  1. Is there going to be another run on the oo gauge version...??
  2. Any product announcements or updates from the big players today..?
  3. 'think we can live with a bit of temporary disruption with our toy trains. Spare a thought for those people around the world who are worrying about where their next meal is coming from.' Yes and those people who have lost their jobs or closed their business's
  4. Wow. Do you know what... I think youve got it.. This actually sums up the situation perfectly.. I get the feeling myself hes not actually bothered.. And yes little ability but grandiose plans.. I joke about 00 gauge with him a lot.. Maybe ill knock him up a micro 4mm layout for his retirement present!!
  5. Scratch built Locos!! wow .. I may look into building that yeoman shunter one of these days … Nice to see the vids... its good to just get things running. I remember the days of those old Lima and Hornby mechanisms and trying to get them running in the loft.. never could be done .. we are lucky these days..
  6. I hope it works out for nigel. British steel and all that.. Ive been a fan of his and Rail express for a few years. I note the first few articles have seen some re hashes of familiar principles and projects. Its hard to get the balance right I'm sure between what we want, what we need and new stuff. Lets see how it goes...
  7. A newbie i know is attempting to implement DCC into TTgauge with sound. A lot of boxes of sound decoders have been bought over the last few years along with various resin bodies, kit bodies, chassis, wheels for this and wheels for that.. An 08 was started 5 yrs ago with little progress.. Part of this is a nostalgia of his first set as a child but im wondering if its time to give up and choose a scale where things can be achieved.. Be interesting to know if anyone has ever done TT gauge dcc sound and is there enough space..? Either way I believe it requires massive skills and experience in modelling. Even with my good experience I would not be confident.. Thoughts..?
  8. I found the best way to do vids is put em on YouTube and paste the link. Looks like what your son has done. Not much on the workbench, just maintanence of locos and stock. Although not strictly related to the thread, I am toying with adding a stay alive to my sound shunter after changing the speakers to sugarcubes. I am patiently waiting for the Dapol 59 to break cover.. I attempted a Mrl jna but not altogether pleased with it. I may add to the rake of network rail jna or freightliner mfa.. Sooner or later.. Im a bit anxious that the bank balance will be taking a spanking what with all these new models coming... One of my Guitar spent a few minutes on the workbench.. New strings and bridge.. :-)
  9. Wah brilliant!! I wish I had dedication to build longer rakes..!!
  10. A shame to see his website go after many years.. And without explanation..
  11. Just stumbled across this whilst looking for something else. The instructions give fairly good explanations on changing cv values to suit your preferences. I think they are very good. I also found studying a few clips of the real loco on YouTube ect helped me set up TTS diesel decoders. I dont think expensive decoders come perfectly set up either.. Let us know how you get on... How about changing the start voltage to begin with...
  12. Nice to hear Dapol have recorded the sounds of the class 59.. At last!!
  13. Anybody know if coastal dcc made it...
  14. Tock tock tick tock... Maybe in a container now somewhere in Southampton.. Who knows...
  15. Anybody in the know, know if this means 59s will be repainted into yukkie FL livery..? Please not!!
  16. Yes by the time you have built 500 of something the errors and faults can be found and clear way forward for design for the next 500,so on and so forth. Only build 50-60 of such a complicated machine your asking for problems. The cost goes down with high volumes and more tech can be built in. The 59s are a no brainer.
  17. From modern perspective it is a Shame no Blue 56 coming as several versions are needed.. Same for the 08 and i thought maybe Hornby might think about developing stay alive for it and improving it with lights.. A retool on the 37 would be obvious but this will probably be announced by someone else now.. More Lima 66s from a bygone era seems baffling but they must be selling.. But efforts in trailblazimg seem lacking..
  18. Well said. The stir that hattons updated 66 is causing and has caused and will undoubtedly cause is staggering, even if the bachman one is acceptable hattons looks like taking the hobby to another level. The 37 is due similar treatment and this was Hornbys chance to blaze the trail.. Looks like someone else will do it and I certainly have money to spend.
