  1. I've done this with the plasic bevel gear from RG4 units. Over the years I've acquired several gear boxes that had this gear missing along with the final drive gear. The latter are easily obtainable, but not the bevel gear.
  2. The Maunsell moguls should have the return crank trailing, as should the N15x. Most locos fitted with walchearts valve gear had the return crank leading.
  3. If you look at the "HO" range, the wagons clearly originate from the Bachmann Branchlines "OO" range.
  4. Interestingly, the French Government and Catholic church have been under increasingly harsh criticism for not addressing serious structural problems in the fabric of Notre Dame. The latest major restoration was not addressing these. It now seems they will have unlimited funds to fully restore it.
  5. York Minster captured the British psyche hugely. Most of the restoration was funded through donations, appeals etc.
  6. Strange how things so big can vanish with no ideas as to their fates. There is a suggestion one sank, but some think it unlikely.
  7. Yes. Definitely a George Allan kit. Shame yours has been through hard times. The kits built into very nice models.
  8. It was shot at the Stapleford park miniature railway back in the Lord Gretton days. The railway still exists.
  9. One Big improvement that none of the manufacturers have got right is the rods and valve gear on steam locomotives. It is always far too 'flat without any of the substance of the real thing.
  10. As suggested, get a set of A.Gibson universal rods plus a set of London road alignment jigs. I've used this method several times and it works a treat.
  11. Bachmann have released their own non NRM Cities. Birmingham and London are 2 that immediately spring to mind.
  12. Signal passed at danger. Tut tut, you'll have the high and mighty from the ministry descending on Little Muddle.
  13. A light railway such as proposed would not have the luxury of extra motive power to provide banking. The suggestion of dividing trains at Puddlebrook would be far more prototypical and interesting.
  14. I do know that, speaking with Dave, the moulds are knackered and they don't think they have all the masters. So a re-release is unlikely.
  15. Another long shot, but could try branchlines or SEF, since they hold the nucast range and there are a small stock of old etches. They may be able to take a pic.
  16. Been on the market since at least 2017. It was featured in the Telegraph which stated the line is 400 yards long in 5" gauge with steam and electric motive power.
  17. They sound like Westdale kits. I've built quite a few and have a number stashed away. I'll try and dig them out for comparison.
  18. The biggest proponents are Pendon Museum. The biggest hurdle you'll find is sourcing wheels. Ultrascale used to do their range in EMF but I don't think they're available anymore.
  19. My apologies. 1st I replied to the wrong post, then I got the name wrong. It's Bill McGowan not Jim. I'm having a bad day.
  20. You could try Jim at ACE kits which was previously McGowan. I know the moulds are still in existence and held by Langley Models who do (or did) his casting. I managed to get a replacement tank casting from an old N1 kit some time back. Apologies. Replied to the wrong post. This is about the B12 kit.
  21. its a wonderful feeling when the first train runs, isnt it. I imagine it must be doubly so after all of your rebuilds. Congratulations
  22. maybe, though fine detail would still get damaged and the issue of maintainance is still an issue that requires very careful consideration.
  23. but keeping that ease of access from below allows any errant trains an easy route to the floor and isnt much use for maintenance access.
  24. a continuous run really is so useful for all the right reasons. The only point I would make is with so much hidden track, make sure you can get at it all easily. It is the law of sod that any derailments will happen in the most inaccessible place and that any maintenance required will be in the same places.
