  3. Thanks for pointing out the error in the loco number. It's probably an image where I've tried to read the number from the slide as I don't have any notes made on the day for that set of slides. For now I'll just remove the number from the caption. David
  4. I have a few of Dad's at Saarbrucken in 1967, apart from that they are mainly 1990 onwards. Even in the 90s some stock was in Era 3 colours. There are a few with German stock elsewhere in 1978 and 1988/9 There are also a few of my black and white photos at Saarbrucken in 1967 somewhere in this thread: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/77924-dave-fs-own-black-and-white-photos-1960s-completed-30th-december/ Sorry but I can't remember where they are in the thread! I do have several thousand colour scans of mine and Dad's slides taken in Europe, so it could be a long thread! Some in 1967, some in 1978, then 1988 to around 1997, the majority are Swiss, but there are quite a lot in Germany and other places. David
  5. Chur on the Rhätische Bahn in Switzerland today. The photos are of the line from Chur to Arosa, which starts in the station forecourt and runs along the road until it leaves Chur. At this time the line was still electrified at 2400V DC, it has since been converted to 11kV AC so normal RhB locos can be used. 7. I think so, or it may have been the line to Richborough Port from the East Kent. I haven't been back to the area since 1980 and cannot now remember exactly where I took the photo. David
  8. It might be, but in some other photos I have (not yet sorted out to put on here) it looks quite narrow, I think not more than 10.5". It had gone before December 1975 as it is not on photos Dad took then, I can't fin any reference to it in either his or my notes on the photos we took - most annoying!! Edit I've not been able to find anything on the web about it, there are a very small number of photos on flickr apparently taken in 1974/5 which show the track but like mine there is nothing on it. David
  9. I think it was a small passenger carrying line 5" gauge? I never saw anything working on it. David

  12. Some from the early days of the preserved Great Central at Loughborough and Quorn. For some reason the weather always seemed to be dull when I went there - perhaps because I used to fit it in while visiting relatives who lived there. It looks very different now. 16. A look at some trains near Pirbright Junction on the Southern for this evening's photos. They were all taken by Dad in 1971, probably on a visit to friends who lived in the area. 17. An Austrian Miscellany today. It's quite simple, I used to use two film cameras, a Minolta SLR and an Olympus compact so it depends on when the films came back from the processors. Edited as I seem unable to spell Austrian place names today. David
  18. A few photos taken in Leeds at various times for this evening. Sometimes when visiting somewhere you simply have to put up with dreadful light and try to come home with some sort of photo. This was much harder in film days when you couldn't see the results until the film was processed. Some of these photos were taken on days like that. Leeds Central LMS 4MT 43130 ecs Nov 66 J697 The next three photos were taken on a trip from Manchester to York, to see the (old) railway museum on a bitterly cold, icy and foggy day in November 1971. For some reason I had to change trains in Leeds and so tried to take a few photos. 24. On the original scan it is clearly in the refurbished livery, also my notes made on the day say refurbished livery. I thought I had a photo of the one in the SYPTE livery, but not according to my notes . I know I saw it but for some reason didn't photograph it. David
