  1. I suspect that now the £5 barrier has been broken many casual browsers and occasional buyers/readers simply wont bother.
  2. 45048 recently listed on eBay with BIN price of 450.00. Sorry, I can't do links.
  3. Dear All, Wondered if anyone had any of these they'd like to part with? Thanks, Adrian
  4. Many thanks for posting these links, they are are real trip down memory lane. In the Glasgow Central video there are 3 or 4 trains arriving/leaving, Class 86/87 hauled, and consisting of as few as 4 coaches (air con Mk2's), sometimes 5 coaches plus BG, one even with a Scotrail liveried coach. Anyone know what these short trains were? Did they combine with other trains from Edinburgh at Carstairs to continue south in a bigger consist?
  5. Nice work, I like to see a bargain bucket find resurrected.
  6. This looks interesting. I know very little about the area but I hope to be educated. Modellling preserved railways has not been a particularly common or popular practice but it seems to be gaining momentum, which I think is a positive thing. I am quite tempted to have a crack at it myself. Will you be strict in your choice of locos and rolling stock, i.e. using only those that are preserved in the real world, or are you allowing yourself some 'modeller's licence'?
  7. The LSWR coach episode was excellent I thought. It demonstrated that with perseverance and dedication and a lot of bloody hard work (not to mention a cash injection from Ch.4 in this case), a really important piece of railway history could be brought back from the brink. I hope it inspires more people to become involved with restoring our railway heritage, and another series with the promise of more cash from a TV company would be most welcome.
  8. Mainline/Palitoy Branch Freight Set with green J72 and a few wagons and an oval of track. Later it developed into a 6'x4' board which was hinged and could be lowered down from the wall for running sessions. Later acquisitions for birthdays and Christmas included Mainline Collett 0-6-0 and Class 03, Hornby Class 25, Lima Deltic and Class 117, plus assorted rolling stock.
  9. Not sure about others but don't forget 033 also carried yellow Highland Rail stickers/vinyls for a while when based at Inverness.
  10. I like this very much, I’ll be following with interest.
  11. If only I had actually sold them and not given them away!
  12. I popped along this morning for the first time since the change of location. I’m afraid I much preferred the leisure centre. It used to have the feel and excitement of a ‘big’ show but I’m afraid I didn’t get that this morning. Some of the layouts on show were excellent - Arun Quay, Ruxley and Melton Mowbray were personal favourites - but much of the rest wasn’t my cup of tea.
  13. I tried to dispose of mine to one of the local heritage lines near where I live and they turned them down. Eventually I put a ‘free to first responder’ ad on a model railway Facebook Group page and someone came to pick them up a few days later. I was quite miffed a few weeks after that to see this gent at a model/toy fair selling aforementioned mags - turns out he is a professional trader.
  14. I've now sold them on so I can't check, but IIRC, I fitted R8096 Hornby coach wheels to mine and nearly all of them ran without any reaming out of axleboxes necessary. You might get away with a straight swap.
  15. How are you getting on with the paint removal? I'm keen to see how easy (or not) the process is.
  16. That 31 looks the part Lee. Did it start life as 31110 in Dutch? If so, did you strip the factory paint before respraying? The reason I ask is that I'm finding it hard to remove the factory paint job on a Hornby 56 with my IPA bath. It worked a treat on Bachmann paint but Hornby is proving more stubborn.
  17. Thanks, I have seen this photo and I came to the same conclusion at first, but then I realised that the metal strip/reinforcement bar/whatever it is was present in 1978 as in the photo at Aviemore!
  18. Post the results of your project on here!
  19. If anyone is after a donor Hornby Class 31 with chassis rot (for the innards, repowering Lima, etc) there is one on eBay now for £45 ono, with spare PCBs thrown in. I have no connection with or knowledge of the seller.

    TSB

My TSB account is a secondary one so luckily for me I haven't encountered any problems with cashflow, payments, etc. I use the TSB app on my phone and tablet and I tried to log in but a message appears telling me I have to re-register my device, which means digging out all the original paperwork, passwords, PINs, etc. Quite annoying but minor problems when compared to others.
  21. Can’t believe I’ve missed this until now. Lovely layout, deserves a higher profile. Much, much more please!
  22. Seems to be 0 gauge if examined closely (bogies/wheelbase) so I'd say a good price for all the work that has gone into it in 7mm scale.
  23. Attempting to impress cashiers at Argos isn't really very far up my 'to do' list, to be honest.
  24. I’m sure I’ve heard a story about LMS Pacific ‘City of Nottingham’ almost being preserved - either the city council tried to buy her, or were offered her and turned down the opportunity. I’m sure someone else knows.
