  1. Thanks John. Work is proceeding slowly. We're taking apart each section and piers are being fitted with the 'fancy' resin brickwork cast for us by Mark of the 'Eridge' team also 'grouting' and weathering is being experimented with. Some of the brick plasticard needs replacing as it was fitted in a rush for S4um last year and it's easier to do all this with it apart.
  2. Gordon. Utterly brilliant! Thank you so much. These snaps are exactly what I've been looking for.

Guaranteed to get up my nose is this daft "happy bidding" people insist on putting at the end of their listings!
  4. Good luck with it all Ron. Your 'thing to do' list looks pretty long!

Ah, Jidenco, the well known 'aid to scratchbuilding' type of kit!. I have a couple that I've tried to build. There are many parts that don't quite line up for soldering. Perhaps I might consider putting them up on Ebay if they are fetching that sort of money!
  6. Oh yes...I recall the tale of someone who did just that, by driving one of these heavy locos (with Dynadrive) onto some unpowered siding years ago and did a fine demolition job!
  7. I can neither confirm nor deny that it may or may not be the former or the latter so as CK is watching you lot, you'd all better be minding your Ps & Qs!
  8. .....if you can find them! I was successful in getting hold of one of these for a future Om scale Furka Oberalp layout. It took a long time to find!
  9. .A snap of my P4 Lima Cl 60 chassis with a rather large motor which came from the guidance system on one of ill-fated and scrapped 'Blue Streak' intercontinental nuclear missiles! Problem with it is that it tends to fall off the DRAG test track at speed because of the centrifugal force. Flywheel needs making lighter!
  10. Brian is quite right in that it's no longer available. The address in North Carolina is now another business. I did discover a few years ago that NorthWest Shortline had had some involvement, but as Brian says it does that seems to have come to nothing. In my view (FWIW!) the Model Torque clutch works very well in comparison. The clutches used to be, and still may be, available in pairs without the motor from Peter Tisdale at Inter City Models http://www.intercity...odeltorque.html I think that this is the part number for the pair of clutches. SMAT An-01 Motored version
  11. Here's a snap of the drive on Brian's P87 Dutch class 08 type that sometimes appears on Quai 87. It uses an Australian ModelTorque drive unit which uses a magnetic clutch with a large flywheel added. These drive units are available here from Intercity Models in Cornwall. It is great fun to drive with 'super creep' starting and good 'overrun'

I never bid on items that have stupid and rude 'conditions'. Just when will these prats learn?
  13. Saw the finish in Dartmouth of stage seven of the Tour of Britain. Missed Wiggo but saw Cav who seemed that he wasn't having a good time!

We were 1/2 way up Coffin Stone KoM - huge crowds, another big Devon turnout to support a sport tour. All shouting for "local" Jonathan Tiernan-Locke!

Wiggo was off sick, apparently: a 'stomach upset' was cited in his press release. Lotsa disappointed side-burn fans, do doubt!

It isn't even in a collectable condition.

"THESE ARE IN UN USED CONDITION THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY LAYOUT OR BE A GREAT ADDITION TO A COLLECTION" ................ A collection of what......used plastic sprues?
  16. You could of course make it a 'mechanical' tree being felled by some Flemish lumberjacks in checked shirts with a suitably designed mechanism 'Faller style' as is encouraged on layouts on the continent!

Well we all know that he's a 'toy/collectables' dealer. I still wonder why most of his stuff isn't put to auction instead of BIN. More likely to shift more stuff at auction.

  19. Just seen a 'double' Vom1ter. What with 'Plattling' this is another fine timewaster.

I feel that they're somewhat overrated. I bought one new, at great expense, when they were available for a 7mm loco kit but it's disappointingly quite noisy. It might 'improve with running in'. It's a 'late' model which aren't as good as the 'earlier' versions. I wouldn't want to risk buying on Ebay for that reason.

  24. Re6/6 has just got back after too much fizzy pop from the Red Arrows display at the 190th Dartmouth Royal Regatta. The real highlight this year was the display from the RAF Historic Flight's Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire. Wow the sounds of those Merlin engines. Great to see a 20 minute spectacle all done to the 'Dambusters music' Stirring stuff. Some poor cameraphone snaps in wheeltappers.

Lubricated fireworks again tonight, from ashore this time!

Glad that you'll be coming next year. I'm sure that you'll enjoy yourself. There's just so much to do and see.
