  1. Very sad 🙁- his name is familiar, do you know if he was involved in other new builds?
  2. I also tend to over engineer stuff. But then I also don't finish stuff so maybe I shouldn't say that 😀
  3. Fortunately for my wallet I didn't find anything to buy, but it is certainly easy to navigate.
  4. *might* be worth it for the Romford wheels but that's about it.
  5. You would need different underframe tooling of course, and then a plain (no beading) end and the roof. The joint on the real ones were just covered with a panel
  6. They converted quite a few - 260 4 wheelers were made into 130 54ft bogie coaches: The ones built as bogie coaches from new had square topped doors but were otherwise visually very similar.
  7. The buffers are a variant of LNER Group Standard so incorrect for its current livery - they have a round base whereas the standard Standard has a square base.
  8. And you can use two bodies on a bogie underframe to produce coaches that lasted until post ww2.
  9. Strong bidding on that lot then...
  10. Reminds me of this video. Not sure the barriers should lift when they do - needs an optical sensor!
  11. The E4 would be a sight to see as well - but we do have a couple of GER tender locomotives in steam or under overhaul. I think only the N7 is a GER tank that has a prospect of steaming soon.
  12. Ooh, which Panto are you playing Captain Hook in?
  13. I am indeed a member, and of several LNER oriented groups :) Oh and HMRS, several loco new build/restoration groups and of course, this joint. I probably ought to cut down, I appear to be addicted 😁
  14. Or Peter Walker... Which reminds me, I haven't heard back from the message I sent last week.
  15. Ok, but apart from that, what has the GERS ever done for us? 🤡
  16. If there was ever a loco that deserves to steam again...
  17. The only Accurascale loco I have had to pay up front for was the Locomotion 37 - so not through them anyway - and I see that even Locomotion now offer a £30 deposit for pre-orders. I started buying when the Deltics were announced and that was quite some time ago and not had any issue.
  18. Totally understandable and you have to draw the line somewhere.
  19. It's easy to understand why they didn't to an Eastern version - they saw the quality that varnished teak had, and realised that they couldn't do that as then nobody would want to travel on the other regions 😉 By grouping, the GE was using crimson as well mind.
  20. Well it had better not say from a pet free home!
  21. It's frustrating for me all these years later - how many extra door hinges, handles and commode handles I have to do as a result 😁
  22. No doubt they deliberately didn't mention that prior to the end door design, each compartment had it's own door on one side, and there were several doors on the corridor side - e.g. D21, D23 and D115 TKs had 4 doors for 8 compartments. Presumably returning to that style was ruled out due to cost and structural integrity reasons.
  23. I umm'd and ahh'd about voting for Ivor but realised that yes I would buy it.
