  1. Expo Tools https://www.expotools.com/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?page=search&SS=Hex+driver&PR=-1&TB=O&ACTION=&ACTION=Go!
  2. Get the Select upgraded to the latest firmware, v1.6, and you can then write to cvs. It cannot read cvs unfortunately. Cost is £15 plus you postage cost to send it to Hornby. You need to get a returns number before you send it.
  3. When you isolate the motor from the chassis/frames you don't (normaly) need to isolate the body of the motor, just the electrical connection terminals. Neither of the electrical terminals are normally in contact with the body of the motor. One exception is ringfield motors, as were quite common in older Hornby models, which often have the left hand motor terminal connected to the metal body of the motor. This must be remedied before a decoder is wired in.
  4. From a quick glance I would say it's a CDU
  5. You do know that the loco address is reset to 3 after this, don't you?
  6. Used to ensure parts are running true in the chuck. With the part held not too tightly in the chuck, advance the tool against the part. When running true tighten the chuck completely.
  7. Try scraping the new wire with a knife or emery paper to get down to fresh clean metal, just in case it has some sort of coating on it.
  8. Lego bricks can be used for getting things square, they are very precisely made.
  9. Disconnect the output of the prodigy from the track and measure the voltage at the prodigy to eliminate any fault with the layout.
  10. Could it just be dust sticking to the oily release agent from the moulding process or the plasticiser leeching from the plastic itself.
  11. Too cold in winter and far too hot in summer unless well insulated.
  12. I would first of all stop using it until I had tried a different speaker. A faulty speaker could be the cause of the heat
  13. Does this maintenance sheet help https://www.lendonsmodelshop.co.uk/pdf/Hornby Maintenance Sheets/A1-A1X Class Terrier.pdf
  14. This may sound odd but try soaking the brittle sheets in water for a day or so. It has been shown to work for garden strimmer line that keeps breaking too easily, so may work for plastic sheets.
  15. A decoders ability to handle stall current can be needed in the case of mechanical problems in the loco such as a broken component or a foreign object becoming jammed in the mechanism resulting in a stalled motor.
  16. Gostude is infamous for his crazy pricing..
  17. IIRC the non sound locos have the LEDs wired with a common negative whilst the sound fitted models are wired common positive, so you may need to rewire, possibly by reversing the leds on the pcbs.
  18. There is a ready made software package https://www.musicmixradio.com/yardoffice/ Couldn't get on with it myself. Not sure if it works on anything other than a PC.
  19. Point motors need a separate power supply, they are not normally powered from the track. Some dc controllers have auxiliary (accessory) power outlets which can be used to power points. You may want to have a read of Brian Lambert's website https://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/Electrical_Page_1.html
  20. You need to remove all other locos from the track when you do any programming to prevent them all getting reprogrammed at the same time, which is probably what has happened here. Most people have a separate programming track, just a single piece of track or a rolling road, to avoid having this problem. You now need to re-address your locos one by one.
  21. Unfortunately I knocked one over that was nearly empty that splashed over a relatively new super detailed Hornby pullman coach. I almost cried
  22. Not unless the op can re-upload them. Many photos were lost some time ago when the forum had to change to a new host.
