  1. There are virtually no Traffic Police now in the UK. Get used to it. As a result of that there is little chance of being caught doing anything wrong at all and hence why we have all noticed the decline in driving standards.
  2. Oh I know only too well about Brereton Avenue as one of the bus routes goes down there. Threading a bus through at school time was 'interesting'!
  3. Have you been to Cleethorpes? They did have a pedestrian crossing just before a really busy mini roundabout next to the pier and one just after it and a bus stop! Summer season they wonder why traffic is backed up into Grimsby!
  4. Sadly there are always some who believe their abilities are sufficient to multi task. Invariably they aren't.
  5. I would say NCE Powercab as well as you can use it in shunting mode and it is very controllable at very slow speed.
  6. Had two of them. Both the 2.8 and the 2.9. Very capable motors but a poor relation to the Cosworth which I couldn't afford. Not many Sierras have survived which tells you something about the quality control I guess. I thought mine was a rocket until I changed cars on a short journey with my mates Daihatsu Charade GTTi turbo which would have shamed many a supercar.
  7. Yes but cheaper from the shop but of course you have to add postage.
  8. Rails had the Provincial livery the other day for £99.99. I know because I bought one.
  9. So it appears to be still registered as a 69 Morris 998 so it is a re shell as opposed to a later car with a number swap. Still not a Cooper S though. It has also not had the change of colour notified to DVLA, For those who have not seen the show there is a preview here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqxJDr0OYRA&feature=youtu.be
  10. They say it has been rebodied in the show but they don't actually say when the car was registered. They commented a couple of times about how they had only managed to get up to 40 mph so I hardly think it was a Cooper S! I feel sure it had twin fillers but I suspect it was a standard Mini badged up as you say and certainly not the genuine thing. If you look up Huddersfield Mini Spares on Facebook they mention the show but nothing else and the car isn't shown as for sale on their website. Be interesting to check the reg number and see what it comes up with.
  11. By the same token the Police use an unmarked tractor unit to catch lorry drivers on the phone, laptop or reading a book. It is not only car drivers. You never see us motorcyclists doing it.
  12. Ah that explains a lot then. I knew Ed had left and the Production Company had changed but I didn't realise that it would be filmed across the pond. Also the dollars bit got on my nerves as well. I like Car SOS and they have done some great cars but the formula is getting tired and predictable which is a pity. Still that is TV for you I guess. As regards Tim Wonacott mentioned elsewhere he 'left' Antiques Roadshow because no one would work with him and there were several complaints. Lastly 'pleasing to the eye huh'? Well I never noticed.
  13. Thing is are you saying that from a legal view point that you know as a certainty or are you saying what you believe should be? It makes a huge difference. In my opinion and I will state it is that and not knowledge I 'believe' that once sold on the debt belongs to the Company who bought it and as such unless the Utility Company contact them and tell them that it is a mistake and to cancel they will just carry on chasing the debt even though it does not exist. Knowing how we do how much incompetence there is in these issues these days the likelihood of one company that cannot sort out the matter immediately on the phone actually ringing another company and saying we have made a mistake is slim at best. My advice from the outset in this thread still stands. I would have contacted the debt company to tell them the bare facts, inform them that it was being dealt with by the Utility Company and advise them not to contact him further until they had heard from the Utility Company. I would then be seeking assurance from the Utility company that while they were trying to sort it out that they would indeed contact the Debt company and inform them. I would also be seeking confirmation of that in writing within 5 working days.
  14. No not with you on that one Allan because if they irritate me I don't watch them. Only exceptions being Messrs Pritchard and Brewer because I filter them out and look at the pictures.
  15. I know some places where they have replaced traffic lights with a roundabout. Complete reversal of policy and it seems to work with far less congestion.
  16. Any thoughts on what to fit to the trailing car for the lights? Function only decoder or just a cheap and cheerful decoder just for the lights? I had in the past some old ones taken out of locos that would not run but they have long since gone when I threw my toys out with the hobby. What are these 6 pin decoders like?
  17. May have missed it but no one seems to have mentioned watching the new series of Wheeler Dealers with Ant of the Salvage Hunters Classic cars. I have watched both and am disappointed that Wheeler Dealers is set in America as I have no interest at all in American cars and would have preferred to see them source and sell cars here but that is just me. Salvage Hunters is good because they are doing two cars at once even if you see little of the work go into them. Only problem is that Drew is somehow even more irritating in this show than his own. Oh and the new show Goblin Works Garage although for you Land Rover lovers out there I would say avoid the latest episode.!
  18. The bumf does state that the speaker may need to be changed for other makes and for older Hornby models. These speakers are designed to fit the latest models.
  19. Thanks and just read that. Again not exactly current information though is it? I see a number of retailers are selling them now so are we to take it that they are selling counterfeits or are they pirated designs now built by themselves?
  20. Thanks for that once more Ron. Do you see my point though about the information is now out of date? Even with my own experience of fitting decoders in my own and other peoples stock I am unable to rely on it as it is at least five years out of date. What was good then may well not be now as it will have been replaced, updated or even surpassed by others. So in respect of Zimo and Lenz that I have used in the past my knowledge is outdated. When I started looking today for recommendations I found that the threads were all ancient and as such not reliable information. What is the 'go to' decoder for reliable and smooth running without breaking the bank? By the looks of it the ball park figure seems to be 20 quid for a decent make with cheaper options available for the Bachmann/Hornby/Hattons offerings. I am quite happy to go with whichever is going to be fit and forget and if that is the more expensive option then so be it. Bearing in mind I am still talking about non sound here because if we start talking about 60 quid plus for a decoder them I may as well go the full hog and have sound or wait until Horny bring out a TTS for the DMU versions.
  21. Yes Ron that is the one I was talking about. I read your input in another thread about it and that is why it is included. I realise I could have posted links to all of the threads I have read during my lengthy but fruitless research this morning but thought it better just to get to the chase. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/68254-Bachmann-36-557-21-pin-decoder/page-2&do=findComment&comment=2931255 OK I know that your post is only two months old but nevertheless your queries in that thread do not appear to have been addressed which to me leaves some doubt over the purchase of the 36-557 in it's latest guise. So when you talk about "if anything the new one is better" that is reassuring but then when I look at the video from Everard Junction he shows that the new version will not stop with the Emergency stop button but just coasts to a halt with the normal deceleration settings.
  22. Done thanks Ron. While I am here I would just like to thank John for the video but I have said Non sound just to clarify.
  23. I have in the past used the Zimo decoders and had sort of made my mind up to go that way or the Lenz but was intrigued by the new name (to me) on the block LaisDCC and wondered if anyone has any experience with them. My mistake earlier Ian. I should have said DCC Concepts. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/128193-dcc-concepts-z18-new-version-6-function-decoders/
