When will these people realise that 'shouting' is counter productive. I gave me a headache trying to read it.

Overpriced is the right word. I recently sold mine for £140, a realistic price as research showed values circa £150 at auction and 'proper' dealers.

He's sold other D&S horseboxes in that price range. I've still got an old Hornby Dublo horsebox somewhere which I seem to hanging on to as a keepsake!

Correct. I've just compared it with my Bach one and the motion bears no resemblance whatsoever to the proper one. Surprising, because he is a 'dealer' and I would have thought that he would know better. It can't obviously be a Bachmann, just look at the tender drawbar. Interesting that nobody has put in a bid. I agree though, that it's quite nicely done.

I would at least expect it to be motorised for that money. Mind you it is from one of our regular nut-job dealers! I think that I'll pass on this one. Best wait for the Heljan version.

Want to see one that never that's never given up on!.. Our friend from Cartmel has had this load of c**p up for sale at this ludicrous price for over six years now! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GAIETY-MODELS-GWR-0-6-0-PT-PANNIER-BODY-RARE-VN-MIB-/300604249489?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item45fd68d591 I sold one for £1.50 a while ago. His listing fees for it must be quite considerable now.
  7. 'Project W' coming on apace. For CK's info it's not actually Ferrocarriles Argentinos. As I said it is still east of the Andes mind you!

So, it's a scale model of the Falkland Islands Great Northern and Central Junction Railway, is it, with one of their characteristic 2-2-0s?.... ;-))

The FOs are common as muck! It's the SOs & BSOs that might command a premium of sorts!

P Pricewise we would expect nothing less. Another gem from our friend in Cartmel, who seemingly can't be bothered to put up pictures when he lists. It's a poor show that they aren't there. No doubt he'll put some up later.

Bonkers. This kit sold for £85.50 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290676847102?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 It can be bought currently from CSP for £46.25. (according to their website) It defies logic. Perhaps I should get all those brass etched coach kits from the bottom drawer and put them up!
  11. Reported in this fortnight's 'Rail' magazine. According to them, Colas have bought 56087/094, 56105/113 which are stored at Crewe Diesel Depot.
  12. Rod tells me that it's an E1R!
  13. On the inside there's a Bach Johnson 3F , in the middle an SR train (can't remember what it was!) and just the King this time.

They can be a strange lot, judging by some of the questions that I got asked. One chap seemed more interested in the condition of the box of one Wrenn engine! Remember the classic James May programme when a 'collector' that he visited wouldn't let him take a loco out of its packaging, let alone play with it!
  15. Re6/6

    EBay madness

Indeed. I recently disposed of a collection of Wrenn for a friend and the right box made all the difference (£30 and much more in some cases) over unboxed items. Remember, Wrenn is part of the 'collectors' world.

All absolutely frustrating, it's as you say there is no way to contact them to complain or otherwise other than using those damned tick boxes. It would seem to me that they're happy to let this sort of thing happen as they must know that people need to contact them to complain about obvious transgressions but it would be too much bother for them, or am I too cynical? It would be very useful if anybody knows how this can be overcome.

I don't see what is going on here. Is the seller getting that bidder to bid at the high price in the hope that someone will outbid? All very odd.
  18. Great stuff Jerry. I liked the look of the track plan when I saw it at Camrail. The presentation looks particularly nice.

Absurdly it went for this in the end!.. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2c632ad547 with the current MT price of £3.95. It defies logic. I was looking at this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370588879567?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 as I need one....I'll get it for £10 from George Watts!
  20. There actually was a slip coach on the first circuit that was slipped as it needed some tweaking with the bogies! (Number of vehicles now amended!)
  21. A doubleheaded down Paddington-Penzance express with a Hall, King and 14 on!

Why put a starting price http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Finescale-4mm-Etched-Locomotive-Brake-Rigging-11-Sets-BNIP-/190642312519?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2c632ad547 higher than the price Dave Cleal would charge you direct? ...and http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Finescale-Locomotive-Cab-Etched-Detailing-Set-Handwheels-Turn-Cocks-Etc-BNIP-/190641939252?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2c63252334 bidding now more than twice the the suppliers price. Perhaps I should offer all my Mainly Trains etches from the box!
  24. Many thanks for the complements all. I will do a 'how to' when I feel confident that I've got my methods right!
