as I’m not sure if we’ll be exhibiting again.
  11. Thanks for the ‘plug’. Looking forward to seeing the layout again. We’ve got some good layout’s coming for more details seen the Barnsley exhibition thread.
  12. Some more model ships not far away in Friedrichshafen last weekend.
  13. But M67 and Woodhead running freely!
  14. Just arrived into Manchester and…….. its raining
  15. Re 4/4s weren't introduced until the mid 60s. As film is from the 50s it must be an Ae4/4!
  16. Ok then, layouts booked to appear:- Dunsfold Rd. OO Wentworth Junction. OO Lockden 009 Old Market OO Shirebrook N Yorkshire Coast Electric Tramway OO (with moving road vehicles) Arcadia Pennsylvania O Kamiack Falls HO Cherry Tree Halt 009 Shunting Puzzle OO NARTM Display of model road vehicles with an emphasis on Barnsley I think that’s a good selection with some well known ones in there so hopefully we’ll see you there!
  17. Ive been listening from across the See and cant say ive heard anything offensive.
  18. Continuing on the subject of non conventional propulsion systems, this is a good one. Basically a spaceship propelled the nuclear bombs jettisoned and then exploding behind the craft. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Orion_(nuclear_propulsion)
  19. Glad things went well. As I said things a bit fraught here.
  20. Morning All, Proper ER this morning and nothing to do with the smallest room in the house. Going walkabouts. Enjoy your day. Robert
  21. On the theme of unconventional ways of powering vehicles/railway locomotives/ aeroplanes etc I always thought this was as strange. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear-powered_aircraft
  22. Our club started taking electronic payments at last year’s exhibition, our first post-Covid and it seemed to go quite well. Its our exhibition next week and I can find out details of the system we use if that would help. On that exhibition theme, our exhibition manager is incapacitated at the moment and unlikely to be ‘fighting fit’ for some time. I think I may be a bit busier than expected. Better get some tables ordered. And perhaps I ought to seek a bit of advice on the old waterworks issues.
  23. Morning All, Smallest room in the house visited, breakfast been and gone and it’s still banging it down on the vaulted ceiling. Back later hopefully. Robert
