  1. Here's a pic of mine..... Not quite as wonky as yours. ( Can't think of a way of putting it, without it sounding like a game of innuendo bingo !! 🤣 ) For anyone who hasn't seen one up close, the pale bits between the body and the fuel tanks are actually the wall behind the model, the tanks aren't just one big lump hanging from the chassis. In my opinion, it's a lovely looking model. Cheers, Phil.
  2. Definitely in it’s current condition, I’ve just checked the model in the back of my car to make sure….😀 Cheers, Phil.
  3. Definitely a ‘when the real thing looks like a model’ pic ! Nice use of static grass at the front, but the yard lamp has got wrong colour LED’s fitted, and that backscene lacks effort….. Cheers, Phil.
  4. What is the above detail referring to please, if it’s not the handrail on the corner ? Cheers, Phil.
  5. Railtec transfers used to renumber a Hornby class 91. I only use this method for small transfers like numbersets, don’t think I’m brave enough to try it with anything larger ! Old number scraped off with a cocktail stick ( or thumbnail !). Transfer soaked in Klear, not water. A brush is used to add a very small amount of Klear to the model where the transfer is to be applied. Transfer slid onto wet patch on model. Cocktail stick used to adjust position of transfer. A cotton bud damp with water is rolled ( not dragged ) over transfer to remove excess liquid. Allowed to dry fully, usually overnight, then a light airbrush coat of varnish over the top, in this case it was Humbrol enamel satin varnish, but I also use Humbrol enamel Matt varnish, depending on the finish I require. As John says, you’ve got to be quick, but adding more Klear with a brush does allow more time for adjustments if necessary. The speed is more essential for removing excess Klear from the model before it dries. Best method I’ve found for eliminating the sight of carrier film, not that there’s much of it around the numbers anyway ! This is the only time I use Klear, it seems to cause me more problems than it solves otherwise. Cheers, Phil.
  6. Had a little play with a LNER livery model.... If anyone is interested in the work carried out, there's more details on my thread. Cheers, Phil.
  7. I was watching the progress of the NR HST too !! Yes it is ! If you're driving up from Hemingfield, towards Jump, just after crossing over the railway bridge there's a Public Footpath sign pointing Left. Park on the main road, and walk down the path to another railway bridge. The pic is taken there, looking towards Elsecar. View looking towards Wombwell, from same bridge- Same Footpath, before getting to bridge, Elsecar station is just beyond the 'S' bend- The Footpath carries on through a field, giving decent views- Cheers, Phil.
  8. 43184 trails 43321, on todays 1V60 Edinburgh - Plymouth, diverted via Barnsley. Cheers, Phil.
  9. Tonbridge, 31.8.22 Looks like they missed a bit..... Cheers, Phil.
  10. "nope, wrong class, guess again......" "nope, it ain't one of those either......" Cheers, Phil.
  11. The Ecofret model on show at the Rails open day last Saturday, looked outstanding !! Cheers, Phil.
  12. Seems like an age since I spent any time at the workbench..... But 1 loco has recently had a visit, that being LNER livery 91118 'The Fusiliers'. Didn't take any pics before I started, but I guess most people know what it looks like !! A combination of factors ( @Jack Mc wanting that livery but not necessarily that loco, everyone will have that one, the Hornby metal nameplates being absolute tosh !!) led us to decide an identity change was in order.... Turns out, Brian does the plates for one of the options Jack wanted, so a set was ordered. Steve at Railtec produced a bespoke set of numbers, which arrived less than 2 days after ordering ( how does he do that !! ) First job, remove the printed nameplates and numbers from the model, which threw up an issue, the White 'swoosh' seems to be printed around the plate but not under it.... Or I'm just ham-fisted at removing it ! No bother though, as the swoosh looked a bit Pink to me, so I thought I'd better paint over it anyway.... Masking up. Gloss White sprayed on, hopefully keeping the fade at each end of the swoosh. Cruel close-ups after masking removed. New numbers applied and Satin varnished, plus nameplates applied. The pantograph well, was treated to some Grey wash. Cab roof area's also had some applied, to hopefully replicate the streaking seen on the prototype. I removed the bogie sideframes and painted the rear section of the Blue shock absorbers Black, to attempt to disguise the fact they aren't round as per the prototype. Then airbrush weathered them while they were off. Studying pics suggests that the cleaning plant that's used on the real thing, has brushes that reach up just above the Orange cantrail stripe, and as far down as the first row of slots on the sides of the chassis. The pantograph well just appears to be a dirty, patchy mess ! So that's what I've attempted to copy.... One weird little quirk of looking at prototype pics, I've never noticed before that the airpipes on the loco's have the valve handle to the 'outside' of the pipe, whereas the DVT's have the handle to the 'inside' of the pipe. I better remember that when I detail the rake of stock !! Cheers, Phil.
  13. The DVT has by far the brightest lights of any item in my collection, and that's on DC !! Have to say though, a full rake (minus the buffet, that hasn't arrived yet) looks impressive on the move. Not a blemish in the paint, or a glue mark around the windows, on any of them.....😃 Cheers, Phil.
  14. Same service as pictured above... 2Q08 Derby R.T.C - Doncaster West Yard, via quite a bit of South Yorkshire.... Cheers, Phil.
  15. 950001 heads into the mist at Swinton ( South Yorkshire ), about 20 minutes ago. Cheers, Phil.
  16. Half an hour at Toton last Thursday, produced a variety of liveries.... Incidentally, the car train that arrived was composed of 9x twin & 7x quad wagon sets, carrying 283 cars !! Cheers, Phil.
  17. I'm sure it's been a 'S' code for at least the last couple of years. But it's been 5 tanks and a jetting unit, no sandite modules. Cheers, Phil.
  18. I thought the same, but there's no Sandite modules in the rake !! Cheers, Phil.
  19. Todays 3S14 Grimsby Town - York Thrall Europa I've also started a topic for RHTT 2022, and added these in there. Cheers, Phil.
  20. Was caught a bit by surprise to see this running today !! 3S14 Grimsby Town - York Thrall Europa, seen at Elsecar, between Barnsley and Sheffield. Cheers, Phil.
  21. Todays 0Z63, Halifax to Doncaster C.H.S. Seen at Elsecar. Cheers, Phil.
  22. Toton, today. Think I might post this in the 'when the real thing looks like a model' thread too..... Cheers, Phil.
  23. There was certainly a few there !!! Especially when this rake trundled down past the signal box too.... Cheers, Phil.
