  1. So if they want to entice me from road to rail, why do they charge me £13 to park up at the station?

      LNERGE

If it was too cheap we'd all be doing it and every car park would be overwhelmed, every train overcrowded (even more than they are now) etc....

Because an anonymous suit in TOC HQ says it's alright to do so.

  6. At any one time the number of locos that you need is given by the formula n+1 where n is the number of locos you already have.

    1. Guest

Can also be expressed as s-1 where s is the number of locos that causes divorce.

But n is a real integer whilst s is a complex, irrational variable.

      Captain Kernow

I find that I can be complex, irrational and variable when indulging in model railway shopping.

I'd imagine they're "subtle" - probably fair comment, too.

Still, the whole world is stuck with the guy - so we all need to hope for the best … .

"Fiddle yards of ale" … that's a good one - but it might leave a bitter taste.

Seriously though, I suspect that lots of model railway clubs must be based in licenced premises.

As for brewery based layouts, I've also seen a few of them.

Presumably they don't get too many jokes about people's ability to organise shunting in a --- …

      … Oh, never mind.

  10. I've lost my progger-wotsit again. It's the tool I can least do without.

      mark374

carnt beat a nice teacake and wafer, mind them wafers can break ya teeth when chilled, i had one in my packed lunch at college, 3 hours next to a chilled bottle of pepsi in your bag was enough to make it like a brick

You should try living near to the Tunnock's factory, with the wind in the right direction there's a lovely caramel smell.

Lots has been done, for which I am eternally grateful. I think it's a case of clip on magnifiers and frequent rests. I can still cope at normal viewing distance although I may miss the occasional rivet.

  24. Large, thick books. Best to store flat horixontal or vertical?

    1. Ozexpatriate

      Ozexpatriate

To "store" - flat. To access from a bookshelf - vertical, if you have several the same size and a suitable book-end

    2. Kris

      Kris

Vertical, it takes more space but looks so much better. Books stacked on the flat look messy and are a pain to access.
