  1. Happy Father’s Day to everyone hopefully you all get spoiled. Unfortunately my dad isn’t here anymore but it’s his fault I am into this wonderful hobby (and also my brothers are due to the same influence). Will find out later if my son remembered 18 yr old and too caught up with his girlfriend and work I reckon but if he has forgot I will forgive him (eventually)! Mark
  2. Hornby seem to have had an update on this page of their website with items up to May 2022 listed. Not surprisingly probably due to global events many items have slipped back such as the mk4 coaches and class 87 but it’s a really useful tool for planning spending etc. Some items though seem to have disappeared altogether such as the scotrail 47 and Blackpool brush tramcar but hopefully they will reappear soon. (APT still on for next month though with extra coaches later in the year- that’s all that really matters)! mark
  3. Is this one of them you know you are old when the super detailed models you were so excited about in the day get super detailed again!
  4. Thank you for the update while I knew of delays in China thanks for giving a little more detail- I never considered but should have realised migration is affected and factories are facing staffing shortages. How are these workers living though will they have found jobs closer to home? Will they return to the factories or will there be a chronic shortage for some time yet. My toy trains are obviously secondary to their welfare. Anyway the class 37’s look awesome am now considering ordering another as there is time to save!
  5. When you are talking to the new student on placement and realise you worked on nights with her grandmother!
  6. They can only be right at the start of the process as the real thing has only recently been completed- got to be 18months- 2 years away (I know optimistic)!
  7. Oooooh can I be the first to comment Wow!!!
  8. While I can’t remember which product particularly I have seen variations of up to 3 or 4 points which could be the difference between a nice treat or not!
  9. The consultation document on the reopening of the Fleetwood line is apparently complete with options such as heavy rail or extending the tram system. No indication which option is preferred or even if it will happen!
  10. Good going Jim it’s that thinking outside the box and looking out how you can incorporate exercise into your daily routine although luckily it’s the time of year and weather for the outdoor stuff. Inspired by your journey am considering redoing weight watchers one niggle with it is though when you scan a product and weight watchers haven’t themselves scanned it but other members have and you can have varying points values for the same product!

She will be easy to find if she glows in the dark. Thank you we will see what the bloods show.
  12. Not that I recall (but happy to be corrected) the early Hornby one did though.
  13. I find you tube useful particularly if I am having trouble taking the body off a loco etc but I do find the ‘influencers’ really irritating I will make my own mind up thanks I don’t need any influencing! I did watch the guy who was doing the Hornby rant about his ‘injun’ which was faulty definitely 10 minutes of my life wasted!
  14. Yes the class 67 had working lights although the headlight above the cab was non working. No other Lima diesels ever had lights as far as I recall.

Incidentally I was told black cats don’t rehome that well as they are not photogenic people don’t want them but this thread is well populated with them so somebody (including me) likes them!

I had to check she wasn’t dead!
  19. I think a rise of hospitalisation would be a better indicator rather than rise of infection numbers only in regards to lockdowns etc as previously stated by others if people are just suffering a few days of mild illness and we are not overwhelming the nhs then that is positive. Although a statement I heard the other day which made me stop and think was that every new infection is potential for a new variant so it’s in everyone’s interest to keep transmission rates low.
  20. Sorry just reminded me of the diabetic patient we had who said she ‘accidentally’ ate 4 hot cross buns one after the other! Thems the accidents you want to avoid!
  21. Thanks Neil Sorry don’t want to ask personal questions (as in are you tablet or insulin and don’t really want to hijack the thread) so I won’t but I was only referring to tablet rather than insulin controlled diabetes. The issue with tablet is that if you have a high bm you can’t bring it down quickly it’s only over time it comes down (or with exercise). As you rightly said however everyone is different not everyone can exercise and some people will be more sensitive to medication and diabetes than others and you also have the added complication you outlined above. Finally my experience comes from 25 years as a qualified nurse some of that as a community nurse looking after people at home with diabetes I have seen and treated the foot and associated leg ulcers (including amputations) and you are correct (and as a warning to those with uncontrolled diabetes) you really need to take care of yourselves and luckily I didn’t see 49000 of them! I did speak to one of my practice nurse colleagues about the cost of machines and test strips and luckily they have come right down now so they are not too reluctant to give them out although in her experience it wasn’t a factor anyway. Obviously your experience was different. Generally though the message is take your diabetes seriously . cheers mark
  22. There was a recent update in an email- they couldn’t get access to the loco where it was and due to COVID but the email stated it was still on the to do list.
  23. Didn’t want one wasn’t going to buy one but then Rails popped up with that email, so now pre ordered! Mark
  24. I always thought hba1c as a better indicator as it gives an average over time. BG readings may not be that useful if you are not on insulin as if it’s high you can’t bring it down and if you are following your dietary advice it shouldn’t be high. I stress though I am talking about non insulin controlled. The issue can be some people do get obsessive about their BG reading. Mark
  25. Have done WW previously along with the missus and we have had good results but you get out of the habits and the weight goes back on! We stayed for the first meeting but following the reading out of someone’s poem we vowed never again! Have got a high hba1c so have to lose weight again have cut down but need to do better. My problem is when at home I get bored and start looking for food it’s a really hard habit to kick particularly if you don’t realise you are doing it! Keep going Jim hopefully I will be on track soon too!
