  1. Hang on... Just had the brain wave based on the clues. The second photo is of "Acacia Road". And which animal is most associated with acacia trees??? GIRAFFES 🦒 I think Rapido are ACTUALLY rejuvenating the Triang Giraffe Car 😂
  2. The comments in the social media posts suggests Banana Vans?
  3. So in between laying a little more track and giving the walls in the previous post I have started to think about the smoke troughs and roof supports. All of it is very very rough proof of concept. The rafters are made using T beams and will have plastic strips forming the rest of the frame. The plan is to have everything fixed together with 3D printed parts in the hope that the rafters can be somewhat consistent. The smoke trough is again very rough made from 1mm card. So rough the stack was about 4mm misaligned! The biggest issue I think is getting the shallow angle of the trough correct which I always find a bit difficult so might have to think how to achieve this accurately and replicate it 20 times (10 troughs with 2 sides) N.B Ignore the magic floating trough. It's propped up with a bit of polystyrene that was 'magic erased'
  4. That has been my other idea though I'm not sure I personally would be able to build that well enough 😅 My other idea has been something in between with 3 or 4 wall sections at either end of the shed and the centre open with just the foundations showing to provide a divide between the ballast outside the shed and concrete hard standing inside This means the front of the shed will still be good for photos as the front end won't have a big squiggly cut in the wall
  5. So with a delivery of wood I have finished off the two fiddle yard with each end recieving end boards and cut the first hole. I was watching a video of Statfold Model Railway Exhibition which featured a layout called "Hackworth Engine Shed" http://hackworthmrg.co.uk/page18/ I've been thinking for a while how to tackle the side of the shed that sits on the main viewing side the layout The cut away seems a sensible option for Cambrian Shed too as it will Allo and will allow a good view into the shed as well. Any thoughts would be appreciated
  6. Hello. Hopefully this is the right place to ask this. I'm currently building a small layout and need to think about lighting and how best to achieve this with the current structure (below photo is of one half) My thought is simply running LED strips along the top supports but will this be enough? Also any recommendations for actual lights would be much appreciated TIA
  7. The below photo from about 40 years later than the previous posted gives a good indication of what went on with the platform surfaces at Aberystwyth. The GWR rebuilt platforms (1&2) on the right are fully paved but original platforms (3&4) on the left were never fully paved and it looks like the gravel areas by this point had been tarmaced over. I suppose at the end of the day there is so much variance you should just go for what you think looks right?
  8. Just pulled this photo from CC Green. It appears that the platform under the canopies is fully paved and then the varying amounts of paving and gravel further along. It appears the ramps were fully gravel with only the edging stones
  9. A rolling stock update that isn't Herring related! 6MT Seafarer has had a temporary shed transfer down to Neville Grove in Kent. I asked Steve to give her a shed clean look with this finish based on photos of 72007 on an RCTS tour. The work is now finished and she looks AMAZING 😍😍 These are just a selection of the 70 odd photos Steve shared (and happy to share more if anyone wants) And the reference image 👇👇
  10. Yes please! One surprise to me with batch 1 was that there were no Machynlleth allocated locos in the main batch given the class' association with Cambrian mainline. Some numbers not previously done in the A/S and Dapol runs would be great
  11. Hmm.... Mine says 2 and a bit days (Saturday at 12)
  12. A little more progress on the hopper with the end supports added. Unfortunately one of supports was damaged with no spares, but was easy enough to fix with some 1mm plasticard cut to the correct shape
  13. With progress so far I haven't had any major problems. The ones I have had have been of my own doing 🤣🤣
  14. There is now a count down timer on the A/S new page https://www.accurascale.com/blogs/news
  15. What! Another announcement! Must be some rolling stock? Personal preference would be GWR Sunshine coaches adding to the GWR items with both the Siphon and Manor due imminently Maybe some articulated stock for the J67 to run with?
  16. You say that. In reality I have just pile everything up on the opposite side of the desk 🤣
  17. Damn side projects!!!! So I somehow got distracted and ended up buying 4 Cambrian GWR Ballast Hoppers So my grand plan was to build the wagons in a batch run so I do everything all together Only problem is after 3 hours I had the axle boxes and buffer beams fitted to them all and half the brake rigging fitted to one 😅 Hopefully now I know what I'm doing with the rigging I can crack on a bit faster!
  18. Time to mark down this evening as a momentous occasion. This is the first section of track fully fixed in place and wired up. Now where is that DCC controller 🤔
  19. Apologies for dragging this topic up I've managed to get hold of 4 these kits and was wondering if there are any pit falls to be aware of when assembling or any photos of a finished wagon? Thanks in advance ☺️
  20. These look awesome 😁 Glad the paint colour on the Crimson version have been much improved as they didn't look quite right Bring on delivery in the next few weeks 😄
  21. It might have already been discussed here but has anyone attempted to make the sides of the coaches flush as per the below photo?
  22. Baseboard progress 💪 the left hand board now has back board and front fascia. I'm a out 75% of the way to getting the RH (based on photo) fiddle yard done with the LH to be worked on tomorrow Spring is definitely here too as I was out working in a t-shirt in the afternoon
