Funnily enough my little step princess made a dutch apple cake last night. I only managed a dutch oven but was rewarded with the comment:

"You will die a sad lonely old man".

The Mrs holds out more hope for me than my GP at least.

Now, now. Laying the slabs made me happy, and the proper term for each other round here is "worthy adversary"

I didn't know that Poirot had got that far, nor that he was an airline entrepreneur.

    2. eastwestdivide

      eastwestdivide

The facial hair in these shots is much more unkempt than Poirot's

why is it made from cork - to insulate from the sound of all the other buzzwords

    3. Huw Griffiths

      Huw Griffiths

I suspect a lot of job applicants are even more fed up of having to include all these buzzwords, in the forlorn hope that HR might even allow their application forms to be seen by anyone involved in recruiting. Some hope!

    4. 60159

      60159

I detest all these meaningless HR/recruitment buzzwords - all that matters is can you do the job and will you fit in with your colleagues. I would not recruit someone who listed their "core competences" as such

  14. A random stranger in the street just told me to "stop looking like my doctor!" as they nearly greeted me.

  15. Slide scanning has now moved on to men in beards eating Ritz crackers in tents in Antarctica (I think) in 1962

Yes, pointy at one end, the beak. Real penguins. The slides have now moved on to men in beards eating in tents in 1962

  17. BBC TV red button currently a strangely hypnotic mix of Planet Earth footage with trippy/ambient/electronic/dub music over the top

    1. Captain Kernow

      Captain Kernow

      What does that mean?

    2. eastwestdivide

      eastwestdivide

Literally, a form of baroque musical composition, based on a dance. Bach made a couple of decent ones. The question on the status update is "what's on your mind?", so that what was on my mind as I'd just listened to one.

    3. Captain Kernow

      Captain Kernow

How civilised. I must have listened to this kind of thing as well and liked it, just didn't realise what the proper name was!

  21. Rainy out, incoming work delayed, any suggestions to avoid doing the hoovering?
