  1. Agree with most of the points made above. As Crowdfunders we've all taken a risk by putting money down that we stand to lose if the project gets canned. In my case, 5 locos ordered so £150 paid out so far which I would be smarting big time if I lost it. Usual stereotypes about tight fisted Scots apply! Therefore, as investors/shareholders/customers or whatever you want to call us, it's for Dave to ensure that we are all kept regularly updated. Making a succession of promises regarding dates, and images to be posted etc and then failing to deliver - sometimes within a few days, e.g. posting on a Friday that someting will be posted on the Sunday/Monday and then it's not, does NOT inspire confidence to me as an investor. Seeing final cut-off dates come and go is further cause for worry. Whether this puts the project 'in crisis' I couldn't say, because we have not been given the information. Appreciate that Dave's forte is as a model maker/designer and he may not necessarily be as skilled in business affairs (my assumption, and no offence intended) but my own - friendly - advice would be that for this and future projects there needs to be a better way of communicating to us, his key supporters. My penny worth would be: Regular scheduled updates - for me every 3 weeks or so is sufficient The update - 1 or 2 lines is sufficient - is to assure investors the project is still developing. Even if it's stating "I've nothing new to report" it at least keeps us informed. Don't make promises of "I'll be posting images on X date" unless you know 100% you can deliver. In business, never make promises you can't keep!. Perfectly OK to say "I hope to be able to post images by the end of next week", HOWEVER, if this subsequently can't happen, then you MUST update ON OR BEFORE that date that 'owing to xxxxx this won't happen'. My biggest frustration, is checking this forum, seeing an update from DJM that something will be posted on X date, so I then schedule to check back then, only to find that there was no update and days/weeks go by without anything tangible being posted. I truly do not wish the above to be critical, but merely just my own friendly advice. It's based on nothing more that how I run my own business, where my Golden Rules are: Keep my customers fully informed. Flag up early if there's any issues/problems or potential delays. Don't over promise or fail to deliver. Above all, build the relationship of trust with my customers which ensures repeat business.
  2. I'm just about to embark on a similar route and currently researching DCC systems. Can I ask what finally swung it for you to choose the Roco z21? It's high on my list too along with the Dynamis Rail Controller that I saw at Bachmann's demo day last week. My current dilemma is that as a newbie, I want something simple to start with but will not leave me feeling short-changed as my layout/ stock and skills/confidence grow with experience etc.
  3. And very smart and professional looking it is too. No more stretched images. Well done to all involved. Just one small observation to hopefully alleviate any potential misunderstanding from prospective customers. I feel you maybe need to better clarify that the £50 is a pre-order Deposit and not the total price of the unit. Appreciate that for all of us on this Forum and the early-adopters - me included, placing an order for 2 units the day they were announced at Warley - that we all understand that the price is £210 + more for Dcc & Sound etc. However, there are possibly others who bring up the web page and think that £49.99 is the price of the unit!. Not wanting to appear critical at all. As I say, the new website looks great and I'm looking forward to new updates & releases.
  4. Was half expecting Strathclyde Orange to be one of next years releases. Hope it's still on the agenda for a planned release.
  5. Balance paid and sound options added for the 2 Saltire variants.
  6. I ordered the day it went on the website, which coincided with all the big players listing their 68's as being available - but in reality, about a week before they were actually shipping. My 68 came from DRS about 10 days or so after ordering.
  7. OK, apologies but a really thick question from me. I ordered each of the Saltire versions upon launch at the Warley show last year, paying £100 deposit. This was before I entertained the thought of going digital, which my planned layout now will be. Love the sound option in the posted videos so looking at the feasibility of adding that. My question - and apologies for being thick, but I'm still not really au-fait with DCC : Is it the balance (£150) + Sound (£120) that I would need to select or do I also need to select the DCC Option (£50) as well as the Sound (£120) option to get a sound fitted unit? Hope that makes sense! In other words, the option for sound, does that include everything i would need to run on DCC or do I need to buy a DCC chip AND the Sound Chip?. I really really want to get the sound option on one of these units but may have to flog off my other unit as wouldn't be able to get both just now. Will be looking to add a Strathclyde Orange one when they become available but hopefully not for a good year or so.
  8. Just ordered mine. Good luck with this venture and hope it's a big success for your club.
  9. Relieved that they didn't totally sell out over the weekend, and I'll be placing my order tomorrow. Here's a pic I took at the Haymarket open day in 1985.
  10. Oh yes. Having just sold off my old Lima one as I gradually update my fleet to Bachmann, this is one I'd like to aquire
  11. Has anyone had their invoice yet to pay the balance (if you went for the 50% option upon first ordering them. Was under the impression invoices would have been sent a few weeks back. Haven't chased as I'm skint right now so grateful for any delay!
  12. Corrected that for you. Starting with the Class 320's in OO
  13. It does. If the starting bid is £10, the reserve set as £50, and you place a bid of £60, then it will show you as the current high bidder at £50. Other thing to note is where someone also has a Buy it Now option, as well as inviting regular bids. The Buy it Now remains available until such time as the bidding meets the price set as the reserve, whereupon the item becomes just a regular auction.
  14. Thanks as ever Ben for the prompt response. I've one more question but will send a PM as it's not apprpriate for the general forum.
  15. Hi Guys, couple of questions from me as the deadline draws near. 1) Freightliner livery. The website says the Freightliner Heavy Haul livery is subject to approval. Do we know if this livery is going ahead yet? 2) Website also suggests you're looking into providing VTG decals to replace the Freightliner logo, as per the prototype. Any update on this? Getting really excited now that these models are very soon to go into production.
  16. Staggered that he's not got his £150 yet. Be quick, there's only 8 days left I'm confused though that he's listed the exact same 'rare' loco which currently is going for £17
  17. I like that he puts 'kit built'. When I'm scrolling through pages of listigs I use this as my in-built filter that I can safely 'ignore' the listing. It's an easy identifier of who the seller is without having to click to open the item.
  18. Over the past couple of months I've picked up 5 of these Heljan 26's & 27's as I work on replacing my old Lima stock. Prices have ranged from £55 to £85. Don't think I'll be bidding for this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heljan-2634-CLASS-26-BRCW-Sulzer-diesel-26032-in-RAILFREIGHT-RED-STRIPE-livery-/322450351392?hash=item4b1389e520:g:03MAAOSwCU1YxbV4
  19. I joined the club a couple of years ago, specificlly to get the Sealink coaches. Bought 3 packs to allow me to run a full length train, albeit with 3 brakes. With the release of the SK, I can remodel my train and will now look to sell on one of my packs. I've swithered the last couple of years whether to renew, but overall I'm happy to be a member and the day on the East Lancs Railway was excellent.
