  1. HAPPY NEW YEAR Wishing you all the best for the coming year. No.1 daughter got me a jigsaw for Christmas: Any guesses on the end result? Paul.
  2. You can use extra switches on point motors to stop the opposite one moving when it shouldn’t. But the MP1 only has one switch which is needed for frog switching. I would expect iTrain to be able to manage the conflict once you have got that far. Until then, you just have to instill good practice and always set the other crossover straight before setting one to crossing. You can still share the same dcc address for each of the three way points and the appropriate other point - it doesn’t help with the three way conflict, but it doesn’t make it any worse. Paul.
  3. Are they lamps or LEDs? (Or a mixture of both?). Advice will vary, depending. And, do you have a means of measuring voltage e.g. a meter? Paul.
  4. You can’t post until you go down one more level. Select the area on that page and the next page should let you post. Paul.
  5. Thought that was what it was. Built myself one using a 33,000uF capacitor and a 2N3055 many years ago (without the protection). Some years later I successfully resurrected the capacitor by charging through a 1Mohm resistor. Gone slo-mo now, so when I find it again it will need the slow charge once more. Paul.
  6. The Birmingham destination is International - I assume for airport traffic. Paul.
  7. Mr. Cardboard King. I was always amazed by what he achieved with packing cases and printed overlays. Always an inspiration. Paul.
  8. Not a furriners thing, just a Met Office thing - UK Met Office counts the same way. ;-) Paul.
  9. The turntable is a reflection of the original - Ramsgate Harbour. The original had measures in place to make it safe for operation: on one road, there was a run off to buffers and the turntable was normally set to the other road so that there was a safe path a cross it. So on the proposal for the model, I would have run offs to buffers on the two outer approaches (could be dummy points) and the turntable set to the centre road whenever running in to that platform. Paul.
  10. Hi Jonathan, I’m pleased that you have retained your sense of humour despite all that is happening. And glad that you’re home. Although not very good at remembering, I’ve been mentioning your situation to the boss when I do. Paul.
  11. So long as there is one in service, it’s just a case of being at one of the island platform stations and waiting max 24mins til it arrives, and then (possibly) going the long way round for your journey. Enjoy. Paul.
  12. Nor at Glasgow Central. Both NR operated stations . . . If anyone from that company is reading . . . ! Paul.
  13. Any wheel skates visible? 50p is a big flat, but I don’t think it would stop something being moved slowly to a siding. So I wonder if it was something like a traction motor deconstruction that locked everything solid and that’s why it took so long to get it off the running line. Paul.
  14. I believe so. Interior is as all the others, but a bit cleaner! Paul.
  15. HEATH TOWN SIGNAL WORKS ? WHO KNEW! Not sure how else I’d work it onto the layout. Haven’t run it yet - it’s surprisingly heavy. Diminutive but beautiful. And part of my history too. Paul.
  16. Thanks Ian, I realised that Door Contrast requirements would have changed the look so it’s good to see the difference. But they’ve done as good a job as they can whilst still meeting the modern rules. Paul.
  17. Could be worse, they could have had 24mm too! Paul.
  18. A “takes me back to my yoof” photo. 2Y12 at Bromborough today. Paul.
  19. How about this 2Y09 at Port Sunlight today. ”Oh dear, it’s only a three car” was my reaction when I saw the departure board . . . Its very smart, and they’ve done their best with the interior too. Paul.
  20. Presumably via Dee Marsh to reverse. There’s only one way to find out! :-) Paul.
  21. Is there an updated index in this topic? Or anywhere else that doesn’t require me to have an iTrains licence? Thanks, Paul.
  22. Their successors got to Aberdeen so why not! Paul.
