  1. They are perfect for the mid 80's to mid 90's, they were everywhere then. Sadly they were rather water soluble so a lot were gone by the late 90's, having said that I saw one on the road last week still earning its keep.
  2. Great to see it finished look forward to seeing it in the flesh soon I see some houses have sprung up on the track-bed near the McDonalds roundabout when I passed the other day, more traces of the line disappearing sadly.
  3. Some nice work and like the simplified approach to the window surrounds although I am guessing it is not suitable if you intend to use Laserglaze? Re the spraying round the etch approach, that would give you the step in the paint and would probably be subtle enough. Having said that with my own full etch 37's in front of me anything further than 6 inches you can't see the fact the etch is on top anyway.
  4. Always fancied modelling a circular layout, there are some superb examples on this thread. For those layouts with pure 360 degree viewing, it does make you wonder how the exhibition manager copes with fitting it in a place where people can properly view all sides, bearing in mind most hall plans are to fit around layoits to be viewed on one or 2 sides at most?

My sort of layout, will watch with interest, do you have a track plan you can post please?
  6. Hi Richard, I would recommend the HMRS presfix type, they are also easier to use than rub on type in my opinion.
  7. Very tempted by one of these, I am sure Shawplan can do some laserglaze for the windows!
  8. Once when walking nearby I saw 4 police motorcyclist accompanying 2 Seddon Atkinson Security vans, they were huge and quite heavily armoured, and the police were clearing the traffic so they never stopped. I had never seen anything like it so presumably these were transferring Bullion
  9. Excellent Thread, thanks to JCL etc for sharing your efforts.
  10. I am not sure it is going mainline proper, it is intended as a super shunter at Daventry.
  11. I have used a broken Hornby chassis in a Lima 31 and will see how long it lasts but since having it part of the main chassis near the screw holes has broken further. If it fails further I will transplant the Motor etc into the Lima chassis so won't be the end of the world, just more work.
  12. I agree Sean, although the angle in some photos can be deceiving: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44896881@N06/4374095322/in/photolist-7Ewo9A-dExfJQ-ckGdnh-cc6bU9-akm5wk-dTfS2G-ckGee1-fbbDSZ-9NtgUf-dRbrpU-7z4d2W-dQLc6y-an3YyL-dwpPVb-dgHeba-frb7wQ-boJBVE-bAZ8SF-aiGE7G-9cyW1w-dgAQdd-dgap3R-dgANWF-dQLbY1-dQLbS7-dgB5BL-dga2Jn-dg993J-dga7WF-dTsLtF-dgB3jv-achQMw-dgB2Xe-8XAgyz-daPap5-daPehD-daP4iz-daP5bw-dc9zQZ-fgzg6S-dxdHUF-dX1gEK-an1a64-an19Vv-9rkvtu-8tRZ4Z-bmjFSU-aCE698-7Ewo1S-7Esw5T-7Ewopf
  13. Quite a few like this due to accident damage albeit each with their own subtle differences. From memory they were 006/19/65/75/100/102 which had marker lights at one end and boxes at the other. 006,19, 65 and 100 retained the nose doors but lost the boxes. 102 had a friday afternoon look about it with strange tail lights, cut back bufferbeam cowling (as did 19) and no doors. When converted to 712 they sorted most of the bits, but left the obscure tail light mountings. Also with odd ends was 37072 which had a centre box and roof mounted horns at one end only. In addition 073/74/091 were rebuilt after smashes with centre boxes in the 60's and to the untrained eye are identical to a standard centre box series 2 machine. Laira also struggled with any 37 that wasn't centre box so rebuilt 031/047/053 into centre boxes but with nose moutned horns.
  14. The Railroad 31's won't be affected, they are the old Lima chassis which is plastic.
  15. April 1977 approaching Pallet Lane station:
  16. Its a TC, the TD had the rev counter and speedo in front of the driver. All TC's had wire wheels The picture in the link below is of my dad's TC, both he and I used the car to drive our newly married wives away from the church 30 years apart https://plus.google.com/photos/108276737182059493519/albums/5625953284202843409/5625953591160328162?banner=pwa&pid=5625953591160328162&oid=108276737182059493519
  17. Indeed, it ended up in 50023 but it put a conrod through the block.
  18. Except an A3 already exists whereas a DP2 doesn't. While DP2 looks similar to a Deltic I presume the internal framing is substantially different requiring a new shell?
  19. Some lovely work here, just be careful if you start getting into any of the PHD steps or Extreme Etchings/ Lazerglase components, they are that good and make such a difference you will want to do the whole fleet, I have spent more on detailing mine than I spent on the original loco!
  20. Fingers crossed that they make it rolling again, I would only have 4 more years of tax on the Land Rover. The annual road fund licence currently costs me 20p a mile as it only does 1,000 miles a year!
  21. I always like a nice Cut and Shut job, cracking modelling as ever Sean.
  22. Will watch this one with interest, Ripper Street always impressed me too.
  23. Looks better every time I read this thread, it also happens that I am be on Holiday in Bideford week after next so will work on Mrs 37114 and try and pop in on the 25th.
