Pretty much I'm afraid to say. This trader sent an email out with my regard to my order that it was completed, but with no details of posting, tracking etc. He isn't responding to emails, taking calls or responding to telephone messages and hasn't done for some days. His Facebook account has been deleted and a Google search reveals a marker stating "Permanently Closed", so you can draw your own conclusions. I've spoken to Visa this morning and they were very helpful. I'd report it to your card provider and trading standards asap as I have done. Good luck !

This is precisely why I'm now extremely selective with regards to Hornby products. Having had a similar experience with H, the item purchased if faulty is returned for a full refund. This is the only way QC will improve. After all, these models are not exactly being given away and when you look at some new manufacturers, the customer experience from Hornby leaves a lot to be desired.

I did wonder about that question, but didn't receive a reply from Hornby. Hopefully you will have more luck than I have in receiving an appropriate response.

An EWS version would also be quite welcome. I believe this variant has just been announced Dapols N gauge range. Fingers crossed !

I’m not going to mention anyone in particular, but they basically work out off a lock-up. You have to ask the question as to why Hornby have had two large percentage price increases in the last 12 months, whilst Dapol have increased their prices by 5% and Accurascale prices on pre-orders remain the same. After all, although smaller companies, their manufacturing, shipping and other associated overheads must surely be the same? These companies I would suggest certainly do not operate out of a lockup. Perhaps if certain manufacturers improved their QC, their price increases would be more palatable !

Ryan, Two versions are shown in the new catalogue, era 4 R3986 and era 5 R3987 both with late BR crest. Strangely enough though there is no reference to Evening Star. Both the aforementioned locos appear to be computer aided illustrations of the actual model. Hope this assists !

And in the case of the new Caprotti Black Five, it's a "Web Special Release" which is only available through the Hornby website.

Infact, Derails of Coleford didn't implement the Hornby January 10% hike on pre-ordered items to their credit. Additionally, locos are tested and inspected prior to despatch which negates the necessity to return items in most cases. I know where I'd rather spend my cash and that's with a small/independent.

If that's the case I predict quite a raft of cancellations for pre-ordered Hornby products. Fully appreciate inflation and it's effect globally, but 20% which we've had recently is not sustainable.

If I were you, I'd be returning this loco again to Hornby and asking for either a new replacement or full refund.
