  1. Ryan, Two versions are shown in the new catalogue, era 4 R3986 and era 5 R3987 both with late BR crest. Strangely enough though there is no reference to Evening Star. Both the aforementioned locos appear to be computer aided illustrations of the actual model. Hope this assists !
  2. And in the case of the new Caprotti Black Five, it's a "Web Special Release" which is only available through the Hornby website.
  3. Infact, Derails of Coleford didn't implement the Hornby January 10% hike on pre-ordered items to their credit. Additionally, locos are tested and inspected prior to despatch which negates the necessity to return items in most cases. I know where I'd rather spend my cash and that's with a small/independent.
  4. An enquiry on behalf of someone (Not Rmweb member) who is looking to buy a Class 45 from their website. He tells me he's sent an email over a week ago, but as yet has not received a response. Apologies re the heading and lack of ?
  5. Does anyone off know off hand whether or not CHC are authorised Bachmann Branchline dealers for the purpose of a manufacturers warranty?
  6. Thanks Ian, Having just watched the latest "Neville Grove" V2 Rails exclusives video it might well sway me. Enjoy your new additions when they arrive !
  7. Has anyone acquired 35-202 BR green St Paul's School as yet ? I'm wavering on this model and would like some feedback and some pictures if possible. Many thanks in anticipation.
  8. That's really odd as the latest ROS link showing all three releases, 60964 is clearly fitted with disc wheels wheels. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0225/2858/9896/products/IMG_2758_720x.jpg?v=1639736585
  9. If that's the case I predict quite a raft of cancellations for pre-ordered Hornby products. Fully appreciate inflation and it's effect globally, but 20% which we've had recently is not sustainable.
  10. If I were you, I'd be returning this loco again to Hornby and asking for either a new replacement or full refund.
  11. If you pre-order the Caprotti version, which incidentally is only available as a Hornby web exclusive you have the option to cancel anyway if the product is not as described or indeed not what you expect. A "Win Win" situation in my books which works. Additionally, no money is taken from a prospective purchaser until the item arrives in stock, so giving those who wish to cancel the option. Remember, no one's forcing you to pre-order !
  12. Maybe people are Pre-ordering these locos rather than commenting on a yet unknown quantity. When you consider the pricing at RRP £249.99 for the steam/sound version, which comes complete with a glowing firebox, operational lamps, this appears to be a very good deal. This model will without doubt be a very popular choice as this class of loco could be seen all over the network. Well done Hornby !
  13. Or you wait for the inevitable price reductions. Some of the original release L/N locos remain unsold in some shops even though they've been heavily discounted.
  14. I wouldn't hold your breath on that score. Hornby had the ideal opportunity to address the BR and GWR green on the most recent releases of their King class. Yet again, they paid no attention to comment or customer feedback, producing another run of locos in their now customary insipid/washed out livery.
  15. Would that firebox feature apply for all future new releases scheduled to be announced on January the 10th I wonder? This may apply to the delayed, newly tooled Standard 2MT, which already has a metal boiler. It maybe Hornby trying to standardise the firebox feature, which is a standard fitment on Dapol and Accurascale steam locos.
  16. A few years back Hornby actually accidentally released pictures and details of their forthcoming range before the official announcement date. Maybe we're looking at an all metal bodied HD version 9f with a glowing firebox? I don't recall these features being mentioned when the 2021 range was announced. Happy New Year all !
  17. Popped into the Papworth brewery bar in Earith Cambridgeshire yesterday before the usual Christmas Eve rituals. A special festive ale was on tap - Three Wise Men which is simply Christmas in a glass ! Wonderful dark beer with hints of oranges, lemon and cinnamon. A very pleasant winter ale at 4.6% ABV. The wife bought me these beauties as an additional present. What a wonderful lady she is. Recommended !
  18. My absolutely favourite dark beer. Enjoy !
  19. Bachmann V2 running session on YouTube for those interested parties :- https://youtu.be/uJv48IE7Y8c
  20. Still tons better than the Hornby rendition of BR and GWR green though
