  1. .He is really the only team spokesman who will open his gob on demand and saves awkward questions being asked of its true boss.Thats his job if paddock rumours are true .He has no team input at all .My daughter worked with him way back and turned down the offer of a chance to be a potential Mrs Horner .Her description is beyond the decency parameters of this noble forum but she assumes the ex spice girl is desperate for publicity.
  2. F1 used to be a spectator sport in the sense people arrived at circuits ,usually by walking miles ,paid their money and watched a rarely exciting motor race or two,got high on Castrol R and dodgy fuel ,got soaking wet or sun burnt and went home happy .Circuits got done over by Ecclestone and greedy teams It all that changed as TV took over and Bernie fleeced the circuits ,sold their soul to raise two spoiled daughters. Its really more like an American stadium experience now. The public still love their racing but its nothing like it could be .
  3. Looked like a tyre test to me .They ought to make a sprint tyre to last the distance.
  4. Figure size is easy and not variable .Measure its head .Not its head and hat or hair just head size .An adult human should be roughly 7.5 times the head size .It can vary a bit but not much .This is the basic skeletal form ,the wire armature etc .Its the same proportion for any scale . Children vary as growing ,head is larger etc.If you want a 1/36 figure then sort out its height ,divide by 36,divide by 7.5 to get ist head size and start sculpting .Anatomy is quite precise as is nature unless it all starts going wrong ie dwarfism . A figure is only accurate if its in proportion .If not it is a caricature. So measure any figures head not its height .You will be shocked. PS I want some more Yank trucks please from Oxford .
  5. Its steamers are rather splendid too with passenger stock in pullman green and gold doric stripes plus plated rods and cylinder covers .Some steamers were streamlined too.i painted most Frisco brass for Victors but some Hallmark locos are not as good as some .The lovely 4-4-0 has too small cylinders and the 2-8-0 doesnt like corners.
  6. Southern Pacific and Frisco .I also like the Colorado narrow gauge and loggers so a fairly eclectic mix .My layout is SP based but I may have to sneak in some dual gauge to test out my Hon3 stock.
  7. Lando doent give a toss about money .His dad has so much he doesnt need to .He is very complete as a driver ,far more than many having done the lot including Ginetteas. All he cares about is racing , basically since the age he popped out probably with a race game in his hand .Shame about Danny Ric though .Who would imagine his troubles.Often drivers are great on certain tyres but change the spec and their drive goes out the window .
  8. Classic Team lotus identified 80 different matt blacks available.....
  9. dont need to it works for me
  10. I think ebay is fabulous .A huge worldwide market that if you are wise and careful can reap huge rewards.Of course things can go wrong as with any system but if you stick to the rules its a very handy site .
  11. Never mind all this weird British rubbish .What about the shay ?
  12. My one had perfectly lined up tender /loco level .One screw under the cab was tight and the other loose.
  13. You could also drive a sidecar on a provisional licence and any capacity bike .This was greatly abused by yobbos driving large bikes with weight on the sidecar frame .I even saw a Gold Star rigged up by a twerp going to the 59 Club, L plated flapping in the wind .We sold a nice Bonnie which ended up the same .Brought tears to the eyes .
  14. Here is a weird one.Dated 1954 and a British Ford in shot.Photo by Otto C Perry . Denver Public Library
  15. You dont know what you have got until its gone .I was planning some dual gauge H0n3 track using Shinohara switches and now they have stopped being made Some should stop trolling others .Track is a choice as indeed is degree of accuracy .Dont forget everyone else on the planet thinks we are daft including Mr Rod Stewart.
  16. My daughter has a 500 . She uses for the school run as her CRV is a bit big for parking .She loves it.its the one with the glass sliding roof and fancy mags .
  17. I have a 2002 golf Mk4 auto ,the full monty version with flash pooter .Its in reasonable condition with just a few wheel arch dents following an altercation with a multi storey and me .We dont use it much mainly to take the dogs out a few milesfor favorite walkies and the vets .The aircon pump is gone but it only has 114000 miles so is just running in .All the brakes were done last year..Is it worth doing the dents and aircon pump(500 Quid) , still debating whether its worth keeping instead of spending a few grand or five on something newer though not actually better.I do like it as drives well and suits us but its not really a classic keeper.
  18. Who knows ?.Maybe Bottas is a dream test driver that sets the car up for a greater driver .Happened lots of times before . .Barichello is brought to mind and David Coulthard. Both kept by teams for their abilities other than winning .They lack the final killer moment themselves but can set a car up to get the maximum they cant themselves achieve . I can quote a certain chief mechanic who said to me .Blah blah isnt a great race driver but he is great test driver .The other one wins races but only only knows which end is the front as its got a point on it .
  19. I hear the navy primed its elastic bands ready to counterfire but they were rotten due to being WW1 issue post office rejects .
  20. All my middle class type friends had Hornby and the less well off Triang except one whos father looted as much Marklin as he could while liberating Europe.
  21. I felt since day one of my daughter telling me about what was happening in Italy that the planet was altetred forever. There are only two types of humans .The ones who grasp it and the ones who dont .The ones who dont are slowly killing us by stupidity and sheer ignorance.
  22. I assume Hattons can go the further mile on detail as they do not sell to dealers often if at all so they keep the money each model earns where as Hornby sell all over the world to shops etc and profits are split .So maybe 25-30 per cent extra detailing money is allowed..Who knows .....?
  23. The Bachmann 80 tonner 3 truck is a superb model ....after you have installed NWSL bevel gears .My one has two split gears but as they are both on the rear truck ijust c racked them off and left the shaft ..I have still to install the upgrades .I too will be lusting for the KR shay .
  24. In the 50's a pukkah US army jeep was in use as its driver was courting the stunning blonde who live in our street.it had all the stars and seriels .Never saw the guy in uniform. but he only came down weekends so probably a serving Yank.Anyone modelling Hainault station in about 1971 could accurately include an SS plated Kubelwagen,on trade plates , as I drove it round for a few hours as you do .
