  1. On looking at it again, I'd probably agree with you. The Castle that I'm familiar with (Class 26's & 27's) was approx 12" high. I had a few of these spirited away including one mounted on a lovely varnished board/plaque made by the depot joiner. Sadly, a succession of house moves over the years have seen these gone, much to my dismay. Eastfield for sure had a large and small Westie and the original Inverness stag was an all white image before they adopted the Yellow & Black Highland Rail logo.
  2. Yup 47 118 had a 'large' castle for a while. It also carried the Dog and the Stag at various stages when it was based at ED & IS. An old thread here with some interesting pics: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/41399-large-logo-images/page-2 I was the Technical Clerk at Haymarket in the 80's. The original Haymarket crest was a red outline of a castle, but it soon changed to all white. I recall there was some kind of dispute with Edinburgh City Council who thought the logo was too similar in style to the city coat of arms and so it had to be modified. My fading memory tells me that at least one of the 47/7's when painted into ScotRail colours, originally carried the red castle for a few weeks. I might be getting confused with 47 708 Waverley, which had a Scot (gap) Rail logo instead of ScotRail. 708 will be a Ltd Edition release by the AMRSS at next years Model Rail Scotland, so I'm hoping they have the gap!. Apologies for hijacking this 37 thread with my musings on the Duffs. Looking forward to receiving 37 114 when it's released.
  3. All being well my 2 sound fitted Saltires should be landing on my doorstep in the next 10 days or so. Can't wait to receive these fantastic looking models.
  4. This announcement has made me very happy with the Class 26's being my personal favourite class of loco. I used to work at Haymarket hence my soft spot for them. I've currently got 9 of these Heljan models along with 2 of their Class 27's. They are fantastic models and streets ahead of the old Lima fleet they replaced. I'll be after some of the Coal livery ones for sure, and to renumber one of them into 26 001 (Haymarket 1988) Delighted that 26 010 is being made in Railfreight livery so that'll be ordered (Ayr 1985) Along with 26 026 in Blue (Carlisle 1982) Not keen on the Dutch livery but between the Blue, Railfreight and Coal sectors I can see my fleet rapidly expanding
  5. Ditto. Wondering how many locos I actually ordered !
  6. Received emails from locomotion today, one for the Class 66, the other for the 9F. I hope they realise it's the boxed set I'm after, not 2 seperate locos Dear loyal customer, Thank you for reserving your exclusive NCiM Evening Star Class 9f model with us – we are sure you as excited as we are!! We are pleased to inform you that production of your model is well underway. We are now waiting for final confirmation of the delivery date from our manufacturer, and we will send you more information on this shortly. Once we have confirmation of the delivery date, we will advise you of how to pay the remaining balance for your model. We will then require payment of the outstanding balance within xxx working days. Failure to make your payment by the deadline will mean that your right to reserve this model will expire. Any models which are not paid for in full by the deadline will then be put back on sale. This approach means that all our customers who have reserved a model have the option of priority purchase, but we appreciate that individual circumstances might have changed. There is very high interest in our exclusive NCiM Evening Star Class 9f model, (other email referred to Class 66) and setting a deadline in this way will help us to satisfy the demand. Thanks in advance The Locomotion Team I'm guessing the payment in xxx days is some fancy Roman way of saying 30
  7. GBRf have published this shot of 66 723 Chinook in a revised livery. It will be at Euston on Sunday for their Charity Charter. http://www.gbrailfreight.com/media-centre/news-releases/
  8. Thanks for the comprehensive photos. That is one incredible looking model. Absolutely stunning in every aspect. I'm sure it's prototypically correct, but my OCD is going to go into meltdown though looking at the wraparound spots on the ends
  9. It was on the very first pubicity leaflet that I picked up when 1st announced at Warley last year I contented myself with just the 2 Saltire variants, knowing that the Orange/Black will be coming down the line at some point. Oh, didn't realise they had now been shipped out to customers. Pictures, we NEED Pictures !!! My 2 are being sound fitted so I think it's late August/Early September before I'll have them.
