  1. Any photos of actual crew? Apprehensive to order any ATM based on seeing previous colour prints
  2. So when do we actually get to see what is in the box? I.e. not the foam or the plastic sleeve or the instruction/info sheet or the extra part bag but an actual Manor?
  3. I said it in the actual topic but it is only £10 more than the Rapido Dynamometer car and in terms of detail it is comparable, maybe even better with the tail lamp and DCC control Currently it looks like my only big purchase for 2024 as after the A/S Manors I have no need for any other big ticket items currently available RTR
  4. Maybe a stupid question but how were these propelled? Not in terms of motive power but were they pulled behind the locomotive or were they pushed "autocoach" style (but without the linkage)
  5. Can also use a Standard 4 4-6-0 if that floats your boat.
  6. Already seeing complaints about price on social media 🤦 I was a bit taken a back at first myself but then looked at the price of the Rapido Dynamometer car and it is only £10 more. Plenty time to save up as they are at least a year off yet I think I will put in a preorder for the WR Choc & Cream version
  7. Looking at the fuzzy image on the YT thumbnail. Is that a cream head board and red buffer beam on the right?
  8. The Black Label A4 was from quite a few years ago right? I'm not particularly clued up on the range so what was actually offered in terms of features?
  9. I'm waiting until payday to get hold of some more laser cut inspection pits, buying 4 sets for the she is quite pricey. So I have decided to focus on some of the smaller details for the shed. For starters some footplate access ladders and a trestle that just seems to randomly kick about the shed... ... And a bit of a storage area for down the side of the boiler house
  10. Mandatory "I got an Accurascale Siphon G" post Not exactly the most appropriate for the current layout but I guess you can call it future proofing 😏 Still, these weren't the commonest of stock with most milk traffic going south to Carmarthen and any that did go to Aber was probably tankers from Pont Llanio (I think). The more likely working for a Siphon during my period would be in the Aber-York mail train so it will be an additional vehicle for that train instead
  11. The plan is 7800 and 7802 kept as is. Swap the tenders of 7812 and 7800 (the 2nd one) to back date 7812 to 1960 when she first arrived at Oswestry with a rivetted tender with narrow horn guides and then turn 7800 into 7823 as upto 1962 she had a flush tender with wide guides, cross reference from various photos to confirm this is correct. The above photo is circa 1962 when I assume she had been to Swindon and was one of Aberystwyth's "best Manors" for working the CCE. In quite a few photos there is normally the main subject Manor and then one or two hiding in the background somewhere. They are usually also an ABW and OSW Manor rather than 2 of the same shed. Looking at the Shed Bash UK page there was always an OSW Manor at Aberystwyth during the visits
  12. Alright. So I was looking at everything placed on the layout wondering what to do and finally decided it was about time to give the coal stage tank a roof! So the first step was to add some tabs to fit the roof former on... ...and then fit the former, this was shaped to the rough curve of the roof with warm water... ... then add the corrugated roof... ... and then plonk it on top of the brick base 😀
  13. When are we going to see someone exclaim that they have had an email from DHL of shipment 😅
  14. There is obviously some communication that goes on based on the Rapido newsletter from March 2022: Most manufacturers, particularly smaller ones such as ourselves, talk to each other. We have a rough idea of the areas we are all working on and things we would each like to do in the future. We make phone calls to ask others if we might tread on toes and likewise also receive calls. We have certainly avoided clashes on several wagon projects and one locomotive project this way in recent months. Sometimes it works to the advantage of another project. A call in late January resulted in us dropping plans for one 0-6-0T locomotive which enabled us to accelerated the LBSCR ‘E1’ into the now empty slot in our schedule. At what point do Trading Regulations come into play? Is it when saying "We'll do this, if you do that", rather than the above quote from the newsletter with "we are thinking of doing this" and getting a reply of "might be worth steering clear" I think we would all be interested though to find out which manufactures are on the above "speaking terms"
  15. I think I read it in the Rails thread for the vans that they had held off announcing them until the Rapido ones had sold through It works both as IIRC Rapido didn't announce the Minks until Rails lot had sold through too Anyway back to Accurascale?
  16. Some more progress on the front end of the shed. First orders have been attaching the shed doors so now the front end of the shed is nearly complete. I've also been painting the other set for the rear The postman today brought some DCC Concepts sleepers with solder pads so that I can finally split the track Having done so I set about testing with 72027. I would use a more appropriate engine but the long wheelbase allows it to run over the joins onto the unpowered sections and is also the most "complex" in terms of wheelbase being a 4-6-2 tender loco. All good so far 😁
  17. Not the best of photos given it is a screen grab from the photo from the 2800 announcement. Are those decorated samples of the 43xx????
  18. With the news of Dapol releasing a new 2800/2884 do we have our answer? 3802 is within the general release though so maybe not 🤔
  19. Where to start then 😅 Top of my list would be 7822 (possibly my favourite Manor) in BR Green with Late Crest as this is how I remember her on the Llangollen Railway. Any of the 89C Machynlleth allocation would be welcome (in BR Green) as this seemed like a big omission given their association with the route, just please not 7823 as I'm renumbering 7800 to 7823 😅 top of that list for me would be 7818 I could wish for more but that would be excessive. I don't know whether it was mentioned in the original release but is there a plan to tool the straight sided, redraughted chimney that some of the Manors had? Looking in Peto's register 7809 is highlighted as have this at least
  20. Potentially. I'm looking to do a tender switcheroo between 7800 and 7812 and then renumber 7800 to 7823 to get the right loco/tender combination for my time period I guess it's an awkward one really as do you sell underframes and tanks separately or a ready to swap full tender. I for one am happy to wait for subsequent runs for locos I'm after, though with 2x late crest locos in the first run with different tenders the task is a little easier already Is this an excuse instead to start wishlisting for batch 2?
  21. I've had a bit of a hiatus from modelling recently having started a new job but decided it was about time to carry on with the shed doors. The front end doors have had their details picked out in black and are just about ready to be fitted at an appropriate time. I've also printed the rear end doors. These differ slightly as one set will be closed and one open. The closed side will go on the road where the lifting gantry sit if modelling the more of the back of the shed. This line will operate as a dead end so with the doors modelled closed there isn't temptation to simply reverse a loco out of the shed on a road where this wasn't possible IRL with the other set open
  22. I stumbled across your original build some time back but good to see you are still modelling and planning another layout at some point. I do find the 1958-62 period really interesting as it is at the point where many GWR prototypes were still present on the network but with the slow advance of BR Standards onto the Cambrian makes for a real variety of locos without GWR or BR classes being dominant I have 4 (yes 4) Manors on order!!! 2x 7800 for renumbering, limited edition 7802 and 7812
