  1. I sold a 1/43 CAR kit of a Ferrari 375 MM for for about 180 quid .It was a hard to find kit and had the magic word BOSICA on the bottom meaning it was a kit by Vincent Bosica and a well regarded name .about a week later my wife said is this any interesting .Its a Ferrari kit .it was a similar kit and on sale for 20 USD in the states ..no proper description and crucially no Bosica for people to search for .I held off bidding until the last mili second but no one else bid on it .With low postage cost (then ) and no customs (then ) it was nice earner.
  2. Cut in down the middle and display at various sites .Have half racing the other half .The possibilties are endless.cant think why it hasnt been done before .
  3. I thought I would post a gratuitous night shot og my rake pulled by Boxhill .A fantastic little set and who would believe they would be mass produced .Its actually on my US layout but looks British enough under fish tank lights .So thanks Hornby and Rails.
  4. Mulling whether or not to make generic passenger strips of basic period people with out a lot of detail but sort of paint and modify for these carriages.Only a basic idea at present.
  5. Pendants and engynneery types please look away . I worked out in my head, so not a great recommendation ,that if I soldered a motor mount like a piece of brass channel to the HL gearbox at 90 degrees to I could silicone mount the motor and mesh it perfectly .I always silicone mount on US brass when remotoring , some times making a mounting saddle as well from black Milliput and then siliconing on the motor .its a sloppy but great way of getting perfect mesh and still removable by pulling it apart .I didnt use the idea as I didnt need to .
  6. I am a big fan of 1/1200 -1250 ships.I have a few but would love to get more but trains and guitars take all my money at present and as I am still working in my dotage I dont get any spare modelling time for ships .
  7. I dont buy catalogues though I like the old PFM brass mini books .I did love catalogues as a kid .Pawing through late at night and dreaming ,and I loved an old Rivarossi catalogue full of buildings as well as trains .I had Harley Davidson cats in the 60,s as well as as Gretsch ,Fender and Gibson guitar worship ones .Of course they are now worth a fortune .Sadly my Gran committed the cardinal sin you can do to any teenager and chucked them all out while I was on holiday ,ending my days of cataloque worship .
  8. I always ask would you put your own money in it .Great ideas to please a few hundred lost souls maybe .At least the narrow gauge 16.5 option is in line with 0n30 and you can run it all together.a mericans may well buy it too cos it looks sweet and fun .One thing I have leaned from far too many years in the business is only a few go around with slide rules and a society handbook .99 percent just buy what they like ,when they like and if it looks good and colourful so much the better .I too like TT scale but I wouldn't put my money on it .I would certainly ignore all the scale fanatics sermons on what scale is what and make sure you can stick it on track preferably already there and easy to buy in model shops .I guess Blackstone H0n3 is a good case .Magnificent models but not sure it made them any money which I assume derives mainly from Soundtraxx. If it was a money spinner they would make more ,thats how capitalism works .They didnt even make a Kato type switch/point for their snap track.
  9. 16.5 narrow gauge .I would start with a Quarry Hunslet . Perhaps I should add I that I dont model 16.5 or On30.It is that just I see it as a sellable product beyond this forum and others like it.
  10. I think printing will be the way to .Getting better all the time and cheap to set up if not to produce .Plastic kits cost tens of thousands.I have a Toma 009 shay thats printed .Pricey and a bit brittle especially for a working shay but it shows the potential .Already bodys afre appearing on eBay that and very good an probably a printed master was used .L:et the plastic kit boys play on their own .The world still needs more 1/35 Tigers.
  11. I'll wait until Rails of Sheffield bring out their own generic coaches.
  12. I think they will make some Midland clerestories all lined out to go with the two Midland super models like the 1P and NRM loco.
  13. About Rich Energy .In the nineties I knew several F1 team managers .One especially was a real pal since we talked for hours at Silverstone in a red light session and I didnt know he was a team boss as he looked like a truckie .It set me up well as he knew I wasn't crawling to be friends etc .He said there were/ are certain sponsors who are a good sign of a team desperate for sponsorship and anything stuck on their car .He said they are run by crooks who took all the passes and access but never paid a penny .Sure as night follows day they would pop up on rear wings etc and the team would go bust that season .No idea if Rich Energy are similar .
  14. Me too great postage cost and great decals .I use Microscale themselves for my MS orders .Postage is fairly high but of course decals are at standard US prices and havnt been laying around for decades ,I also use San Juan decals for Hon3 locos and SP locos .Its best to look at what you might need and order in advance .Of course you can put any unsold or unwanted on ebay and get your money back .
  15. These will sell like hot cakes as there are only about 30 people on planet bothered by innacuracies .Almost assured after all the codswallop on here .I seem to have read it all before .Maybe it was on the now loved Hattons thread.Hope some S&D come out before I kick off due no doubt virus mutations and postmen who havnt read about any distancing rules .
  16. I have a modest lump of Welsh steam coal that fell off Black Prince and almost knocked me out while trackside photographing on The North Norfolk Railway .Will this be a modern bitcoin ? Valuable beyond the dreams of man .I was keeping it for the apocalypse either to heat the house or throw at a zombie or the bloke next door .I have taken a fair sized chunk off already to break up as coal for my locos .
  17. I found its really hard to shovel it into the tender .Makes an awfull mess and drips all over the place ..
