  1. These are the words they used - "These changes are being made to allow us to scale, align intended usage with the various offerings, support advanced capabilities for Fusion 360 subscribers, and stay true to our guiding principles of democratizing design for everyone." Still not sure what they mean though. I suspect they will shortly announce a new entry level offering at an "affordable" price with these features, or am I really just becoming an old cynic?

    Neuburg

It will indeed, spent last night writing captions for the photos.
  3. If there is no continuity, they are faulty and that leads to 2 options. Return and request replacements or at your own risk, try to restore connectivity by soldering a bridge wire in place. As soon as you go near them with a soldering iron though, that's the warranty fininshed. Never experienced that sort of problem but have not bought any recently. Guess it may be a batch related issue if you have 3/5 failed.
  4. If you go to the "Shape Generators" "featured" there is a shape called "extrusion" - looks like a cylinder on screen but has different properties on the work plane. Should be able to create your curve with that and remove excess with a hole tool.
  5. Rule 1 - your railway, you run what you like!
  6. No - my understanding is the radius are too tight on the Bernina section from St Moritz to Tirano. section for longer vehicles.
  7. And there is all the fun of painting the wire! Tip on that front, it is one job where acrylic paint is a waste of time, you really need enamel. Humbrol Rust Wash was my pot of choice. https://www.humbrol.com/us-en/enamel-wash-rust-28ml.html
  8. I think we are actually one step up from that at the moment - the insurers simply cannot price the risk and are declining to provide cover there are so many unknowns to factor in. The situation regarding insurance against loss due to Covid is very unclear - although credit to Magnet, they are quite clear - others at best are ambiguous. Through a charity I am involved with, we are currently in dispute with our insurer and our claim is with the ombudsman. The Financial Conduct Authority (the insurance regulator) has take a the insurers to the high court to try and resolve some of the conflicts. The judgement is expected on Tuesday 15th September. https://www.fca.org.uk/firms/business-interruption-insurance#latest-updates While this case is specific to business Interruption, I am sure the principles that flow from it will be applied to other forms of cover. I suspect that for quite some time to come, organisers will have to carry the risks of Covid cancellation / disruption themselves and this will impinge of their willingness to organise events.
  9. That's where I am currently but want to see if the Kadee's do a better job. When I get my resin printer - and understand Kadee's - I will explore making something.
  10. Hats of to Peters and DHL - package collected yesterday afternoon and delivered today!
  11. Thanks - there is one sprue of each in the kit but not the 262. Looking forward to experimenting with this.
  12. Many thanks for the insights - much appreciated. Have ordered a sample pack from Peters to experiment with as the pack seems to be designed to cover all the bases. As was mentioned, they seem an acceptable compromise visually and at the moment - the specific project will be single buffers so one less problem. Having access to 3D printing and a resin printer shortly, I may be able to devise some bespoke devices to attach them neatly. The idea of movable magnets is interesting - may well experiment with them attached to a servo to operate from the laptop.
  13. Anybody got experiences with Kadee or similar couplings on HOm? Not planning a major swap over but a number of vehicles for shunting. Particularly interested in reliability of operation i.e. staying coupled when you want them to and uncoupling when you want them to. Words of wisdom appreciated and any suggestions of alternatives to look at.
  14. Oh lordy - I could see that plan becoming a cement works in about 1.8m X 0.5m.
  15. I would vote YES for getting the look and feel. An excellent interpretation in my opinion.
  16. No - but the Cricut Maker can cut styrene. I believer the Maker and Cameo 4 have similar pressure capability and a lot more than earlier models. This Schoma shunter body from styrene, windows from acylic sheet and vinyl window surrounds were cut by the Maker.
  17. Maybe worth drawing up your list of questions and e-mail each of the suggested suppliers to start with, not sure how warm a welcome you would get in the current climate or if you would be able to get any hands on time with their kit.

  21. I think this does what you asked for - the suggestions above are excellent - particularly Inkscape. https://evandesigns.com/products/model-builder I have used the Evan software for a number of years and like all software, if you invest some time and effort into developing your skills, you can get good results. Best results are achieved by multi layering to get 3d depth, particularly at doors and windows, just as Metcalf etc do.
  22. Only issue I can see is the turntable, you need a commutator or similar to switch the polarity as the table rotates or it will short out. Better with 4 than without.
  23. Remove all other locos from the track you are using. If you go to "programming" "read address on xxx" where XXX is maintrack if connected with the green terminal, service track if connected with the red - and see what value you get. That will be the programmed decoder number. Train should then run if you select that number.
  24. Its an anomalous scale / gauge combination - but looks very good! Not sure about other curves in the Bernina line but the Brusio spiral ranges between 50m and 70m radious - so at 150 scale, between 33 and 46 mm - certainly, I would not be surprised if the Alp Glum curve was less than that. Stock on the Bernina Line is generally shorter than elsewhere on RhB to allow for that situation. Stock is a bit constrained by the unusual scale/gauge combination but between Kato and MDS there is a growing range.
