Here's a very old D&S 7mm catalogue. Danny appears at exhibitions from time to time - not much help to you, I know, but he was at Guildex last September so still producing 7mm kits. Dave D and S 2009 Catalogue - part.pdf

LCUT Creative 'O' Gauge laser cut building kits - ebay
daifly replied to Annie's topic in 7mm+ modelling
Annie I have a couple - as yet unbuilt. They are laser cut from a sturdy card - mount board (used in picture framing) perhaps. They have their own website: http://www.lcut.co.uk/index.php?page=pages/main&title=Main They also sell parts from their kits - doors, windows, awnings etc. - which is very useful if you want to create buildings of your own. I was interested in the way the backdrop and lighting was achieved on Arun Quay. Here's a low viewpoint photo showing how simple the Gravetts make it! There are three rows of closely-spaced white LEDs on a batten towards the rear. At the front, there are two rows of white and one of warm white. The simple but effective backdrop is bulldog-clipped to the frame. Dave

Mr Grumpy’s Workbench: MOK 9F occasional updates
daifly replied to Mr Grumpy's topic in Kitbuilding & Scratchbuilding
Having now looked at dozens of milk wagons, this seems to be very much the exception rather than the rule. I couldn’t find another contemporary milk tank wagon photo without some form of screw fastener on the ends of the rods. Dave -

You might want to look at The Swansea Vale Railway by John Miles et al, pub Lightmoor Press Dave -

Sister Swansea loco 47481 at Swansea Victoria on 19May58 with what I assume is Pull-Push gear still fitted. Cropped from larger copyright photos. Dave -

A crop from a poor colour shot of 47479 at Swansea Paxton St in Jul 1959. It has the gubbins on the LH side of the smokebox like most of the Swansea 3Fs. -
Flat-pitched industrial roofs are a fairly modern creation by and large and would probably post-date any rail connection. The low back scene height is very limiting in 7mm. Yours looks about 6-7” which is only about 25’ high - barely enough for a two storey building even without a roof! It will need a careful design to be convincing. How about avoiding the ‘end-profiles’ and show the building sides instead? Dave

I suspect that Major Nissen R.E. would turn in his grave to learn that his invention had become attributed to a Japanese car maker! Dave

A closer inspection of my photos shows that I shouldn't do this when tired! Compare the profile below and to LHS of smokebox at Westbury 1962 here: with this earlier one on Hatton Bank in the 50s (judging by the logo) That's the same profile of toolbox showing in the earlier photo and it is on the LHS as you said! Dave

A couple of examples. Based on photo evidence from my collection, only about 10-15% of the 56xxs had them in the 50s & 60s (about 100 56xx photos) A similar proportion of the 66xxs too - a further 100+ photos examined Dave
-
The two photos in my collection of 6625 in the 50s and 60s both show the LHS (edit!) RHS and neither shows a toolbox. I'll look at the rest of my photos and see what I find! Dave

Well done Chaz and team! I just wish I could make it but work has made a prior call! Hope everyone has a great show. Dave

Paul There are a few build photos here that may be of interest and a few more here too. Dave

Paul Front and rear look OK to me but the centre weight extends over five spokes - 4 spaces. That's one more than you appear to have. Dave
-
Presumably where a gloved hand has used the handrail and disturbed the accumulated crud. There is similar evidence on the other locos in the vicinity of the tank filler as might be expected.

Paul Do you have a specific 74xx in mind? I do have a number of photos of the class and many showing details that you may find useful. I’m not going to email 200+ photos but am happy to help with specific queries. Dave
