Strangely the RCTS volume 1 which covers liveries just says Black during the war but doesnt mention colour of lettering at all then or post war other than mentioning some locos returned to Green post war. As well as Yellow Gill Sans post war a couple of the A2/3 's had Cream lettering , I am not sure but possibly Great Northern once in Green was also Cream ? . I think I will get the Brass paint out for the whistle. thanks

Have you checked back to back on bogie wheels ? I have mine jumping too and as usual with Hornby gap is very tight. The other thing is the NEM coupling/casting causing it? I have removed mine as not needed . It was hitting the vac pipe and steps on curves
  5. In addition to Lord President which I have built on commision . I have also put a little detail on my Hornby B1 Roedeer, Etched Name Plates, Crew and Coal in the tender.

Etched nameplates , crew and coal in tender added.
  7. I now have two from memory not a lot of room . Mine have kept the tension locks I have given up on other couplings for anything other than wagons.
  8. Much better you cant take modelling toooooo seriously can you
  9. Offside Boiler handrails look like a helter skelter or is that prototypical ??

Roedeer has arrived and it is a superb Loco the best I have personally seen from either Hornby or Bachmann. Lining is outstanding as is the overall detail. Mine has no obvious lines on the boiler/smokebox which I have seen in some photos just a very faint line near the washout plugs. Far ahead of the Bachmann version in all departments IMHO well done Hornby. My Bachmann Roedeer version is heading for ebay

Roedeer on way via ebay for £80 Coachmann has used a Bradwell chimney and dome on one, pictures on his ex LNER thread.
  12. Coach I agree re HMRS unless you use Methfix version which I have never liked. Halfords paints are the best I have ever found in cans. Turned into a much nicer loco. I have a set of Rotary gear bought recently from Puffers which makes life a bit simpler for others considering this conversion. I agree re Modelmaster prices and the same applies to Fox too. 247 Developments do some of the Hunts for a fiver much better !! Cant read the name of your Hunt in the pictures so no idea if they do the above one without looking the running number up.
  13. Happy New Year to you thanks for posting the pictures , which have been a delight
  14. Running in since last post. Colour variation between Loco and Tender is due to Loco being unvarnished in pictures. Since these were taken I have lined out the Cab and part of the Tender.
  15. How are the end boards made please ??
  16. Reading this the 1024 is the best choice http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php/topic/10081-how-to-select-a-motor-for-your-model/page__p__88541__hl__%2Bmashima+%2Bpower+%2Boutput__fromsearch__1#entry88541 I have a DJH D20 the bogie frames do indeed swivel in combination with a large spring and is hardly noticable in action and it does work !!
  17. Simply superb fantastic work well done :paint: :paint:
  18. I have seen lots of photos of A4's in LNER days in far from pristine condtion. In particular the area either side of the cylinders valance joints are generally straeked Black/Oil shades. I doubt very much if BR ever kept them much cleaner either !!
  19. Martin Finney etches available as spares cheers
  20. More progress Scratch smoke deflectors New saddle as the original A2 is the wrong shape/position for the A2/2
  21. Has he used a Hornby Gresley Coach as a base ? as used here in a much better livery http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/943-lner-models-in-4mm/page__st__225 about halfway down

quote Because you can buy them off Hattons, and generally Hattons only photograph models when they come into stock. Ah generally I have no idea if they use their own pics or not. I am sure some more pics will appear soon
