  1. I miss the regular updates too. Come back, all is forgiven!
  2. I also recently bought something from Gostude, and was a little disappointed it all went smoothly! Not heard anything yet after 2 days. I would argue there was not a postal problem - the packet was delivered. It was a packing problem, it wasn't closed.
  3. Made my first order with Olivia's Trains earlier this week. It arrived today. Sort of. Can you spot the issue? I have emailed them asking for replacement parts, will let you know how I get on. They don't seem to have the best reputation but I am open minded for now.
  4. High Level Kits- downloads the gearbox planner thingy (under resources) https://www.highlevelkits.co.uk/downloads and pick your poison

    Oxford N7

That may be Hornby implementing their stupid tier system on Oxford stuff now they own them - i.e. not cancelled, just stitching up retailers like Hattons and their customers.
  6. So freightliner should continue to use Electrics, but put the price up to cover the increased costs? How many lorries would that equate to when customers move away? Assuming they have drivers of course A coal powered UK power station is running again because of the increase in gas costs. Sadly we've closed most of them and the pits hence we have to rely on imported gas - you can see the problem with that now...
  7. And GER and LNER enthusiasts are eternally grateful for his doing so.
  8. Good A retailer who usually stocks Markits parts was waiting over a year for some items they had ordered so you did well!
  9. For me there are a couple of reasons to use a DJH or other RTR (Ready To Install?) motor and box combination is: 1) The kit manufacturer recommends it - because the kit is either designed to fit, or it has been tested and confirmed to be a good choice. 2) If you are paying someone whatever the going rate is for building a kit for you, it may well work out cost effective to use instead of paying for a box to be built, tested and installed. However, the cost and flexibility of the HL range is great for my needs. I did try using a Markits box for a 7mm loco but just could not get it to run quietly (no doubt user error).
  10. The only place I know is here - https://www.scalelink.co.uk/acatalog/Sundry_Items__Lead_Foil__Chain_Etc_.html Quite a way down the page.
  11. Strange place to find a Southern loco
  12. I can understand it being an accepted (if not correct) manner of checking on a track walk - but I read the first mention of a kick being by the investigators. Would a tap with a hammer give any clues, similar to the old check for broken tyres? Probably wouldn't ring out even if good but it might be possible to tell. Those screws are pretty strong - do they break often?
  13. Very scientific 62 The failures of the multiple track screws were not immediately obvious when RAIB attended the derailment. The upper part of each broken screw was held in its associated baseplate by a plastic ferrule that had been compressed around it during installation. These ferrules held the broken screw heads tightly in the baseplates, so that they could not be turned by hand, and felt solid when given a kick. The failed state would similarly have been hidden from visual inspection, and from any test kicks from a patroller’s boots, making detection by a BVI difficult.
  14. Pondering whether making a tender behind joke might result in a ban...
  15. Interesting - we ended up ditching taking card payments because of the complexity of passing the PCI questionnaires - it insisted on any computers that card details were entered into were on a separate network to anything else and so on. I say ditching, we moved it all to the website and used a plugin the card provider supplies and says covers us. Curious that cheap little boxes are exempt...
  16. You can get card readers that plug into a phone line - and actually these are easier to satisfy Payment Card Industry requirements as over wifi needs decent security. Although phone lines are of course an endangered species now.
  17. I don't think I know how - but a colleague managed to delete the email server at work today (5 minutes before the hourly backup...) so I'll see if he can diversify.
  18. We have a Facebook page to tell us when the forum is down - as Facebook is now down perhaps we should host a page to tell Facebook users? Fair's fair after all https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/facebook-instagram-down-whatsapp-latest-b1932071.html Might get a few more members out of it too
  19. To be fair, Jesse has half a planet headstart. Actually, yes, very quickly indeed.
  20. So. Now you've proved this, when will you be turning your hands to a proper livery? P.s. this isn't a wishlist. It's oldfashioned straightforward begging
