  1. Hi Frank, Just spent a very enjoyable half hour looking at your blog, enjoying the very atmospheric modelling that you've done.

I'm planning on using a similar "train turntable" for my 7mm project fiddle yard. I'd be interested to hear what you've used as a pivot.

    Thanks, best wishes

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for your kind comments.

As far as the centre pivot of the turntable is concerned it's nothing fancy at all, as this was built "on the cheap" to prove a point then all I used was a simple nut and bolt.

    Details here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/852/entry-9478-on-the-fiddle/

I hope to make some improvement over time once the layout is up and running.

    Cheers!

  2. Hi,

I have just found your controller circuit and fancy having a go at building it.

I have all the components but being at the bottom end of electronic skills I would appreciate some advice please.

Can you please help with the B,C and E positions on each transistor in relation to your circuit diagram, especially the TIP147?

    Many thanks,

    Bob

    Bob,

I have sent you a PM with connection details

    Cheers!

  3. I think the colour schemes depended a heck of a lot on the painter on site.

They probably had instructions from Swindon on what should be which colour but, quite often these instructions were not followed and the painters did what they thought was best.. Each team of painters having their own "Tag" so to speak.

Nice idea about the "free benches" though I must get round to building up a set I have had in the draw for years!

    Cheers!

  4. Hi Pete, Been there done it got the T shirt!

It's always a downer when something like this happens and I too have had more than my fair share of failures.

Some of the failures I have had though have often worked out to be an improvement over my original thoughts, so as people have said above a rethink and some super glue and paint could solve the issue.

Whatever the resolution is I hope it works out to your satisfaction.

    Cheers!

  5. Looks like a lot of work has gone into the TT, nice job. What did you use for the bearing faces?

Hi, and thanks for your comment.

As this was my first attempt at this type of arrangement I wasn't sure about bearings as such, plus I wanted to keep costs down as I wasn't sure if it was going to work.

All I have used is "penny" washers as spacers between the frame and deck.. I might consider some improvement once finished and working properly.

  6. This 3D printing lark is completely beyond me I'm afraid.Although I can use Autocad it is is mainly for electrical drawings not this type of thing.

The bottom line is that I am impressed with what has been achieved, It certainly looks the way to go.

Just a thought though regarding the numbers on the buffer beam. Would it not have been possible to have recessed numbers and fill the numerals with paint?

    Cheers

  7. "Something in the C+L instructions which I completely endorse - point building should be enjoyed."

Totally agree,Having just made two B6 turnouts for my new project I can honestly say I really enjoyed making them.

It's very satisfying to see stock running through your home brew track and points and saying to yourself "I did that"

    Cheers!

  8. Thanks for the comments folks, much appreciated.

CK, yes I think the location has very much potential I just hope I can give it good justice.

Stu, No legs on the modules as such. I intend to use builders trestles as support for the whole show. (saves time on wood butchering my own!)

HH, Curved baseboards, may be a possibility, The only drawback is I want to keep the minimum radius to no less than 36inches. But, it is worth considering.

    Cheers guys!

    Frank
