    Why is it that everything I buy is discounted or flash sale'd within weeks - even when I've held on - the recent Dapol 73 price war being a classic - do I trigger this stuff ?? 🙄

    I was talked out of becoming a Driver at 17 by a friend's Dad and I went into the BR Engineering side instead. Regretted it ever since.

    No, I think he's always done that 🤣 On an unusual note - my local High street in Crewkerne now has a NEW (general) model shop !!!!!!!!! 🤞🙏 it's a success

    I really wouldn't get too hung up on this issue - the "Return to" markings would still be on the wagons long after the particular traffic finished and from observation remained on wagons into internal user use / the end of their lives. i.e Internal user @ Boston Dock

    Even allowing for the vagaries of AGFA - it's a darker blue - might have been the only one like it but it's darker

    R4973 & R4973A blue too dark ? Not after seeing this - that's as inky as it gets - it's not the exposure either - compare the blue of the vehicles beyond the bridge - they're more Bachmann blue.

    Now looking at that - it puts the comments about the Hornby RB & RBR blue being too dark into perspective.

    I had 20 of these on order from Hattons pretty much from the day they were announced at the grand price of £10.61 each 🤣 Shame they never appeared - was planning to build a small model of Exeter City Basin with passing mainline using these as the basis.

    Haven't seen it mentioned but a fundamental piece of info which will be helpful is that a single set will be approx. 870mm long in 00. In real money that's a shade under 67m over buffers

    Disconnected the feed wires to the motor only and released the gearing so the wheel can run free - I'm a DC dinosaur so all that decoder stuff wasn't an issue for me

    I just got it cos it looked nice ................ 😉 £62 quid in Basingstoke MZ - those were the days ................. Might try scribing the door lines and adding some plasticard hinges - modelling ! as for the underframe - looks pretty unvalenced in this 1970 view at St Pancras
