Supplied painted and fitted to a generic pantograph. The generic pantographs, although HO scale are very similar in size to the Hornby version. They look quite at home on top of the OO gauge APT’s and are nicely sprung so that they can run realistically in contact with overhead wires or be clipped in the down position if preferred. Comes complete with new Hornby black support frames, ready to screw to the power bogie. Just will need 4 drops of cyano adhesive to fix the pan base to the supports. See photo 3 for how to remove your existing pan from the power car. An upgrade to the functionality of your 2020's APT as the standard Hornby pans are very difficult to raise, or pose and can get easily broken. It's going to need China to move out of lockdown and start producing again for the chip manufacturing to supply the components needed the build a decoder without the PCB aerial section. There are bluetooth chips that do not need a separate aerial I believe. This will also help everyone's pensions too .......

Are these locos not on @Jenny Emily's list of locos tested with the Next18 decoder?

The revised sets have 21 pin sockets for DCC decoders and it has already been stated in this topic that the NDMs have a sugar cube speaker prefitted. I've not had confirmation of this though. Personally I've just bought a 7 car 2020 release set from TMC and would have no problems in fitting my own decoders and speaker if Hornby release a sound profile for the HM7000 decoders and will relocate or replace the capacitors in the cars where they are visible myself.

I got my 7 car set yesterday from TMC, boy are the colours weird (compared to the 1980's version) 😄 I suppose first job is to take the powered NDM apart to snip off the motor capacitor.... I want to get it apart to substitute the pan for one of my generic ones to get better photos in any case

Summat Colliery has run on DCC with many BK magnets under the track since 2009, never a problem with the loco decoders, sound or non sound.

Agree with this, a once spectacular track castrated by Tilke in 1995. When racing was being considered in 2005 parts of the old track were supposed to be reinstated, but this never happened. It's really not right IMHO that we have a 1 minute lap in this day and age. RB have the money in buckets to redevelop their track, but as it suits their cars then there is little chance apart from some FIA tinkering with gravel traps etc.

So I am planning on rewiring my old 8 pin Bachmann chassis that powers my Dapol DELTIC with either a next 18 or 21 pin socket. I have a spare 21 pin and next 18 txs decoder. What option should I go for, would it be better holding on to the next 18 for future models?

A TXS sound profile for it?