  10. Arrived this morning. A stunning model in all respects. Comes with a numbered certificate, and etched nameplates etc. I'm delighted with it.
  11. Just had some despatch emails from Kernow. Both my 350 Desiro and my DCC fitted Class 66 Sorento are on their way, with next day delivery so I should have them tomorrow. Happy Chappy
  12. The NRM (Locomotion Models) are doing a boxed set along with the 9F Evening Star. The 66 will also be available seperately from them, and I understand is different from the planned standard Bachmann release. A high gloss finish perhaps? http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/119099-class-66-evening-star/
  13. Still waiting for mine, along with the Class 350 I ordered at the same time, which was meant to be due in a week past Tuesday. I got 66711 Sence from Trident Trains the other week, part of the 2017 general releases and see that the new EWS/DB versions are also in the shops, so I'm wondering if Bachmann have produced a complete run of their 2017 Class 66 liveries. I have Maritime One on order from Rails along with Evening Star from the NRM so not sure if they're both imminently due as well. Kind of hoping they're not, as my piggy bank is running on empty right now.
  14. Surprised but delighted at this offer from Dapol. I have the limited edition 68001 and to be honest, without all the fuss made on the forum at the time, I would never have noticed/realised that the body was mis-printed. Still, at £200 I do of course want it to be perfect so have taken up the offer. Opted to collect from Chirk (I think), by putting a comment in the order box. I visited the factory shop for the first time last week and this will give me a good excuse to go back. I have a feeling that this 'free' exchange may actually cost me a lot of money
  15. Update today from Hattons: http://www.hattons.co.uk/NewsDetail.aspx?id=171
  16. They have some big reductions showing on the price of their namplates
  17. Oh, that does looks nice. Ordered one this morning so here's hoping it comes this week
  18. Thanks for this. Could I ask what you get for the Dapol club and whether you find it useful?. I visited their factory shop for the first time on Thursday, but only had 5 minutes as they were about to close. It looked a little treasure trove though.
  19. Everyone's getting a key ring this year to celebrate the clubs 20th anniversary.
  20. Currently reviewing my own small print. Since this pic was taken in January, my Shed fleet has grown to 18, with 711 Sence picked up yesterday and Evening Star & Maritime One on pre-order. I already have a repainted version of Sorento, but the new Kernow one has the slightly revised livery ....
  21. I'd like to see THREE of them so that I can accurately portray the tripple headed ore trains !
  22. The last few pages have allowed everyone to air an opinion - me included - on the pros/cons of crowdfunding and also some specific and personal comments relating to DJM and the Class 92 project. Good, Bad or Indifferent. We all have a personal view. I think however that as pretty much all views have been expressed, we're now in danger of regurgitating (too lazy to spell check that!) old ground. Dave came on last night and committed to update everyone this weekend, which is a positive step. So perhaps we should now hold fire with further comments to allow Dave to digest what's been said, and why it's being said etc and come up with his own response as to how he sees things and/or any proposals or changes he wishes to make regarding how he communicates with us all etc. Let's all chill out for a bit. Me, I'm setting off now to the Merseyside Model rail show and swap meet at Hulme Hall. See you later folks
  23. Saturday 2nd September. Phone the club on 01455 841756 or email collectorsclub@Bachmann-europe.co.uk to reserve a place. Only 150 tickets available. Ironically, I'll be in the area that weekend, but my partner would crucify me if I suggested I was going to spend a day on the railway Went last year to the East Lancs day, and it was a great day out, despite the torrential rain we had all day.
  24. Will do Ian. It's a while off yet as we're going to be moving home later this year. Plan is for a new layout in the new home which will be built for DCC. I'm really keen for a system that allows me to run off a touchscreen tablet or laptop. I'm not overly keen on the various handsets I've seen which have small B&W screens similar to what mobile phones were like 10 plus years ago. My eyes are telling me I need the biggest screen size possible!
