  1. Also useful in showing what freshly loaded coal actually looks like! Very glossy that stuff, I wonder what grade it is? Tim T Modelling South Wales branches in EM
  2. Good to see someone else whose reading of instructions is like Eric Morecambe’s piano playing, “all the right notes but not necessarily in the right place” Tim T Modelling South Wales branches in EM
  3. Some of us more so than others Tim T Modelling South Wales branches in EM
  4. Free to a good home, all I ask for is a donation to CRUK at your discretion
  5. PM me your address if you want them, donation to Tony Wright for CRUK in lieu of postage Tim T
  6. This brings back to mind an occasion in the early 1990’s at Reading whilst waiting for my train home to Chippenham. A stone empty came through Platform 4 (as was) headed for the Berks & Hants. Balanced upright on the buffer beam of the last wagon was a radio handset! I can only presume that Acton Shunters were minus one radio. Tim T
  7. Going free, a 4mm set of Jackson-Evans GWR name & number plates for Star class Princess Margaret, #4056 name and number plates for GWR Star Class 4056, Princess Margaret
  8. Surely, being in Wakefield, it should be rhubarb crumble? Tim T

Tim, anh clue as to the actual chassis used as I have one in need of a chassis Tim T
  10. I suspect that the further one was from the eagle eyes of Swindon or Paddington the more “relaxed” the observation of the rules became ( except Operating Rules of course! ) Tim T
  11. Craig, I see another book purchase in the distance Tim T
  12. Having tried Google Images and various books on the GWR Star class without success does anyone know of any photos of #4048 at Landore, or even whilst shedded there, in the run up to her withdrawal in January 1953? TIA Tim T
  13. Ah, but what height did Heljan actually make them Tim T Modelling South Wales branches in EM
  14. Is that ethical? Who owns the intellectual property rights? Just a thought, Tim T
  15. As a married man the only time I don’t end up sleeping on the edge is when SWMBO isn’t here Tim T
  16. As we’re in the process of trying to sell our current house and relocate to Swansea/Llanelli I’ve had to dismantle my 16’ by 8’ double track continuous run layout. It had effectively been unfinished and stored since I got married 31 years ago! All layout building activities are on hold until I find out where we are going to be living Tim T
  17. Not sure if this belongs here but here goes. During a pre-relocation clear out I’ve found the following OO/EM LNER B1 components that no longer fit in my modelling interest. If anyone can use them drop me a PM, just pay the postage. 1) Set of Gibson/Kean-Maygib wheels for loco and tender, no crankpins! 2) Nucast B1 cylinder/valvegear kit, opened but never used, believed complete 3) Unidentified brass chimney, w/m dome and tender filler Tim T Modelling South Wales Branch lines in EM
  18. I have found this a very different sub-thread at the moment. I spent my whole working life in Railway Signalling Engineering until retirement eighteen months ago. I was also a member of a small gathering of like minded modellers for several years. The common factor between the two was the high percentage of divorced men involved in both activities. In the case of the modelling group it was 75% divorced! I must have done something right as I’ve been married for 31 years (though how much longer remains to be seen now that I have to spend so much time with ‘er indoors ) Tim T
  19. If IRC that was when Landore closed to steam? Tim T
  20. There is absolutely no reason why you can’t build your layout to reflect the actual ground profile, even on a level floor. You just have to treat it as two elements and not build a traditional “flat” baseboard frame. Tim T Modelling South Wales branches in EM
  21. I suppose the one on the right is much harder on the arms? Tim T
  22. To slightly hijack this thread, I did something similar to a Hornby pannier body some 30+ years ago, before I got married! It has been “converted” to a representation of a 64xx long before the Bachmann one was dreamed of. The smokebox top was filed down flat and a replacement chimney fitted. That had fallen off when I rediscovered it a week ago (whilst looking for something else as one does). It has a scratchbuilt chassis, made from plasticard. It is fitted with a coupling at one end only as it is/was intended to work with a single autotrailer. I hope this inspires someone. Tim T Modelling South Wales branches in EM
