  1. I wasn't expecting that! It's not for me but I will certainly be interested how the team manage to fit the sound and stay alive in such a small loco
  2. Well the Facebook post regarding the announcement finishes with this... Better get the kettle on for this one... 😉 So inferring a steam loco?
  3. Oh wow OK 👀 Just gone though my preferred retailer and the preorder comes to £228 or... 1x V14 3x V16 (including the BR breadown red) 3x O11 1x O15 Best start a) saving up b) rationalise the order a little Rapido are really really really doing us GWR modellers a favour with their range. Now can we have a Collett Goods (GWR 2251) to pull our rakes made entirely of Rapido GWR wagons? Pretty please 😇
  4. Final bets. I forgot to add my mandatory image to every new announcement thread
  5. I guess based on the YT channel and the fact Ally Pally is in London it will be a LT loco. Probably Met 1? Only other thoughts are a 57xx due to their LT connection but would rapido really produce 3 different panniers in quick succession 🤔
  6. So life has been a little hectic of late with bad news and good news. The bad news has meant that I haven't been able to put more funds into the project of late hence all the bitty catch up modelling (although that's still important) I'm not in a position to share the good news yet but it is GOOD news Onto modelling. Looking to improve rolling stock I got out my black paint to improve the look of my two Standard 4s. I can see why some modellers do this as it does give them more weight and look less toy like with shiny tyres Another thing that I have sat on for ages is the coal stage where I replaced the main brick arches above the track but never properly painted or mortared them. Well not any longer Since first painting the coal stage and subsequently working on other buildings I have become unhappy with way the mortar looked on the coal stage with the structure looking very red and the mortar very faint. So rather than just do the arches the full stage has had another wash which has brought it more in line with the shed and stores brick work Happy modelling and hopefully next time I will be able to share the good news
  7. It can be pretty bleak up on Ilkey Moor during the winter. The photo is from White Well which is about halfway up the side https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Wells The gutters are the ModelU system. It is pretty good for going around all sorts weird angles with various down pipe shapes which can all be separately ordered
  8. Hopefully everyone is staying warm with the cold weather. It has been rather snowy in Ilkley and forecast to be -7 over night 🥶 On the layout I've done a little more on the Stores. Having looked at the previous photo above the gap between the gutters and walls doesn't quite look right with the light shining through. To that effect I have added soffits to the building to fill in the gaps. Although you can't really see them it fixes the lighting issue I've also added a door to keep out the cold westerly wind coming off the Irish Sea
  9. Well it looks like these have all been delayed again by another 3 months! Just checked the Hornby website and they are all now either Summer or Autumn 2023
  10. I can have a rough speculation. 7818 and 7821 were both Tyseley engines between 1953 and 1959, plus 7821 has an 84E shed code confirming this is correct so, so I can go for a general area. If I had my "Peto's Register" to had I could likely date the photo a bit better to by the intermediate tender 7821 has. Unfortunately generic tracks and signals doesn't make giving an exact location particularly easy
  11. I only remembered that at the end of the programme with the "Next Time" showcasing the Black 5 I presume they went to the NRM because Mallard is "iconic"!!!
  12. I had intended on doing some modelling this evening, though I came back to find the "Peto's Register" for Manors had arrived Think I will be nose deep in the book all night instead
  13. That's a great photo! Really shows the variance with different tenders, liveries and condition. Does the unidentied Manor have a redraughted chimney too? Reminds me of this photo...
  14. Hmm Just looking at the models and thinking about renumbering and how easy it will be to remove the coal hopper? Ideally after a model with Westinghouse pump and cage bunker but this isn't a combination which is offered ☹️
  15. First thought if it is a loco is another steam loco. The Manor is imminent so it would make sense to ride the steam wave and announce something new A MU is a shout as well IRM has one so it's only a matter of time before the A/S has one too? Personal preference would be some passenger stock for the Manor I e. 60ft Collett "Sunshine" coaches
  16. Which is equally as inspiring and informative as the Engine Shed
  17. Work on the layout has been a bit all over the place currently. This is mainly down to the baseboards being incomplete so that I cannot majorly progress with track laying and some building elements requiring extra material. So I thought I would pick up on the stores building to paint the roof and add the gutters and doors ModelU gutters added to the building ☝️☝️ and 3D printed doors recieving a coat of paint 👇👇 One other job has been renumbering and re-cresting the two 4MTs that have been kicking about in the earlier layout photos. The tenders are complete and I am awaiting delivery of numbers from Railtec
  18. The wash is pretty light. It is just a case of going over very lightly with cotton buds. They do come out a little pink but it doesn't take off the brick base or the brick highlights
  19. Just been catching up on the thread and brilliant modelling as always Just to clarify on Cambrian Shed EVERYTHING is painted using acrylic. I fell out with enamel a few years ago and only use it on very rare occasions now. The method is as described, taken from Everard Junction on YouTube. His modelling is top drawer so mine should be too? Right? 😅😅
  20. I can definitely see the first 2 fitting in the range. 14xx as a friend for the Manor and Siphon (and hopefully some GWR coaches in the future) The Andrew Barclays are a perfect pairing for the Chaldrons and NER 20T I don't see where the P Class would fit with everything in the current range. How often would a P Class and the SR Banana vans have met?
  21. A pretty good list. I'll tke the K22 Full Brake and C32 All 3rd please!!!!!
