  1. Do you have a prescription or is it self medication?
  2. I wasn't aware of Sepsis or how bad it is until we stayed at a B & B in Uppingham last year after visiting the Peterborpugh BRM show. Nice couple who ran it and the bloke Bill Clark wrote and directed a film about a true story involving someone who had sepsis. I spoke to him about it and was an amazing story. That film is now seen by quite a lot of NHS staff to raise awareness. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfish_(film) Fingers crossed for you both.
  3. Tony very sorry to hear of the health issues with SWMBO. Good luck with that and hope you manage to sort the rest out at a some point.
  4. Do you know of many people who stick to 30? Went through a village today that has a 30 for almost a mile. I am at 30 and the car behind catches me at a rate of knots as usual Often it is the same car I overtook a mile back in the NSL because it was doing 45mph!
  5. Tachographs are more accurate than car speedometers if they are maintained properly and calibrated. GPS isn't that accurate as it will not show the exact speed as of that second, rather it shows an average. It does lag at times so isn't as accurate as some would have you believe.
  6. I would disagree with that in as much that lately quite a lot of people (me included) have said how good they are. I accept that there have been issues but it is plain to see that Hornby have been sorting these and the latest decoders seem to be less troublesome. OK there is a view that Hornby are using us the customer as Guinea Pigs and letting us test the items for them to iron out any issues and whilst that is possible they are also letting us purchase them at about a third of the price of one of the main players in the market. So whilst in the first instance some of them were not that complimentary the ones I have been reading of late are far more so,
  7. Err as if that is unique to Windows Forums Keith!
  8. For me it is quite simple. If you have 'a' question then it goes in the questions area. If you want to discuss something then it goes in the discussions area. That is as simple as it can get. Sadly some in the past have either been unable to understand that or just too lazy to care where it is as long as someone gives them an answer. Hence the result is that stuff has been dumped anywhere and now there is this confusion. When I recently returned to the hobby I was looking in the DCC section for information and it quickly became obvious that I needed to look in all of the sub sections as some questions were posted in the wrong one. Luckily search engines don't give a monkeys where it is posted so if you ask 'What decoder can I fit to my Bachmann 08' it will look for it everywhere. As Ron rightly said it was a mess so the different areas were created. At that time the traffic on here was far less so it was easier to Police but sadly that is no longer the case and it has returned to some extent to being a mess. I don't actually think there is a solution so merging them whilst possible wouldn't really help as it would just increase the amount of threads to wade through. If it is left as is then new members are encouraged to post in the correct place (notwithstanding the confusion) it will work. It, as ever requires the help of others to notify when something is in the wrong place.
  9. I don't think you are causing any issues and you are just bringing ups a very valid point that many of us will have thought of but not raised. Thing is over the years as the forum has grown it is ever more difficult for an Admin team to keep an eye on everything. Anyway I like shopping in your supermarkets so you are one of the good Guys.
  10. It is strange how times have changed. When I started driving in 1970 I bought a Ford Anglia Estate and my parents used it before I passed my test. It was a 1964 car so just 6 years old and bought for peanuts really as a banger. I doubt that many now could afford to buy a 6 year old car when they start to drive yet within four years the Government would be giving you money to scrap that car.
  11. Having bought from Rails twice recently and having been impressed with both the service and the price I must say that I am highly likely to have a visit at some point on my travels.
  12. It 'should' be easy but as you say some of the threads are in the wrong place. Thing is the Admin if not told about something being in the wrong place may not notice at all when there are so many posts every day. If it isn't about sound or fitting any you are asking a question then it should go in questions. If you just want to discuss something and OK most discussions have a question or two in them it should go in discussion. One of the biggest issues is that this place is a resource seen by millions via search engines on top of the members. So with that in mind it is best to think how would this thread be found if someone were to search in the future? That is why just putting 'Help wanted' as a title of a new thread is pointless. So in answer to your question. If someone is asking a particular question about something then it really should be in questions. That way if you ask for example a question about a Zimo decoder anyone else wanting to know something about a Zimo decoder will with a search have your question included in the results in future. It is simple housekeeping. Yes many of the questions are now in the wrong area but a search engine should still find them and yes I agree the two areas could well be merged now if the Admin were of a mind. Bear in mind also that unless this thread is brought to the attention of Andy or the Admin they may never see it so you could either report your own thread or email the Admin team.
  13. So why do you think we need aggression in here? You have made it very clear your opinions and of course you are entitled to them I just don't see the need for you to constantly come into these threads to let us know them. Yes it is a discussion but constantly 'telling' people that Linux is better than Windows or whatever is not a discussion. If this was a discussion about a problem with a Ford car would there be any point in someone coming in constantly and saying you should have bought a Vauxhall? (other makes are available). Baffled!
  14. I think those of us on here are quite capable of understanding there is a choice without having it rammed down our throats at every opportunity.
  15. For the life of me I cannot understand why those that Pray at the Altar of Linux or Apple have to keep visiting any thread where Windows is mentioned. To me it is the internet version of people coming to your house and knocking on your door to talk about religion! I have no interest in Macs or Linux and as a result of that I do not visit any thread where they are mentioned. I think some just like to start an argument.
  16. If you look here you will see Andy has covered stacking in a tutorial. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/84168-whats-involved-with-processing-an-image-for-the-magazine/
  17. Ah well if it is the Welsh you are talking about!
  18. Oh that is what I thought and I was 'corrected'! http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/120176-channel-4-model-railway-challenge/page-32?p=3014758&do=findComment&comment=3014758
  19. Police forces The Police do not get any money from speed camera fines. They get money from Speed Reduction Courses. The money from cameras goes to Central Government and is not passed down to forces who have to go cap in hand to Council Tax payers each year to get sufficient money to work. Police numbers have dropped by very large numbers year on year and believe me as a Retired Officer there is no one more disgusted than me.
  20. I would be gobsmacked if many of you actually realise how few Police Officers there are out there. For those who choose to break the law on the road or wherever that will be good news BUT for the rest of us it will be a nightmare. The old nick that I worked put out half a dozen or ore officers every shift and the nick was open 24/7. Now the nick is closed and they put out a couple if you are lucky. Try a FOI request to your local force and ask how many are out there. At times you may see how can these officers have so much paperwork to keep them off the streets if they are never out. I would not do their job for a gold pig a day!
  21. Yes when you think the old rules for Classic car tax being free was 25 years wasn't it? Lot of stuff would come under that now. 40 years now but I would still have something from then in a shot as well but I agree Pete where has that time gone? EDIT: Don't get one Pete you need your money for that bike don't forget.
  22. I have always liked the look of them as well. I had a VR6 Golf and that was stupidly quick to drive. I had a Scirocco for a while but never a Corrado. Maybe time to change that as I do have a fondness for Golfs having had about 7 or 8 of them over the years.
  23. That isn't working for me. Just takes me to the basic page and no picture of said Landy. You have to join the group to see pictures.
  24. You are not wrong but I would just say that the idiots of this world who choose to use the roads as a race track and put innocents at risk would have less chance to do that if we relied on good old fashioned Policing with the numbers of staff to do the job instead of relying on cameras that do not see this sort of thing. Speed is not the be all and end all that some make out. As an Ex Police Officer, (one of many) that used to check cars for defects like tyres, brakes and lights and used to ensure that the people driving them were entitled to and covered by Insurance it is my firm belief that the roads were safer then. Speed cameras do none of that and with the cloning of registration numbers these days they very often are not even seeing the correct vehicle.
