    Got as far as Bridgnorth for our llong weekend in Ludlow and car dropped clutch. Six hours later we're back home. @rse!

      Sorry to hear that, mine went when on holiday in the peak diistrict last year? Did you make the most of it by dropping into the SVR while you were there. Shiny new BofB being run in, might have cheered you up. N

    was teaching Excel to first years today - developed a matrix and asked them to calculate some intermediate values - they got their calculators out. I give up!

      I took A level maths 12 years ago. We were encouraged to use calculators.

      IT apps are glorified typewriters to most schools, used for producing output neatly rather then doing real work with them.
