  1. I would imagine that you would want it hard for best wear resistance. It would still be soft enough to be hammered (with a small hammer) to form a rivet.
  2. I've read of people using small pieces of copper wire from mains house wiring for rivets.
  3. Some controllers consider 0003 to be a long address and 3 or 03 as a short address.
  4. I think this should work The diodes provide a current path bypassing whichever is the open switch at the start of travel. The open switch closes as movement begins. When the other end of travel switch opens at the end of travel, it stops the motor. The circuit is then ready to run in the opposite direction.
  5. The lifetime guarantee is still valid as long as it hasn't been tampered with. It applies to new and secondhand purchases.
  6. I Maplin still exist but online only and with a much smaller product range
  7. An alternative to IPA is methylated spirits. Not quite as good as IPA but works well and is easier to get hold of and should be cheaper. Another option is lighter fluid (Naptha). Make sure there are no naked flames in the room and keep well ventilated content://com.android.chrome.FileProvider/images/screenshot/1638887900773-1026889367.jpg

  9. I would guess that the colour used will be a pantone colour as these colours are, apparently, frequently used for packaging. Have a look at the colour chart here https://www.pantone-colours.com/ but remember that what you see on screen may not be as true as it could be. Maybe try asking Hornby? PS Box colours fade a lot in sunlight. There was a Hornby box in a local shop window that was a very pale pink colour
  10. You're confusing power clips and point clips. Point clips are the little wire staple like things that go on points and power clips are what connects the power to the track
  11. Think of bus wiring as a form of insurance for long term reliability.
  12. Use a fibre glass brush to clean the area to be soldered.
  13. It can often be cured by turning off dc running capability in CV29. I don't know if your controller can do that.
  14. http://www.roco.cc/uploads/news/1/10764_Verstaerker.pdf Hope this is it
  15. Depends what terminals you want to crimp. Different terminals need different crimpers.
  16. Don't let me down - The Beatles.
  17. That don't impress me much - Shania Twain
  18. You can use a function only decoder (if you can find one) or another normal decoder with at least 2 functions. Using the same type of decoder in both units is pretty normal.
  19. A day in the life. - The Beatles
  20. I paid £100 for my Elite shortly after it was launched. It has served me well over the years but I'm not sure that I'd buy one now.
  21. Have you checked the washing machine filter? It's probably hiding in a sock with 2 or 3 coins, a marble and a piece of something you can't identify.
  22. I would also avoid WD-40 as it dries out to become a very thick sticky goo and eventually goes hard.
