  1. The seller has probably confused “Pullman” with “Pacer”. Easy mistake to make until you set foot in a Pacer... Cheers Darius
  2. Some vertical adjustment to the upper scenic level to get the gradients of the helix connections to work. Followed by some re-planning of the loco depot. Cheers Darius
  3. Wow, there's irony for you. Darius
  4. Speaking as a former avid plastic aircraft kit modeller, the number of kits that I would buy in any given year far outstripped the number that I would build in the same year. SABLE indeed. Judging by the number of “how big is your stash” topics in the model aircraft version of RMWeb, I was not alone in this behaviour. To paraphrase SNL’s GW Bush: don’t misunderestimate the spending power of plastic kit builders. Cheers Darius
  5. Second trailer coach completed. Now all I need to do is remember where I stashed the driving coaches. Cheers Darius
  6. So we have eighteen pages (and counting) of debate ranging from:- - Is this a diverse hobby with respect to age, gender and ethnic background? No comment... - The merits of capitalism vs communism/socialism with examples from the soviet space programme of the 1960s. - Philosophical debates as to what constitutes "modern image". - Are DCC point motors "special" or just regular point motors with some fancy electonics attached. - RTR Polish steam is the next big thing to happen in our hobby. - There are perhaps fewer or possibly more model shops in the UK since 1996. All this after just one episode. Good effort James!!! Cheers Darius
  7. Its a University research project, you're not supposed to make sense of the figures. Its not like they actually visited every town to check that these shops were actually there... Darius
  8. Second centre car re-sprayed. Cheers Darius
  9. Is this the fight James May was alluding to in Episode 1?
  10. Track planning today. Old wallpaper rolled out over the baseboard and marked up locations for a 3-road engine shed, turntable and station. The island platform tracks will be laid with gentle arcs rather than as laid out here and the station approaches will be on a gentle curves, but this gives an idea of the sizes and locations of each element - essentially what will and what will not fit. Cheers Darius
  11. Pretty much done. One more to do. Cheers Darius
  12. Currently repainting some Bachmann Class 170 centre cars to form a 4 car Class 171. Progress so far:- This started life as a distinctly “greener” Central Trains coach. I have been using Phoenix enamel paints airbrushed on. Once completed they will accompany a Modelzone 2 car Class 171 that I converted to DCC a couple of years ago. Cheers Darius
  13. Hi Xander, My understanding of DCC is that power in the track is full on and the throttle is in the decoder within the loco. Furthermore the track power may be AC rather than DC with the rectifier circuitry in the decoder. Thus any DC locos on the track would either shoot off at full pelt or respond badly to the AC supply. I am sure that others with much more knowledge than myself can expand further. Cheers Darius
  14. Very sorry to hear of Colin’s passing. His modelling was truly inspirational. Darius
  15. You’ve got to be strong to “wring” a bell. Darius
  16. Interesting. Keith Revell also drives a truck in Canada - rather a lot it would appear... Keith Revell, Truck Driver Darius
  17. Are you checking with the FBI? Or should that be the RCMP?
  18. For a second I thought Heljan were announcing an APT model. That would have caused a rumpus... Cheers Darius
  19. Your inability to understand perspective and angled surfaces aside, the door window issue may be due to an errant brush stroke in filling the window locations with black paint rather than something more sinister. The phrase “clutching at straws” springs to mind here. Darius
  20. If you believed they put a man on the moon, man on the moon If you believe there's nothing up his sleeve, then nothing is cool Cheers Darius
  21. Now planning of the upper scenic level can begin in earnest Cheers Darius
  22. Some more progress today - spiral exit installed and upper level laid in place (but not fixed yet).
