SteamingWales replied to AY Mod's topic in Bachmann
Thinking aloud. One would assume that they will be available from retailers after the Winter announcements in November? -
BACHMANN REVEAL MODERN-DAY LADIES AT FFESTINIOG RAILWAY EVENT
SteamingWales replied to AY Mod's topic in Bachmann
Well against my better judgements I have ordered the pair as I have been wanting them in current condition. Looks like I will need to start a 009 layout now 😬 -
Dapol to produce Hawksworth Q13 Inspection Saloon for Rails of Sheffield
SteamingWales replied to AY Mod's topic in Dapol
In case anyone is after W80974 currently on the NYMR, Rails have just announced it as another option https://railsofsheffield.com/blogs/news/new-railway-icons-announcement?fbclid=IwAR0q6p3Kq8Y93lkbI_p17jmO0R2EkyjboFydXEIwfOhKl7050tCBF0fWadc -
Time for some actual modelling! Over the past few weeks I've had opportunity to identify parts of the layout that can be progressed that don't necessarily require a layout and the pendulum swang to the bike sheds at the end of the coal stage embankment. Very few photos of these structures exist, mostly being in the background (see bottom right) so some modelling license has been employed for details. I can at least say that they are 2 separate structures, likely of corrugated metal or wooden construction and general shape can be implied. So I went for the larger of two sheds being corrugated metal and the other wooden with metal roof. These are now in the paint shop so hopefully can show them off soon. I've also acquired some of the ModelU water cranes which I can progress with. The problem with these however is I ordered the wrong arm lengths for both after a quick email to the ModelU team they have offered to do a straight exchange for the correct kits. Another little detail associated with the water cranes at Aberystwyth were these what only can be described from first glance as "white boxes". A little research and asking later and turns out they are coal stores for the fire devils. These should make for a nice easy CAD session for a couple of 3D prints Finally I'll end with this photos from the warm spell earlier this month. Happy modelling everyone

I do think plates are a very personal thing. I had fitted the etches to my 7802 and 7812 but when the Railtec transfers to renumber my 7800 to 7823 decided I liked those more so took the etches off and ordered the sets for the other 2 so they are all consistent. If I hadn't renumbered 7800 I would have probably stuck with the etches as they are good quality Kudos should also be given for the fact that the smokebox plate is on brackets as per prototype Vs moulded onto the smokebox. First time I've seen it on a OO model and after a quick Google only the Rapido 15xx has the same. The new tool Hornby black 5 for example doesn't have that

This doesn't answer either question but the majority of the Machynlleth allocated Manor were based at Aberystwyth so normally worked the Aber to Shrewsbury thorugh leg (and return) in one day and kept the headboard. The loco charged with the coast leg was normally a 22xx or 45xx/4575 or 63xx/73xx or later 3MT or 4MT though I'm not sure if they had a headboard or not EDIT The answer to the headboard question can be yes and no This photo has only the Aberystwyth portion with headboard... https://railphotoprints.uk/p212161752/h3f92d675#h3f92d675 ... but this has both Aberystwyth and Pwllheli portions with headboards https://www.rail-online.co.uk/p404170585/hc1e9796e#hc1e9796e

BR 16t Minerals, By Accurascale
SteamingWales replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Very handy indeed What is the best way to change a pre-order with yourselves (and keep the 10% discount)?? I'd like to change my pack of 109s to the one with both pressed and fab doors Given they were announced only last week, just cancel and re-order? -

This sort of formation seems a pretty good represenatation of what I'm after with my packs! -

I've somehow managed to get away with buying 16T wagons for my shed layout so this is just the ticket. I'll need to do some homework but I think 4 packs are in order! -
Model Rail Magazine Vale of Rheidol 2-6-2T in 009
SteamingWales replied to phil gollin's topic in Smaller Suppliers
These definitely look promising! I'll have to get at least one to go alongside the standard gauge Aberystwyth shed I currently have under construction You can at least justify up to 3? Right? -
Already have for 2021/2nd batch models 😅

So I moved in at Martin Mere last week and this is the view from the living room 😍😍 I do also have a desk so have set out on little modelling jobs. The first being adding etched nameplates the 7802 and 7812 I should be able to migrate over a few other bits and pieces so more modelling fun in due course!
